I created this video for my list of 8 mindblowing audio illusions over at: meteoritesound.com/8-audio-illusions-that-will-blow-your-mind/ There are so many Shepard tones out there. But this is a perfect example where you won't hear any tones beginning or ending. You can see how it's all working by looking at the spectrum on the screen. The tones feed in from the bottom continuously and move up....

This is an auditory illusion, where a virtual piano is fed a MIDI file containing the notes of Aqua Barbie Girl. The brain interprets the piano keys as singing. This is a quite subtle audio illusion. At first, your brain learns that the dot corresponds with the sound. Then the sound is played twice while the dot is only displayed once. You are supposed to feel the dot blinking twice when the sound is played twice, despite it's not happening.
