Yes and no. Like always.....

This is great. I have been speaking with people about how aligning our systems with the naturally occurring systems in the world would go a greater way than our current models. I am influenced by Buckminster Fuller's theories that we have all of the capabilities to create societies where all humans can have a sustainable and comfortable standard of living. I think creating new systems and economies begins with making new and more expansive assumptions.

I wanted to hear Graham speak and this video definitely does not deliver.

Non-ergodicity is not too difficult to understand. Ole Peters does a great job of explaining it and describing the science behind it: ruclips.net/user/ErgodicityTV. Perhaps worth noting, though, is that the famous coin toss that Graham uses here was just created to explain the concept of non-ergodicity; it is not a model of the world. That said, the coin toss is helpful in that it highlights how real-world systems where there interdependencies can seldom be understood through statistics only.

Doubling every year is not realistic for sure. But so interesting that the scenarios you've run generate bad, worse and worst outcomes. This represents a more sophisticated approach to analyzing the risks of startups. However, what would you recommend to shift these curves? Going out of business in 2 years, 7 years, or barely remaining in business 10 years out isn't very interesting. Can't wait to learn more about the collaboration / pooled approach that you describe for multi-product companies like Apple, P&G, etc. It mirrors my experience working with conglomerates and consortia around the world.
