honestly, hearing about chris pratt being the voice of mario in the movie had me in stitches at first, but i was impressed at how *not terrible* it was. about as averagely alright as the rest of the movie.

as a side note, completely unrelated to the content of the video, i just wanna note something about youtube that i think is neat. aside from AAAAAAAAAAAALLLL of the complete and utter BS that youtube dishes out to its creators (and viewers) i think its super neat that if you say the word "subscribe" in a video, the subscribe button lights up. idky but i just think thats so damn neat.

No attempt was made whatsoever to direct Chris Pratt to embody the character of Super Mario. He played the role like a standard hollywood protagonist and does not at any point sound "like mario". Seriously.

Chris didn't even do bad. He's a great voice actor. Hell, he got famous because of his voice acting! He's just not doing the stereotype Italian accent. He's just a dude from Brooklyn lol

While he is iconic, and I like his voice overall, I've never thought Martinet's direction with Mario's voice made sense. Mario is a descendant of Italian immigrants, but not Italian himself. Lou Albano's rough voice makes a LOT more sense. Mario's accent should be Brooklyn, not Italian. (Oddly, the thing that convinced me of this was actually an interview with Martinet where he addressed the issue, saying he wanted a softer voice for the character because he thought kids would like it better.)

Finally, someone who actually thinks Kevin is actually a good voice actor for Mario

I personally believe that Mario's voice is ok if it's drastically different from the previous on which is why I am comfortable calling Chris, Charles, and Lou Mario but when his voice is too similar it just sounds uncanny

I'm glad you're giving Afghani credit where it's due. He's got big shoes to fill, but honestly I'm very confident he'll get his stride and make Mario shine in his own way. He is a good actor.

I'll be honest I enjoy Chris Pratt as Mario, sure Charles Martinet is ironic but when comes to Mario to Mario in my story Chris Pratt just fits his character more Charles Martinet would make him sound way more joyful in life while Chris Pratt in my head can make Mario more straightforward and casual and he's more then just working for Princess Toadstool Edit: Charles Martinet works for the Super Mario in the video games but Chris Pratt for me works in the movie and the Mario in my story who serves Princess Toadstool to provide for his family makes him more relatable

Yeah, Chris Pratt was a weird choice at first, but after seeing the movie I can say that he did a very good job at being Mario. Sure, some instances were a bit weird, but these moments very very few and spread out very far from eachother. Good work there Chris. You really made an impression with the community

Anyone can do regular Mario's voice, it's incredibly iconic and well known. But I personally enjoy voice acting Hotel Mario, the voices are so goofy but fun to do.
