    Help. I am using msfs202, pmdg 737-700, and mobiflight. I am trying to configure the displays. I am doing the exact same thing you are doing except I am not using prosim. When I type in the offset for the for any of them ex. 0x66ED and the bytes of 2 just like you do with the same digits, my sim and output in mobiflight are both still 0. none of them work. Is it because I am not using prosim?

      You should watch my video #14. There I present all the components I'm using. In short, I'm using Acrylic One. A two component product that isn't as toxic as epoxy and can be sanded really well. To glue pieces of XPS together I used spray glue. This doesn't destroy the foam.

    Hi Michael, is your backlight fully working? As I can see at 7.15 in the video, the bars are located behind the texts at the top of the panels. Maybe a small suggestion for easier mount (at least works for me) is to use some kind of T-nuts on the back bar like en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-nut, then you use bolts from the back of the mip.

      Yes, not one of my best designs. But maybe I don't need to unmount it too often. I haven't tested the backlighting until now because I have to change the cables. My current ones are too thin for the car plugs

    Hi I want to build a filter too and have watched your video many times and did my research. What really boggles my mind is that you have used an inline fan, while all the places on the internet say that inline fans are not good for enough pressure generation to suck the air through all the filter layers. Those sources suggest that we must use centrifugal fan to generate enough pressure. I want to make my filter just like yours but I am not sure about the fan. Can you please share your fan specs with us. Thanks a ton in advance.

    Hi Michael, thanks for video. We have now June 2024. Can you please give short update about your filter system? Did you need to update the design? After how many hours of laser cutting did you change the filters?

    • @Mickeys_Flightdeck
      @Mickeys_Flightdeck 4 месяца назад

      Until now there was no need to change the filters. The pre-filters show some change of color but not more. I'm not lasering too much and so there is still a lot of life span left over. I think you would have to change them more quickly if you are cutting more wood.

    I used hall sensors instead of microswitches with a magnet in the handle. With 3d printed pockets the hall sensors can be positioned accurately and dont experience mechanical forces. Btw, I made the same locking mechanism mistake. I could not find any documentation on how it should work in real life. I am glad you solved the mystery but I wont make a version 2 ;-)

    This was a great video. How do you figure out the filter requirements and fan power? 7:35 ish. That is what I am most worried about, making a filter system but the fan is not enough to pull the dust and smoke from the machine effectively.

    • @Mickeys_Flightdeck
      @Mickeys_Flightdeck 5 месяцев назад

      Honestly I haven't looked up, what the laser needed. I have made sure that the new inline fan harmonized with the filters. I thought it was more importend to match the filter requirements. And I looked fore several videos on youtube where other users have built such a system and looked after the filters they used.

      @@Mickeys_Flightdeck Thank you for the reply. I was more meaning how to factor the filter(s) and fan (I have a better understanding, sort of, now) and not really the laser air requirements. Because I can use this also as a general room filter to help with cats as well.

    Hello Michael, Do you have a video or a page on your website that explains why it takes 3 pieces of plexiglass (some of which are only partially painted) to make a part of the 737? Why not cut out already painted plexi and possibly make small touch-ups if the CNC has caused some damage? And why not engrave the texts before cutting the pieces to be sure you are in the right place? Thanks in advance for your answers ! Thank you for all your sharing which is very inspiring to make you want to start!

      Video #38 is the first one concerning panel making. It should be clear after this why to use three layers. Spoiler: You need space to hide the mounting nut of the switches. Doing the cutout and engraving at the same time can be done but you would have unpainted edges after this, where the backlight will come through.

    Quick question. Do you really need to exhaust the air? Can it not just go back to the room? This would save a lot on heating costs.

    • @Mickeys_Flightdeck
      @Mickeys_Flightdeck 7 месяцев назад

      You can do it and when I only have to cut one single piece I do it like this. But the percentage of oxygen in the air doesn't become better with a filter system and it is still used and little bit contaminated air. So I think it is the best decision to get it out of the room. And I'm not living here in an arctic region. The window opening is closed with a 18 mm OSB plate when the filter is in use and the vent is pressing the air to the outside. I think the heating isn't the main cost producer.

    I haven't seen an answer to your question from this video, about the 9.53K resistor. Just in case you haven't figured it out yet, here is my answer. If you use a 9.69K resistor (9.53K is probably close enough) then each of your segments will receive a 40mA current. If your LEDs had a 3.5 forward voltage and were rated to accept this sort of current (40mA) they could potentially work, especially if you had further current limiting resistors connected to each segments input. 9.53K is a bare minimum resistance for special cases, it seems and they probably shouldn't have used it in there schematic. 47K which is what you chose in the end, is a very sensible choice as it brings the current down to acceptable values for your 7 segment LEDs, which are probably rated to accept 20mA. The current given out to each segment is about 100 times the current that goes into the MAX7219 chip at pin 18, according to the documentation. So, if you had it connected to 5V with the 9.53K resistor, pin 18 was receiving about 0.52mA. Therefore it was giving out about 52mA to each segment. I'm not an electronics professional, but I believe my answer is correct and hope it helps you.

    Building a home cockpit now, but these panels have me the most anxious in how to accomplish. Im a general contractor, with engineering background, so can build things, but know nothing about how to go about accomplishing this type of detailed cut and etching.
