The *Traveller's* Guide to Exciting 2024 Releases
I agree that the '23 was significantly better, I found the '24 quite bitter and honestly just not enjoyable for me.
The extra year didn’t do it any good. ‘23 was better by a fair margin. Surprised to hear you got a lingering finish, I thought it fell flat quickly. It’s a good pour but ‘23 cellar separated itself from the rest of the lineup. This bottle doesn’t. Pick it up if you’re a diehard Makers fan…pass otherwise
Paid $85 for this bottle- I liked it a lot Great finish however last years 9 yr blew this away One of my faves for 2023
Hard to disagree with that
Pondering Thought…so alcohol evaporates quicker than water right? Rubbing alcohol on your hand will evaporate much faster than water. Why does bourbon get higher in proof the longer it ages in the barrel? You would think the alcohol would evaporate faster than the water
Not a fan of Penelope
I paid $59.99 at Costco, went back and bought a case!
The juice is for sure worth the squeeze at 60
why wouldn't it be distributed to Louisiana?
@mf_motty from what we've heard, there were only 14 cases (84 bottles) distributed to the region (5 states) so the rep didn't want to bring only 16 bottles to each state
The 78/13/9 is a less commonly used mashbill by Jim Beam
It’s okay 7/10
You would get more views if you didn’t yap for 6:30 before tasting it
Penelope private select 9 year barrel strength is an absolute hitter!
Probably the best penelope to date so far
Russel’s 15!
My pour of year so far!
Saw y’all at the D’nacs picking this up!
Cheers man! Get anything good? Pop'em if you got'em!
First time I'm tuning in. Cool review. You guys didn't agree on anything lol. Love the content tho
@bizzaam1 yea, we never agree on anything Penelope 🤣
Rio and Tokaji are unique and good expressions but I agree the rest is quintessential meh. Have yet to try the 9 year, though.
I enjoyed their 2024 Toasted Rye and the Char 4 & 5 of the normal Toasted. I'm currently drinking their Batch 3 of Valencia. I like it. Has a nice orange zest to it. Just opened the Estate 9yr as well. Love it.
Great bottle
Hey Eric, Papa G here. We met at Antoine's a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed this C924! I found it very rich, with deep oak characteristics. Very silky with a good mouth feel. I didn't get the bitterness you mentioned or the tannic notes. I have the A124 and the B524 and compared them.... The C924 is tops. This, to me, drinks warm, not hot. I love the videos... keep up the good work! Just my 2 cents... Cheers!!
I haven’t blinded B v C (skipped A124), but I agree. I think this is a very solid batch.
Be a good comp to 8yr or 12yr Japan only Turkey
Turkey 12 is sooo good
Love the Wild Turkey profile, have a Kentucky Spirit CN-E and a Russell's Private Barrel CN-F along with Rare Breed both the Bourbon and Rye, Russell's 10yr, Russell's 6yr Rye! Hope to find a bottle of this.
If you love the turkey profile you will love this bottle. Honestly has more of a russell's single barrel profile than it does a turkey 101 profile. Some hints of richness with Tons of that spice turkey is known for. When you get a bottle let us know what you think
Can’t find it for less than $105
If you can, give it some time, hasn’t hit the shelves in a lot of places yet, so there is still some secondary pricing going on
@@BeyondTheBarrelBourbon will do, love the podcast!
🦃🦃🦃
every sagamore I have ever had is delicious
That barrel top is so much better than that dead plant
False
Came to say what's up Eric. I'll be cruising through some of these vids. Cheers dude 🍻
Cheers🥃
Still waiting for someone to win a sample of some found north...just name that movie!
Pappy 23
I like the Sagampre Double Oak . I haven tried this one yet
I think you will be pleasantly surprised. They are actually pretty comparable as far as quality of whiskey
it's definitely NOT "kara mel" ... its CAR MEL
Disagree!
Car A mel....
Eric will learn eventually, until that day we will just keep correcting him
Cause he’s thinking of eating cookies again
Eric is a little debbie man
It’s interesting you get a ton of grape on turkey products I usually get that on buffalo trace stuff. Also interesting you guys didn’t pick up the ton of oak that I get on the Russel’s 15. Great review though!
I've always gotten grape flavor on the nose and palate of Turkey products AND certain 1792 expressions also.. I generally can pick out Trace because I get sweet apple on the nose and palate! Thanks for watching! - Eric
I generally get cherry on turkey products and more grape notes on Buffalo Trace. I do get a hint of oak on the Russell's 15, but I get several flavors that are more prominent. I have been drinking a lot of Found North lately and on those the oak is the most prominent flavor. So because the oak isn't one of the most prominent flavors on the 15, like those I would consider oak bombs, I felt it made more since to say hint of oak, although you may be right that there may be more than a hint on the 15. Still my bottle of the year in 2015 so far! - Phil
I like Sazerac Rye 🤷♂️
Saz Rye is hard to beat at its price point!
I appreciate the shout out. You guys are more than welcome anytime at Savannah Discount.
Love your show guys yall are awesome
Still Austin Straight Rye: "The Artist"
Still Austin knows what they are doing, their entire lineup from bottle-in-bond to cask strength is just plain good
This is definitely not the Old Crow sitting on the bottom shelf for $11 today
It's good but not worth a hundo. Regular BiB is half the price.
Dragon's Milk Origin
Seven three is bringing it! That rum is good too
Cheers! 🥃
Michters 10 year rye
Old Dominick Cask Strength Bourbon and their Tennessee Whiskey
We met Adam at Diversion Pizza for their Bywater barrel pick release. That Bywater is the best bottle I've had so far! Looking forward to the Honey batch.
Bardstown Origin BiB is a great wheated pour! Green river wheated is a very easy drinker and one of my favorite wheaters!
The BiB is so solid, but my favorite is Disco 11 for sure!
Coopers Craft bonded!
That mid 60's Taylor 🥹🥵
Dewars 32 Double Double is my under the radar bottle
Driftless Glen cask strength rye. I've had 3 SiB's and they really stand out as unique in the current market
Redwood Empire Cask Strength
Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon - which, alas, they've quit making. 😢
@WhiskyForBeginners I've heard that Hechiceros is a wonderful bottle from Balcones, but still haven't found one. -Eric
@@BeyondTheBarrelBourbon Yah, that's one of their limited releases. Instead of stopping bourbon production, I wish Balcones had done fewer special bottles and put the juice instead in available and affordable stuff.
