Hi everyone, I'm TheWaddler. I play a lot of games, so I thought I might as well stream while I'm at it! I stream on Twitch most days and will be uploading some highlights on here. Follow me to see when I go live!
Ripping 'n' Crashing, Fast Flying Practice / After 7 weeks of FPV / BetaFPV Air65R
Here are some clips flying the BetaFPV Air65R as fast as I felt comfortable around the house. This is from a couple of weeks ago now.
I modded the Air65R to decrease the camera angle with a bit of extra plastic and some silicone tube. Might make a video about that at some point.
I'm flying/crashing the BetaFPV Air65R after 130-ish hours in various FPV sims with a PS4 controller (DRL Sim, FPV Logic, FPV Skydive, Liftoff, Liftoff Micro, Tryp, Uncrashed).
Let me know what you think 👍

Stick around until the end for the power loop, my first indoors on DVR! This is my first flight where I remembered to use the Insta360 Go 3S stick cam I bought specifically! I got the Air65 racing with the higher KV motors in case I want to take it outside at some point, but I will mainly be flying it indoors to get more stick time when it's raining and during the colder months. Here is one of my cleanest indoor flights with the Air65R to date, I've probably flown about 25 packs at this point. Previous flights have been plagued with crashes and me practising flips and rolls and the odd power loop, badly. Speaking of, in one crash the UFL popped off for the antenna, so I reckon the vtx got damaged a bit. The video quality is a bit worse than when I first flew it, even f...

Today was one of those days, an awful day flying. I felt like the drone was magnetised to all the branches and trees, I couldn't stop crashing into everything, and I wasn't even pushing myself. Hence, this was my best line. I tried a cradle twice before and clipped the branches, but this time it worked. The front flip over the branch I had done successfully twice before, but failed twice as wel...

How does this fly indoors compared to your Cetus X? Considering the Cetus Pro or the air65. Can’t decide.
I was typing a detailed reply on the differences, but as I started to compare them, the Air65 is just better. The Cetus Pro doesn't look like it has any adjustable camera angle, whereas the Air65 does, though both will probably be too high for a beginner, or even some intermediate pilots, anyway (I've modded my Air65 to lower the camera angle). The Cetus frame is hard plastic and will break with hard crashes (like mine did on concrete), whereas the Air65's frame is softer plastic and is a bit flexible. Paired with the lighter weight, the Air65 will bounce off most things before it breaks, though the canopy is a bit stiffer and is the most likely thing to break, so be careful flying under stuff. The Cetus Pro frame, if it's anything like the Cetus X frame (which it mostly is), isn't very good for intermediate moves like dives, power loops or split-s, it catches too much air underneath resulting in tonnes of propwash. The Air65s frame is more aerodynamic in the Y axis (like when you're falling), but indoors you're not likeliest to do much of that anyway unless you have a big at least two story house. The Cetus Pro uses the FrSky protocol, whereas the Air65 uses the more widely adopted ExpressLRS. I haven't compared the two, but I don't think many people will dispute me saying that ELRS is better ... we'll see. I got the Cetus X kit because it was ELRS and I thought it would be able to grow with me a little, but it isn't quite as versatile as I hoped. It's fine for the Cetus and Air65, and will be fine for the Air75 I have coming, but I got an AvionRC Ikon 3 too and the video signal is terrible because of the different antenna polarities and the range of the radio isn't great. I'm going to swap the antenna on the drone to a linear like the goggles and hopefully that'll make it usable at least, but I'm already looking to upgrade and I've only been flying for 7 weeks! Hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by and the question! 🙏 Edit: The only thing that the Cetus Pro has that the Air65 doesn't is altitude hold and some other beginner friendly features, but you're not likeliest to use those anyway as they're only on in the beginner modes and you probably want to fly acro.
@@TheWaddler Very helpful, thank you! Are you considering upgrading your goggles?
You're welcome 👍 Yes, but I haven't decided to what yet, that's why I'm hoping the linear antenna on the Ikon 3 will postpone the decision. My original plan for when I outgrew the BetaFPV VR03 goggles was that I might be ready for HD by that point and I would go for the HDZero goggles. But as I'm only 7 weeks in, I'm not ready to dump that kinda money on goggles just yet! I'm looking at the SkyZone Cobra X goggles, but they feel like kinda a waste as they're only good for analog. I don't want several analog goggles, because they're typically only good for analog and I don't very often sell stuff. HDZero are releasing a new cheaper goggle at some point in the near future so I'm crossing everything that they too have a module bay or at least a HDMI in.
@TheWaddler just so you know its fine to use a linear antenna with a circular polarized antenna, you do get about 3db of losses compared to having both linear on the quad and the goggles but you gain the advantage that you get the same signal regardless of the orientation of the quad. 2 linears may get you better range when the antennas are perfectly parallel but as soon as they aren't the signal goes out the window compared to the losses with a circular polarized and a linear at around 20db. I would say your problem is more likely to be that your vtx is stuck at 25mw or in pitmode, you may have to unlock it somehow. That or you have a loose antenna connection somewhere
Thanks for the comment benryfpv. The problem is the linear is on my goggles and the circular is on my drone, the other way around I don't think it would be so bad. I tried my VTX at every power output up to its max of 600mw and the problem is the same, it's also not in pit mode. Though I don't have the kit to verify that the output is what it says in Betaflight. I've also reseated the mmcx on the VTX and it's still there. It's possible that the antenna wire got broken somewhere in transit, but I can't verify that either. I get black rolling static at certain points and it's basically unflyable. I've barely flown it at all. No one can seem to answer what the problem is, but AvionRC support says they know some that had the problem too and it seems that diversity on an ImmersionRC Rapidfire fixed it. Edit: Also the weird thing is that the static is not recorded in the DVR recording on the goggles, the video is completely clean!
What piece of gear are you thinking of upgrading next?
Sorry, I thought I'd already replied. That's a good question. I bought an AvionRC Ikon 3 and it doesn't play well with my goggles, but I'm having trouble deciding what to do. I've changed the antenna on my goggles and the drone and the issue is still there so it must be my goggles. But as it's coming into winter and I'm probably not going to be flying it much, I think I should wait. I had planned to upgrade to HDZero at some point, but because I'm only 7 weeks into the hobby, I'm not ready to spend that much on gear yet. But I also don't want another set of purely analog goggles, because I think they'll be a waste. HDZero are releasing a cheaper set of goggles at some point, so I'm hoping they'll be what I'm looking for, ideally with an option for analog too (like a module bay or HDMI in). If I do get another set of analog goggles it could be the Skyzone Cobra X. I also want to upgrade my radio to the Radiomaster Boxer, because my Lite Radio 3's range isn't great as it has internal antennas. It's an issue on the Ikon 3, but not the Cetus X or Air65. Again I haven't decided which Boxer to get, Standard, Max or Crush. I'm leaning toward the Crush as it still has the AG01 gimbals like the Max, but it's cheaper.
What goggles and remote are u using?
Thanks for watching 🙏 I'm using the BetaFPV VR03 goggles and the BetaFPV Lite Radio 3 that came in my BetaFPV Cetus X RTF kit.
Amazing as always. Waddle on homie!
Cheers bro 🙏
Hey, I'm interested in getting into this. What would I need to get started? I'm looking at the site, but there are a lot of parts, and I'm unsure what is absolutely necessary. I've tried a lot of fly VR apps, and this seems like it would be fun. Where did you get your headset? Add is the feed just a recording or is this the feed you are seeing as well?
First off, make sure you start in an FPV sim, not vr, they aren't the same. Fly in the sims first because you will crash A LOT and it will cost you a fortune if you crash your drone IRL. There is a list in the description of the ones I have played, DRL and FPV Skydive have good beginner tutorials. You can follow Joshua Bardwell's Learn to Fly FPV playlist in the sim: ruclips.net/p/PLwoDb7WF6c8lCKhQOTy-Vb9LfW0VAIrTP&si=EISnOezF6IYaWvNA Spend at least 10 hours flying in the sim and make sure you're mostly comfortable with at least the first eight of Bardwell's lessons (number eight is a troubleshooting one, so seven really) before flying IRL. If you have already spent the time in the sim and want to fly IRL, you will need a drone, lipo batteries, radio and goggles. I'd recommend getting a RTF (ready to fly) kit, that way it'll come with everything you need and that's guaranteed to work together. Here's a good video for an idea, I have the Cetus X kit: ruclips.net/video/0qaN7sU8V_0/видео.htmlsi=jRG2EvZ7jcaUHr2U Analog is the cheapest option, which this is. This is what the goggles are displaying and recording. I could throw much more information at you, because there is a lot to learn in this hobby, but I'll leave it there for now. Those are the basics and will get you in the air eventually. Take your time, don't get discouraged, FPV ain't easy. Hope that helps, good luck and happy flying 👍
People don’t realize how hard flying fpv is!
It ain't easy, people think it's like playing video games. Thanks for watching 🙏
Hi, yesterday I also received the drone (Meteor 75 Pro) and however I wasn't able to bind so I did it this morning, and I did my first flights, and the drone goes too too fast =), so for now to get used to it I fly in angle and slowly while I get used to it I pass in acro mode. Tomorrow I think I'll go out a bit because I don't know how to manage the power much, but surely with time and consistency I will be able to fly it even at home in acro mode. I see that you are now a Pro Fpv Pilot and I also tried the pitch grip but I don't feel very comfortable with it, I prefer the thumb grip. While I'm flying and I have the drone passing by me and feel the air, I enter in a state of anxiety and lose control 😵💫. Then, above all, if you are a beginner, 6 lipos are not enough, I would like at least 50🤣 . But I did 12 lipos today and I think I'll do 6 again soon. Have a good flight =).
Nice dude, happy flying 🎉 Here's a trick, change the throttle mid and add some throttle expo. You could probably set both these at 30, but to best set it you'll need to turn your throttle position on in the osd then go fly. You're looking for the throttle position where you're moving forward at a constant speed and you're not losing or gaining height. This is the number you set the throttle mid. The throttle expo is how much resolution you want around the throttle mid, more resolution means the drone won't be as twitchy on the throttle. You could also scale the throttle down a bit meaning max throttle will be only whatever percentage you pick. I'd suggest 60-70% should make it much more controllable. Add the throttle mid and expo first: oscarliang.com/rates/#Throttle-Mid-and-Throttle-Expo ... that might be enough, if not scale the throttle: oscarliang.com/reduce-power-throttle-taranis-betaflight/ Hope that helps 👍
@@TheWaddler Ok Thanks , tomorrow i Will test it
You're gonna be RaceGOW in no time.
Haha maybe, I haven't really looked into it 🙏
Wow homie, just something like adding gates really highlights the progress. Great rips, you're getting so clean! You ever fly 2s?
The Cetus X I fly outdoors is 2s and I might end up getting a Air75 as a jungle gym basher as Ciotti would say! Thanks a bunch dude 🙏
But why did you choose to hold the radio like this, I saw that you did sim with a PS4 controller, in my case I'm good with the controller style grip.
Good question. I always thought I would thumb, but as soon as I got a proper radio and realised how far the sticks move, after the first couple of flights (or it might have been my second session, of four packs), I knew I had to try pinching. I still have my thumbs on top, but when the sticks get too far for the range of motion in my thumbs the index fingers take over. Plus I found I was too twitchy with just thumbs, so having the index fingers touching the sticks helped smooth out the movements. 🙏
@@TheWaddler Ok, because after many hours of Simulator I also bought myself a kit, which has yet to arrive 🫠. I also use the PS4 controller and now on Wednesday the RadioMaster Pocket arrives, and I hope I don't have to change the grip because this way (controller style) I feel very comfortable. Now that you told me that it is possible to feel uncomfortable due to the Sticks being too high 😬 , I hope that the Sticks don't give me problems. But in my case of the Pocket I can change the sticks and adjust them, I don't know if the beta fpv one also has the possibility.
Not everyone changes, there are many great pilots who are thumbers! It's whatever feels comfortable to you, but as GarethDix said in his getting started with FPV just try it for a bit and see. He is also a gamer and thought he'd be a thumber, but now he hybrid pinches. Can't remember if I've asked you already, how many hours do you have in the sim so far? Just curious, as I'd be interested to see your first flights if you'll upload them or hear about your progress. The Lite Radio 3 has the possibility to change the stick ends, but I couldn't find any in stock that I thought would suit me, so that was another reason I changed to hybrid pinch. It only took me a day or so to get used to it, but I changed pretty early on in my "first radio" experience.
@@TheWaddler Ok Thanks for the reply. I have almost 50 hours in sim, if you want I can send you on telegram a video on how I fly. I can post my first flight in about 1 month on RUclips because everything still has to come and then obviously I'll see how to publish my progress and my first experiences on YT. 😄
@@Son1c55 No problem. I don't use telegram unfortunately, so no worries. I'll look forward to seeing your first flights in a month or so then 👍
Nicee!! In every video i can see u go a bit faster. Keep Going =)
And I was still holding back because I still don't want to go too fast and lose control. Thanks man 🙏
I can’t believe how different this is to your first flight a few weeks back!! Amazing progress

Hi, where can I download this map?
Not sure where it is anymore, you'll have to ask in the Beam Wheeler discord: discord.gg/YjWGN4kd
您好,我在哪里可以下载这张地图?
Oh! This sort of thing exists?! I'm just starting simulator training, but I'll move on to something like this as soon as I can
It sure does! Tiny 65mm drone that is perfect for indoor flying. Nice, are you using a proper radio or a video game controller? I played so much with a game controller that moving to a proper radio IRL was quite different! If you're serious, get a radio asap. Regardless don't rush the training, focus on learning the basics first like throttle control and smooth flight, especially if you plan on doing close proximity stuff like this. That will help more than just getting in a sim and yeeting the drone into space! Happy flying!!
what is the most realistic sim?
Sorry I missed this. I said this in a previous comment, but none of them really. There are some that have realistic feeling physics (gravity mainly), but most of them aren't realistic because they don't incorporate air simulation, though they'll get you half of the way there. Here are my picks; the one I've spent most time in is FPV Logic, because the maps are phenomenal and the most interesting for freestyle, if you want to race then probably DRL, and if you want to fly whoops then Liftoff Micro Drones.
Nice!!! The first day and this is very different =), we see the progress. video when u fly outdoor whit this whoop =)
That means a lot, thanks dude 🙏 FYI, it's been three weeks since I got my Cetus X! Unfortunately I don't plan on flying this Air65 outside, I don't think I'll gain anything from it. Atm I want to keep this as an indoor only bird, for winter and rainy days. I may get an Air75 or equivalent for a 'closer to whoop experience' outdoors, but for now the CetusX is my outdoor rig. Speaking of, I got some good flying outdoors with the CetusX today, so I'll be uploading that in the coming days 😉 *Spoiler alert/Teaser* Think power and split 😁
You're killing it! Hella good job on going acro.
Thanks so much man 🙏 Thought acro was better than air for the low flying I'm doing atm. Check my reply to vcuelectronik for the full explanation of why I think that 👍
Good progress! Why acro instead fo air mode?
Good question! I felt, with the type of flying I'm doing at the moment being so close to the ground, that air mode would fight me every time I touched the ground. If I clipped something I would drop the throttle (I don't know if that's the right thing to do), but that meant that I would more often than not touch the ground, because I was flying so low. Then obviously the quad would start bouncing, so I felt it was better just to turn off air mode. I have it set up on my right hand three position switch; furthest away from me is air mode on, middle is air mode off and closest to me is turtle mode. When I get my gates from Tiny Whoop and set some up hanging from the ceiling, I might switch back to air mode because I might be doing more 0 throttle moves and air mode will help, but as I'm flying now I don't think it's needed.
You got out and did it homie! That's all that matters!
Exactly, stick time ftw! Thanks man 🙏
Nice! Flying indoors isn’t so easy!
Thanks man! Somehow the drone feels much bigger flying than it does holding it or comparing it to my Cetus X!! Keep thinking I can get through a gap and then hit a duct and crash 😭😅
im not too far down the learning curve bro i got my cetus (vanilla) last wednesday and im trippin balls becoz i did a flip saturday. i truely hope i can fly great in super tigh spaces by the winter cuz i got a 3 room appartment and two cats i dont wanna hurt
Eyy nice! Yeah I bought an Air65 because the CetusX is too powerful to fly indoors, flew it for the first time today. You should be fine with the OG Cetus indoors, with some practice. Quick question, have you spent any time in the sim before flying for real? Not to judge, just curious, and did you think it helped? I'd say your cats are going to love chasing it more than you risk hurting them! 😅
Pwrsonaly i couldnt fly in 4sqm
It's more like 20mx12m, so 240sqm, but I get your point. I'm more about close proximity freestyle flying (though I'm yet to try proper freestyle tricks IRL), rather than long-distance cruisy flights, but each to their own. My plan when I build a proper open prop quad, so not a whoop which is all I have currently, it will only be a 3-inch, so the speed and flight space won't be massive like a 5 inch. I want to stay sub 250g because of the drone laws here in the UK.
Difference between sim and real life for me is 0
The difference between the sims and IRL isn't as big as I thought, after experiencing it. The only thing that no sim has, that is the biggest factor in portraying realistic flight, is air simulation. The drone behaves differently and unexpectedly when doing close proximity flying and no simulation can replicate that yet. Aside from the floaty physics some simulations have, the physics are mostly there in terms of the realism of gravity and thrust, but I only have the 2 inch Cetus and now a Air65 (indoors) to relate the physics to. So the difference to me isn't drastic, but it's there.
Quite shocked. 130hrs? U should be ripping. Sim must be shit
I said in the description, I was playing the sim with a PS4 controller. It's totally different to a proper radio. If you check out some of my latest uploads you can see that I'm getting used to the radio now.
@TheWaddler oops I didn't see that part. Of course that doesn't count then. With that said your doing very well! Sorry for the fup
Thanks for the honesty, it's all good 🙏 I definitely hit a point of diminishing returns in the sim with a PS4 controller and I would have benefitted from getting a proper radio much sooner, but I still enjoyed it, plus it's help with some muscle memory. I only carried on because I hadn't gotten a real drone yet, I didn't set 130 hours as a target.
And I put that as the title for clicks, I knew I was going to get people call it out and not read the description, this ain't my first RUclips rodeo 😉

Thanks man, pretty pleased with how well I can do them IRL! 🙏 Haven't been able to fly so far this week because it's been raining 😭 Going to get an Air65 for flying round the house while it's raining and for when winter comes. When they come back in stock that is 😭
oldguyFPV; That's the ticket! Fly safe, fly free!
Thanks man 🙏 Happy flying!
i was about to type lower the cam angle a bit hehehe you got this, just remember flying a tiny quad is much harder than a 5 inch or even 3inch. also i'm not sure how bad the radio is, next step would be buy a full sized radio, then decide what kind of flying you want to do first.
Haha! The canopy on the Cetus X is good in that you can adjust the angle easily, but every crash it adjusts itself. Check out my other flights, they're much more different 😉 I'm using the LiteRadio 3 that came with the kit, it's alright, but it's definitely the thing I'll upgrade first. I've got an Inst360 now so I can have a stick cam. Probably going to pick up a Boxer Max as a proper radio. I'm going to get a 65mm whoop next so I can fly that indoors during winter and to compare to the 2 inch Cetus X, but then I'll build a 3 inch as my first big boy open prop quad and keep it sub250. I'll be flying freestyle only, not interested in racing or long range 👍 Thanks for watching 🙏
Ouch… if it makes you feel better I’m probably going to add a crash reel to my next video 😂
It was bound to happen, I don't feel too bad about it, but thanks, I'm interested to see your experience with crashes. I don't wish for anyone to crash, because it can be expensive, but it comes with the territory, plus it reminds us that we're only human, we make mistakes and from time to time, even the pros do as well! Thanks for watching 🙏
@@TheWaddler here’s the secret no-one tells you… you never stop crashing, you just learn how to crash harder and worry less about it 😂
@GarethDix Haha ain't that the truth! 😂
After 130 hours in a sim your skills would be way beyond the capabilities of a Cetus.
No doubt, but I say in the description, I was using a PS4 controller. I'm not '130 hours of experience' good on a proper radio and that's what's holding me back atm.
Drunk driver! :)
Haha clearly! 🙏
Very nicee good work =)
Thanks a lot 🙏
Yoo, nice vids good progress, but u do any other fly or only 1 flight in a single day?
Cheers 🙏 The Cetus X kit comes with four 1S batteries and the drone takes 2S, so you get two flights with the base kit. I bought an extra four batteries, so I have four packs. Because of work I only get time to fly four packs in the evening and by the time I've eaten and charged the batteries again it's getting dark and not worth flying again.
you should set up another camera or your phone to record audio and sync it up in post, it will realy bring the footage to life.
Yeah I really should, good shout. My phone's running short on space though. Maybe I'll have to splash out for a GoPro ...
Haha, this is a really cool video!! I have the same experiences at the moment. I had around 30 hours simulator training and then wanted to know how far I have come and started flying my Cetus X in the field two weeks ago. My results so far: frame broken (after crashing into a crane and falling down about 20 meters), cam module destroyed (after full-speed head-on collision with a steel beam) and one prop fallen off :D I count this as "apprenticeship fee", ordered enough spare parts and I am always back in the air quick. The Cetus X is an incredible piece of fun, but the sheer power makes it a bit difficult to control...
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience 🙏 There definitely is a learning fee, check out my latest video 😏 You're less likely to make the same mistakes if it actually costs money ... maybe haha! Speaking of the "too powerful", got a great tip from @RCwithAdam 's Cetus X video. In Betaflight (not sure if you can do it with the other version), change the throttle mid to 0.30 and add 0.30 of expo. It makes it much easier to control 👍 I'll probably end up removing it at some point though, when I get better stick control.
@@TheWaddler so far I just capped the max throttle at 70%, as I thought this would be a good idea. But I will try like you wrote.
@@SaarKing71 See what you think 👍 This method works different than a throttle cap or motor limit. The expo definitely makes it softer, but the key part is the throttle mid. Having done some research, Oscar Ling has a good explanation: oscarliang.com/rates/#Throttle-Mid-and-Throttle-Expo But basically, setting throttle mid only works by also setting expo. It puts the expo on the throttle mid value giving you more throttle resolution at that point, so in this case 30%. The idea is to set the throttle mid at your cruising speed so that you have more resolution for the fine movements on the throttle at that point. This way you still keep 100% of the motor max in case you need it, to get out of dives or power loops for example (though I'm not there yet).
Please stay connected 😊
Hopefully 👍🙏
Yoo, i see your vids, about the 130hr in simulator, you are a good fpv pilot and the difference between the sim and the real life is crazy, in 1 month i will get my first fpv kit: Meteor 75 Pro, Pocket, Eachine 800DM; Good Fly =)
Thank you so much 🙏 Nice choices there, looking forward to seeing some of your first flights with the new kit when it arrives 👍
Awesome! You help people like me manage realistic expectation. This requires a lot of practice. Nice that you have a full place at home to practice and have fun
Thanks dude 🙏 It definitely does require practice, but real IRL practice. There is definitely a point of diminishing returns in the sim. No matter how close the physics are in a sim, they won't be the same as real life. Sims definitely have their place for building the foundations, but I should have gotten out flying IRL sooner and I think that would have benefitted me much more. I also definitely see a lot of potential in my garden for fun lines, can't wait to get more comfortable to be able to explore them!
Well done. I can appreciate you more than likely couldnt use that drone in the sim? Whereas with dji its nearly exactly like real life, so took me bout 10hours to get it sorted in acro
Liftoff Micro Drones has a Cetus X so I had flown this drone a bit in the sim beforehand. I only flew 130 hours in the sim because I hadn't got a real drone yet, not because I needed to spend that much time to get better. There was definitely a point where I didn't get any better in the sims because I was using a PS4 controller. If I'd have started the sims with a proper radio then i definitely wouldn't have needed all that time.
I spent 10hours in simulator, crashed flying it drunk doing a quadruple roll. just nipped the ground. A bit of damage. Havnt crashed since. DJI FPV. I know it's not the same. It's a hybrid. But imo the best way to start flying. 10hours is all I needed to be confident enuf to fly well in manual. I will by the typical fpv eventually. But so far I am enjoying flying fast and far. The little space thing doesn't appeal to me
Each to their own. I'm interested in freestyle, tricks and gaps, not racing or long range. I also don't think I'll ever buy DJI, but you never know. My plan when I decide to move to a digital HD system is to go with HDZero, I'm not that big into closed source technologies. No Apple or DJI for me thanks 😅
@TheWaddler definitely not apple. The thing i like about dji is you take it out of the box and fly it. Simple as that. I probably get a 5" with 03 unit so I can use my current control and goggles. I like the smart things about dji fpv like when you loose signal and can't see anything it stops and ascends and returns home. Very useful and money saving
you know what would be funny - to be able to share drone links across the world (ye i know lots of problems but just imagine for a sec) - to be able to fly and explore FPV where you will never be physically - maybe in 10 years with 7G and better geo fencing / rules so the admin can RTH the drone on problems etc.
That would be so cool! We can dream
im so hyped my controller should arrive in 2 day
You'll love it dude! What did you get?
I’d recommend finding a controller you like and sticking to it. The controller that comes with the Cetus is ok, but a radiomaster pocket is so much better. It’s also not $300 for a controller so that’s nice. Does this have elrs? If it does the pocket will pair right up with it. If not you’ll still need the Cetus unfortunately. I bought my pocket before I bought a drone and spent my sim practice with that. Hope you keep having fun with it though!
Yes it's elrs. I plan on getting a Boxer, probably the max, as my first proper radio, but I'm going to use this as much as I can first. Yeah this is a bit small for hybrid pinching, but if I can get good with this setup then I'll be amazing on a boxer max! One can hope 😅
@@TheWaddler sometimes you develop habits that you don’t realize by using a certain set of sticks. I spent a ton of time on my pocket and when I tried a tiny hawk controller it felt so odd and I had to adapt to that. Don’t get me wrong once you reach a certain level you can general pick up anything that’s tuned and fly it. Just comes down to how you want to fly it.
@@stuartwilson5827 That's very true. Maybe I won't spend quite as much time with this radio as I planned, but I am only on my fourth day with it and I doubt habits from that quickly. I definitely picked up the odd bad habit from the PS4 controller that I used in the sims for 130 hours, like 0 throttle isn't centre stick 😂 Thanks for the advice 🙏
@@TheWaddler no problem you got this! We are all in this together! Hope to see more!
@@TheWaddler Deff get a Boxer!
You won’t realise how good this is for a second day until you see what most people’s first few packs are like
Thanks man, I was pretty proud 🙏 Probably going to visit my local playing field when the wind has calmed down to get some height and try some split-s. I want to split-s the gap between the centre tree and the willow in the far right (from where I'm stood), without sending the drone into another garden 😂 Hopefully this week 🤞
@@TheWaddler as you're flying around the garden I'm thinking I would do this and this in that space... but 2 days in I think I would be thinking I'm not sure I can keep it on this side of the fence 🤣
use both sticks when turning to get smoother and quicker turns from your quad, but you doing good. keep strong and fly my friend.
also my friend fastest way to burn an esc is turtle mode flip over in grass, even a bit of grass can impede prop and overload esc and you get the magic smoke.
Yeah I know coordinated turns, I just wasn't used to my radio yet as these were my first four flights. I need to upload my flights from yesterday as I was much more confident . Now you mention it I do remember hearing that about turtle mode. I was only doing short bursts and it's only a small quad so I don't think it's pulling enough amps to blow it, but I'll bear it in mind. Thanks for reminding me 🙏
Be prepared for your wallet to hurt lmao welcome to the hobby bub. Great first flights. You went the way most people should. I went for a 4s 5 inch vannystyle right out the gate. Keep it up!🔥
Haha thanks 🙏 Oh wow, how long did that Vannystyle last you?
@TheWaddler I still have it as my daily ripper. Just broke an arm hear and there and also getting into racing so that's where most of my money goes right now but it's all worth it
@@EuniceFPV Oh nice, it's done you well then! I'm focussing on freestyle, but enjoy 👍
Awesome! My first done was the betafpv Aquila 16. Major regret, your next drone will be so amazing.
What did you upgrade to from the Aquilla? As far as I could tell from the reviews the Aquilla was alright as a cinewhoop, but pretty incapable as a freestyle drone. That's why I went for the Cetus X, because it was at least capable of intermediate acro tricks. Once I get comfortable with intermediate tricks (or break it) I'll build a 3 - 3.5".
Awesome! another one bit by freestyle FPV bug! It’s a fun hobby for sure. Keep it flying 💪
For sure, I was bitten a couple of years ago and spent so much time in the sims that I thought it was about time I bought one! Loving it so far 👍
