The death of Trayvon Martin
Many years ago when I had a construction company I had bunch of young black students coming every summer to work for me and make some money. They were decent and hard working and I always was glad to have them. When Trayvon Martin was killed I was surprised what an impact it had on me.It took me all this time to get the facts together, the proper composition and melody. It is not an easy song to make and I wanted to accomplished it with a good taste and tact without hurting too many people. Some of you could be offended by me using the term Black.I can not use the new term African American,as I can not use the name African Canadian. We have in Canada only Canadians,or in this case to describe t...

Many years ago I recorded this lovely song as a demo and never thought about using it till now. With this song I would like to pay a tribute to all the lovely ladies I had something to do with,to pay my tribute, especially in time before and long after Valentine's day.

Long time ago I was introduced to this song in middle of Mexico and I remember that I gladly payed to the wonderful group of Mariachi who played it for us.The best rendition I remember was by a group from Guadalajara in Tlatepaque. This song was written by Thomas Mendes and was used in many movies by many singers and actors, one of them even Kirk Douglas.I always enjoyed singing it and one day I ...
Where the wind goes to sleep

Many years ago two Czech song writers Ivan Kotrc and Ncolas Vavrin wrote a very good song which was recorded by ,than already, well known Czech singer Karel Got. This song made it big. I liked it and performed it many times and once I was praised by one of the authors for nice delivery of this song. The name of this song is Where the wind goes to sleep. Some time ago I clicked by chance on it o...

Epitaph for a friend

Our friend and neighbor died in Florida while we were in our northern home in Canada. The only way to express our feelings is to write about the sorrow of a still young life being snuffed away by cancer. Epitaph for a friend I ordered her before we left for northern home "Stay alive,do't leave" I said with an imperative tone She couldn't wait, that illness does not give a chance Joan had to leav...

My friend from Songwriter101.com, Gary E.Andrews wrote such nice lyrics that I asked him for permission for me to write music to it.It's an end-of-love song and reminds me of some of similar moments in my life.

Requiem for heroes

I composed this song some years ago in the midst of both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mad as hell at the top few who frivolously decided to wage a war without caring about the consequences of it and doing that without using common sense .I was saddened by seeing the enormous amount of coffins coming home on daily bases. All the beautiful young kids, who did not even had chance to taste a life....

Very nice English version of my classic favorite music ! ( NESSUN DORMA = NO ONE MUST SLEEP )
Whata the last line to this please
No more tormenting, the morning of victory. Your friend Otto PS. Sorry, I don't come on this site too often. OK
Better in English. I can understand it!!!!!!
🏖🏜
this is amazing singing and it is beautiful for the other comments complaining why don't you go do better you fuckwits or just don't complain
Very nice Otto. Love it.
Check the cover version of this song by an Indian, Krishnan Sastry - ruclips.net/video/gejGp0RihTs/видео.html
I noticed your voice was of an older man but I must say that the quality of your voice is quite superb! Especially on the more powerful sustained notes. I thought your translation was quite good! It's so hard to convey poetic cadence when translating from one language into another. It's one thing to word for word translate without loosing the art. My idea was to translate this way. No one slumbers,no one slumbers. Not even you princess in your cold chambers. Regard the stars, trembling with love, and hope.
Sorry, I have not been on this site for some time. I considered all kinds of words, but the word, sleeping, was best for vocalization. Thanks, Otto
Beautifully sung even in English. But, having heard this sung in Italian so many times the flow and rhythm seem different. I suppose Maria Callis may have been right in refusing to come to America and sing opera in English.
YEHHH ! Pavarotti's and Bocelli's are different but in English is nice too ! ( first time for me )
The flow of Italian is always better, because the God of music made Italian language for it. The rhythm is absolutely unchanged. Anglo-Saxon languages are not the easiest to vocalize. Sometimes, it comes too harsh. I have sung in Russian, Polish, Czech, Spanish and German. I don't have the guts to translate a French chanson of Gilbert Bécaud, or Edith Piaf to any other language. It never works. When the song is written for a particular language, it is as an original imprint, which is quite difficult to rewrite. But I still keep on trying, my friend. By the way, I wouldn't do it to Gilbert, I knew him personally. Otto
Chill bumps. I love this. Thank you, thank you.
When english people can’t accept something isn’t theirs and have to spoil a masterpiece😊
Thank you, I needed that. And, I am not even English. I am Czech-Canadian. Your friend Otto
Beautiful
I googled this then I searched RUclips and now someone must be chopping onions near by.
This almost brought a tear to my eye! Truly magnificent! It is so much more impactful when you can understand what's being said!!
Pavrotti sang this in Italian and it always brings tears to my eyes now I've heard it in English it still makes me cry
This translates well in English.I still get goose pimples when I hear it.
COOl
Well it was very Good translated but this Song Hits difftent in Itialien. My second Favorit Version is in geman from Fritz Wunderlich. But I liked the English Version alot so this is an 8/10
I want to give him a standing ovation his. Voice was wonderful thank you a million times xxx
For God's sake sing in Italian, put the English on a crawl
Ha,ha. I recorded it in Italian, but it's another hum-drum, which can not measure up with the big guys as Carrera or Pavarotti, or Roberto Alagna. I got only 180 clicks. Your friend Otto.
This was amazing. Thank you
I enjoyed this English version which was sang very well.
I was hoping to hear the words more clearly what are the words in English at the end during the highlight?
I am sorry, I failed you. I will try to be better. But the lyric is printed up there. Otto
This is just fantastic! Absolutely fantastic! I do not often find some one who translates the lyrics with such feeling and imagination. I would like to hear it with clearer music in the background though.
I liked it.
Good to understand the words, but it's not a song that is suited to being sung in English
What counts is its music not its words ! ( give the English words to Pavarotti or Bocelli and you will see it ..... )
I WILL WIN!
Very nice!
Saying this isn't as good is really throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I for one, appreciate an attempt at an English version, and this isn't even half bad. It does the job well, and the effort is clearly there. Good job, Otto Kristen.
Nice!
Nice rendition. I love the aria, but don't understand itailan, so i thank you Otto ! Your voice is fine !!
It definitely sounds better in Latin
That would be Italian...
@@stevesingkofer8879Does it really matter? People know what I mean
@@georgecampbellvideos3517 Not really, since Latin is not Italian, anymore than English is German.
An Italian would be offended, if you say that the lyrics are Latin. Your friend Otto.
Nice, but not the same in English!
Thanks my friends for so many feedbacks. I did this rendition to leave something for my grandchildren in hope to pave for them the road to opera. It would be up to them to make the proper choice.I was 74 when I recoded this aria and my voice was not the same as in my younger days, sorry.
Absolutely brilliant. You have an unbelievable voice. Do you have any other songs? I'll have to look. And thank you for your video.
Thank you so much for this rendition. Blessings.
Well i like it. So screw them. Thank you!
Apologies for what............. it’s a beautiful rendition
I found it interesting
GRACIAS......
I clicked on just out of curiosity of what it sounded like in english, And have to say, No it doesn't sound right - I mean it's not bad but it just does not have that power of overwealming emotion of it's native language, Pavorotti or Anrea Bochelli - I mean hear them sing and if you are not even slighty touched you are not human. I don't think anyone singing this in particular english will match that. But thanks for doing this nonetheless again curiosity :)
Hey I think you missed this back then, but I believe it was actually the voice of this singer that didn't serve it justice. Look at this newly released parody (Pavarotti's voice digitally reconstructed with immense sound engineer craftsmanship) ruclips.net/video/YIZz2PMnEDM/видео.html You see, if the singer himself had a great voice, and better if he also had Italian accent, this should certainly have sound much better. A feature of Italian accent is for example the added vowels at the end of words, since Italian rarely has words ending with consonants therefor when Italians speak english, they tend to speak out a vowel at the end of words that end in consonants (in the link I put above, at 0:10 you can hear "bottom-uh jeans". Many language channels have already discussed this aspect :) Besides, from your wording I guess you might be old. If you can't use youtube anymore for some reason, I wanna express my sympathy, and hope you're doing well otherwise.
Cause it was written in English, was meant to be sang in it
Well that was interesting, not my absolute favorite version.....
Oh god please don't do something like this again. Songs are not meant to be translated. Especially this one.
You could have not clicked on the video.
Yeah they will be understood by English people.
Michael Brock I can appreciate the music without understanding the lyrics. I can also just look them up and gain further understanding. The translation undermines the song. If you are going to do an opera in English, make it FOR English. Definitely not one of the better versions I’ve heard.
Well I disagree with some of the word choices, but I appreciate the effort. If understanding the lyrics interferes with an appreciation of the music, then it’s down to the translation. Granted, the glotal stops et al of English do not quite mesh with Puccini. I wonder if hearing it in another Romance language would be as objectionable. French, e.g. Probably not.
@@nicolknappen6596 ruclips.net/video/7F58jJOQfcQ/видео.html This is Nessun Dorma's score with both Italian and English lyrics. While it doesn't rhyme and I couldn't find any sung version in English, I like it more. What do you think?

thank you for trying to translate. it's a beautiful and sad song. you did a great job.
Very nice sing. never heard the translation before. made me tear a bit.
The original song I liked to perform was the one to give me an inspiration to make an English song of similar style of a song.Unfortunately the mono original has better sound than mine. You can see and listen to it on RUclips / Karel Got / Kam chodí vítr spát.
bela recodação,,,,amei,,,,
Thanks for the video it was great. Elsa K
