DaveK's image is way better with his phone than his laptops. Phone sound pickup actually introduce lots of "chirps" into the soundtrack of the live. Suggestion to VW: To lower the glare over your head, how about putting something over the fluo light behind you?

We had a Brickfest live recently here. One of our local afols attended (as he organises a very successful show that raises money for charity) as research; the photos looked like a post apocalyptic show, huge gaps between tables, almost no mocs and almost no visitors

It's always a hassle when organizing things, and people cancel near the event. I hope David can find some good replacements. At the many comic conventions that i went to, you see much difference too. There even was a comic convention, where no comics were sold. Fanbase organized events are always better then commecial events in therms of value for money, but might be a bit more onorganized. Personally, i always prefer talking to fans over busines people that don't care about the subject.

We've got a show this weekend raising money for charity, but we're getting a brickfest live style show next month which is £20 entry 🙄

Unable to watch live for the next few months due to work, but it's good to catch up on your livestream a few days later, especially while putzing around with LEGO. BTW, the author of the New Elementary article (Thomas Jenkins, who is also based in Japan) makes some really impressive spaceship MOCs, many of which are inspired by Star Wars.
