This song could be interpreted so many different ways, but for me personally, it describes the catharsis of finally having the peace/love that you want I imagine a rainy, cold night, laying on your back in bed. Your sheets are half on you, half off, making your body over aware of the difference between the sharp chill and soothing warmth. Lying there, looking up at a window in your ceiling, seeing the periodic flashing of thunder and drips of rain coming to a halt as they land on the skylight. And you lay there, you long. You long for a single person, a being that you may trust with your heart, mind, and body. You long for that warmth coming from your sheets to be coming from their own body, holding you, or being held by you. The reality that you do not have what you want; that you have always longed and wanted that level of care but do not have it, makes the cold bite harder and the warmth bittersweet. All you can do is continue to lay on your back, watching the rain splash on your skylight, longing with every fiber of your being This song to me, is the cathartic feeling of finally getting that care. Not even the joy, or gratitude, but the relief.
