Last year when my house turned 31 I was told by my insurer that I had to get a new roof even though the old was was only 11 years old. So I called a couple companies and got estimates, the home is 3,550 sq ft under roof, one company said $18 grand for new shingles, another was $20k, and the third was a metal roof specialist that said $48,000 for standing seam good quality metal, but the thermal and soundproofing underlayment which really you must have is another $7,000, so $54,000. Oh right, because the solar pool panels are up there and also 32 years old they will not survive the removal and reinstall so that is another $8,000 to replace those. KaChing, a neat $62,000 to reroof to make the insurer happy. How are these guys staying in business? 11 years ago when the house was reshingled it cost $7,500. All I can think of are two things, one is I am going to have to sell my house at a steep discount because even though the roof is in good shape and does not leak I am being forced to replace it, and also, inflation is way WAY higher than government claims.

Question! Is this the only style of tilcor roof that is able to be installed on battens? Or all all the styles able to do so? Are there any styles that are not? Thank you.
