Great show! So Lucky 7 goes back to ‘91. As the original bassist, I did the first recordings with Lucky 7 and we opened for lots of groups including the Skatalites and Hepcat. I have the original fliers, LA Times ads and pics from the Whiskey A Go Go gigs. We were out of Riverside, CA. After 6 months, the original Lucky 7 broke up or split in half in ‘92. Keyboardist Ruben Valenzuela reformed Lucky 7 with new members and recorded a new album. Rich, were you part of that reformed Lucky 7 with Ruben? I’m checking with him now.

I remember a lot of those times just hanging out with everyone.

Roberto is a many decades real friend, and his family is like family to me. I am forever indebted to Roberto for being alive, and assisting my guitar playing career. Sadly, Roberto didn’t mention my dearest ever talented bandleader and astonishing steel drummer Einstein Brown and his band Sapadilla as being one of the first reggae soca bands in Southern California, plus backing band for Pato Banton and Tippa Irie. Ezzat couldn’t get the insurance claim because I wasn’t over 25. So we technically violated the rental car contract. None of us were over 25.

Jonas almost didn’t make it in the band. He got in on enthusiasm. That was before we knew he could sing. I actually pushed for him to get in. I used a lot of Stewart Copeland, Terry Bozzio and Neil Peart influences for the parts I came up with. Mark and Alex also had a rock background as well. The fusion of all of us together showed what would come in the future with the ska/punk movement.
