J. Robin Prescott — Hudson River Votive
Little song, whipped up in a three-day frenzy. St. George Terminal hides its dragonblood well.
------
Lyrics:
That theiving moon, when it lies
to waves just hungry for [morning | mourning]
shines its pale light into my eyes
And I nearly think
Upon the brink
It is bright and I am warming
I could never outrun winter
I can only pray for spring
My knuckles blue, you always knew
the chill the river brings
It comes and goes with the tide:
the taste of gin and of sea spray
Now and then a stranger confides
in a breath-warmed ear
as boats appear
to clip each contraband ray
I could never outrun winter
I can only pray for spring
Folded hands in foreign lands
and a hymn I'm too drunk to sing
I could never outrun winter
I'll...

The Mind Electric [8 Bit / NES Cover]
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.Год назад
Another old Hawaii: Part II cover taken from the shelf and dusted off! Some of this was used in my main cover of The Mind Electric during the bridge section, but it spun into an independent 8 bit versioin I tried to keep to the actual limitations of the NES soundchip: two pulse waves, a triangle wave, a noise channel, and a channel for samples. No panning, no volume control on the triangle wave...

Calming, if you look at it ʇɥɓᴉɹ. Cover of "The Mind Electric", from the Tally Hall-adjacent project "Miracle Musical". This was originally a little side project from a full vocal cover that I never quite got around to finishing. Given the current state of things (re: Joe Hawley), I thought now would be the best/worst time to push this out into the world.
wooo!
Wooo!
1:49 OMGGG I LOVE THE REFERENCE HERE
I would love this if it included the cut part (Laugh and Run track), other than that this was amazing. Very underated on subs, keep up the good work (even if this was a year ago)
Thank you! :)
Nice.
Thank you, Mr. Egbert! (I know nothing about Homestuck, but I’m an Undertale dweeb so I hope we are simpatico)
this is so good, and especially the post-verse intermission it's SO GOOD!!
Hello!! I was just wondering if I could perhaps use this in a video of mine, with given credit of course. Just wanted to ask for your permission, is it alright?
Absolutely, go ahead! Let me know when the video is up, I’d be very curious to see what you’ve made :)
This sounds like a Christmas song omg I love it
Most calm chaotic song
HPII REPOSTED
What are the strings playing the “see how the brain plays around” melody at the start from? Is it from a plugin or maybe are they real?
Definitely some plugins! It was probably mostly a mix of VSTs from Spitfire Labs and a soundfont called “Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra”. Maybe the trombones from a VST called Rinascimento, I can’t quite recall. Then I threw iZotopye’s vinyl plugin on top to get the distortion, stuttering, warping, etc
2:44 to end is the best of best part of song i have ever heard in my entire life for riel, tysm
Thank you! :D
THIS DESERVES A SEAL OF APPROVAL FROM ME 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m honoured!
Well I arrived one year too late, but alas it's still a banger
Au contraire, I reckon you’re just in time. Thanks for listening!

Guys, do i sing this cover next month for my singing competition?
You’d be braver than me! It’s a good day when I don’t get stunlocked trying to say “shrieking” lol Good luck with your competition!
@@jrobinprescott Thanks for your good luck, mate!!
Edit: GUYS IT'S IN 18 DAYS GRAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Also i legit had to sing "Introduction to the snow" yesterday, because i signed up for the competition, and I know the song like the back of my hand, so I'll just sing it. :∆ edit: i was talking about "The Mind Electric" when it came to "knowing it like the back of my hand" SORRY FOR NOT CLARIFYING-
Dude I can't stop coming back to this cover. I love love love it
_Keep it coming back, and coming back, and coming back, why don’t we…_ Seriously that’s lovely to hear, thank you! Glad you’ve been enjoying it!
I know its been months since I first commented here, but I wanted to come back down to the comments section to say that I've continuously come back to listen to this. Its an amazing cover, and genuinely captures a level of majesty from the original that few other covers can faithfully catch. Also seeing how often you reply to/heart any comments, I am fairly confident this compliment from me will be seen. What you've achieved here is a most glorious mark to leave on the world; this cover brings me a special kind of peace, which I cannot articulate, when I need to clear my head. Thank you for making this, genuinely.
Hello again! Oh my goodness, I’ve got no words. That’s so unbelievably kind, it has more than made my day. Sincerely, thank you for your comments (and of course, for listening!) :D
The instrumentals, demo refs and other refs in general are amazing
Thank you!
Its good! (P.S it’s unusual that everything is so slow, but it’s even cool!)
my ears have been blessed
OH MY GOD THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU J ROBIN PRESCOTT FOR BLESSING MY EARS WITH THIS
You’re most certainly welcome, thank you for listening!
i came back to this again and my giddy ahh wont stop getting goosebumps at the 8bit
The best part is this : 3:06
It was definitely the most fun part to make!
Epic
This is so weird to listen to, but in the best way. It feels so slimy, as if the song is coming from a victim of dementia rather than electoshock therapy. It feels the song is melting, and i love it. 10/10
This video have 2.2k views now but juat 12 comments. I think some people here got obsessed and listened to this a bit too much times (i will too)
I love this so much It kinda sounds like I’m listening to a play over the radio
So happy you enjoyed! I was inspired a lot by the old 1930s-50s radio shows I used to listen to with my grandfather, so it’s very cool to hear that connection was invoked a little!
@@jrobinprescott nice! You did a really good job
Oh my god i love this
So glad to hear it! :D
Yummy
cover is as unique as the chonny jash covers
That’s high praise, thank you!
I thought this was goin’ to be another chonny jash situation but it’s something else
This reminds me of the song "Everything is a lot" By will wood honestly.
The Horrorbrew electric
absolutely beautiful cover
Thank you! :)
@@jrobinprescott no, thank YOU for this awesome cover!
Almost brought me to tears. I dub thee, the best Mind Electric cover, of all known history.
I’m most honoured! Thank you :)
I straight up mixed this version with the lyrics version and it hit hard.
I know i commented already but i already know that listening to this is gonna hit different in a trip to six flags im going on Monday (Like seriously i legitimately teared up at the serfs part)
That’s so lovely to read, thank you :D Have fun! Enjoy the funnel cakes
Epic song indeed, deserves a Grammy!!
My my, thank you!
I also think the beginning parts of the cover are the best, the "Think of theese thoughts as limitless light" part lol
Electric chair simulator
The music that plays in my mind when I'm thinking about life:
Heya i hope you will respond to this. Can i maybe use your sound for a vid where i sing the lyrics to it? I will give credit
Go for it! Lmk if you do, I’d love to hear it :)
How did I get into the Theatre...? 🧐
Always werе. 🧑🚀🔫🧑🚀
Oh sh-... . 💀 💥🔫🧑🚀
you got noticed on the hawaii part 2 account ...
Like on the Twitter? Yeah I had heard about that! Absolutely wild…
okay, the cover is good, but you made the third reich flag at 2:45
Huh, TIL the Nazis briefly used an old tricolour alongside the other flag. I did not expect my Tally Hall fandom to lead me into a rabbit hole with the _SS Bremen_ in it, but here we are
@@jrobinprescottI’m surprised no one else pointed it out.
But it is mostly known as the German Empire flag rather than a naxi one though.
WHO SCRATCHED A LINE THROUGH THE VYNYL!!! Anyways, good cover for a song i unironically like-
This is fantastic. I stumbled upon it because of my love for your Mind Electric cover, and… MAN, this is just so good! Excellent work.
That’s extremely kind, thank you!
3:05 did you make this part to be more of a reference to labyrinth? (since the rythms of this part and labyrinth's entire rythm are very similar, if not the exact same)
Not directly, actually! That part of TME uses the same skeleton as Labyrinth, just with a different melody. I just repeated the “skeleton” to make an instrumental break there for pacing reasons
@@jrobinprescott i know those parts have the same skeleton, but i meant making purposefully chiptune-like so that it sounds more like labyrinth, but either way this cover is awesome!!
This cover is so awesome!!
Thanks! :D
The reference to murders in the climax hit close to home, my god the whole instrumental was worth a watch
I really love this cover because it’s not afraid to be unique and still captures the feeling of Hawaii Part: II.
Thank you! :)
