The "Young Boy" in the film is Bob Davidson. I went to high school with him at Point Grey High School in Vancouver where he came to study with his uncle, the Haida artist, Bill Reid. His great grandfather was Charles Edenshaw. They are a remarkable family whose talents and history are still being passed down through the generations. This art is not a dying art. 🤗

Absolutely LOVED these shorts when I was little. One of my all-time favorite shorts to watch on Canadian TV. Learned something new every time I watched these. Sparked a lifelong love of world history that's never abated to this day. The narrator's voice was always very soothing and simultaneously enthusiastic. Kitzel's periodic commentary was pretty cool. The voice of the narrator, Paul Soles, also did the voice of Peter Parker in the cartoon series "The Amazing Spider Man."

You would be amazed how much cartoons like this can influence a child to study history and be inspired by it... just like the man and his wife were to discover Trojan artifacts from reading history as a boy!

These educational shorts inspired my lifelong love of world history. As far as I knew, I was the only one in my elementary-school classes who ever watched, much less heard of, Professor Kitzel. Good stuff and good times!

I remember the adventures of professor kitzel. It would come on occasionally during the bugs bunny hour. I never really watched it but I always remembered that walk of his (:28-:32)😂. I didn't realize that it was actually educational, so I now wish that I did watch it all the way through.

Incredible. This used to play in Iran as well. Mid to late 70s. I used to love it as a kid. BUT do you realize that this episode is actually promoting stealing and smuggling antiques from their native lands and people?!!!! It’s incredible how in 4 decades our values have changed so much and a cartoon like this could not be shown anymore due to its insensitive subject

Historical narratives change as more information is uncovered and learned. These shorts are over five decades old (1971-1972), and so aspects of what is told in these narrative shorts may no longer necessarily be accurate. 🙂

KBHK 44 in San Francisco aired this during the 1970s. It aird between reruns of the Flintstones, Three Stooges, Little Rascals and other shows. Interesting fact is that Mount Royal is English for Montreal. Montreal is the French word.
