I was planting pine trees at a farm roughly between Waione and Pongaroa, it wasn’t the Ruahines we were next too at one stage but this cliff face I guess was all but vertical, went for wee while. At the end of one day we were riding out on the Can-Am side by side and the 3 of us standing on the back noticed a hole in the middle of this cliff face. At a guess maybe the cave entrance looked 3m in diameter. A near circular circle. You would have to rock climb or absail to enter. Been intrigued ever since. Not too mention some of the caves on local farms here in the Wairarapa that aren’t on the record. Wish I appreciated that kind of stuff more back then. *some of the Wairarapa landscape looks like pyramids but obviously hard to tell now if it was. But there’s been a couple I’ve seen 1 out the back of Lagoon Hills Station Martinborough, this 1 hill looked like an upside ice cream cone with the pointy end. Another not far south from there a place called te awaiti. Not too mention the volcano we have out ngaumu forest. Know 2 people personally who have taken a/some of the crystals that are scattered around this volcano. 1 of them a forestry contractor who started falling asleep at the wheel only in Ngaumu Forest, he was told put the crystals back which he did and now he’s still contracting and fine. And another my bros old man, got a crystal from there, got it made into an engagement ring. Fiancé finds out/was told later he “found” the ring, throws it away. Breaks up. And till this day he’s not right. Superstitious huh.
