Ministry of Transport Motorcycle Display Team at Okara Park cicra 1989
Просмотров 7639 лет назад
The venue is Okara Park in Whangarei in New Zealand. The display Team were one of many attractions for an extravaganza. The display begins with the XJ750 of Alastair Nisbet chased by Steve Bow also on an XJ750. The banking at Okara Park is quite steep, so a little tricky even on the straights. Grass meant caution during the display on mostly BMW R80s. The display finishes with a couple of wheel...

Michael Wilson and Ross Jolly do a funny skit on "viewers' rights" when stopped by an MOT Traffic Officer. Seriously outdated but great fun.

The final year of the Castrol 6 Hour. Due to low entry numbers in 1989 the event was cancelled and has not been run since.
I remember watching this on tv when he did it
Check Wheelie King 6
I saw Doug's Tricks a few times at the Red Bud Motocross Track near Buchanon MI his home Town .. R.I.P. Doug
A friend of mine from Red Bud. I don’t care what they are doing now Doug had just as much talent the the top wheelie guys today or more. He will always be the godfather and innovator of the Wheelie
I had the pleasure of seeing him do a lap around a motocross track laid out in Anaheim stadium - really difficult, and made Lombard street look like a cake walk.
THE KING.
Watched him wheelie the whole LA Supercross track back when they rode up and jumped down the grandstands.
In 1986, I was at Army AIT at the Presidio of San Franciso; I rode my 86 Ninja 600 up "The Worlds most Crooked Street", Lombard St. I was on two wheels though. Doug was great as I had the good fortune to see him at a Supercross event at the LA Coliseum and his extraordinary skills. RIP Doug, Wheelie King Domokos...
My brother had an XJ750, the weird looking early one with the yellow fog lamp under the headlight, he could pull monster wheelies on it :-)
Just started restoring an 87 FZR1000, Yamahas build quality back then was terrible.
I vividly remember when Doug did this.
Bike life Brazil !!!
he dumped it after he landed off the car...they cut it right where he looped
When the world was a better place
That’s for sure 👍
Hey, do you which TV channel produced this? I'm looking to use it as part of a project.
N.Z. had for many years produce a number winning Australia Castrol 6 hour n superbike riders that had competed with the best on the world stage.
Holy shit that was classic
Thanks for putting this footage up. Brilliant
Some great old footage there, great narration!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Domokos

+obglobgablob nobody cared.
+matrixx29 I vaguely remember that 83 or 84. Was that the year the track went up into the seats?

o pouquinho que aprendi a empinar motos, foi selado com a dica do DOMOKOS numa revista que li em 1981, quando eu tinha 16 anos, de que o segredo era o freio traseiro... grande DOUG DOMOKOS... the best forever...
was he greek?
Domokos is a tipical Hungarian name. Hungarian version of Dominic. He must have had Hungarian ancestors.
Such antics today would be shown with distorted power chords in the background
I had the pleasure of meeting this fellow at Lake Sugar Tree MX track in Axton Va in the late 70's he was a stand up fellow never to busy to talk to anyone he loved his audience and the moto-X community loved him! R.I.P Doug!
RIP
There had to be a ramp on the back of that car.
Fuck yea doug!!!!! fuck all those bitches that get in your way!!!!!!!!!!

motopilot0919 i only saw kx. But i deffinally saw 250

THIS GUY INVENTED STUNTING lol what a mad fella
When the front whel spins it has more of a gyroscopic effect. It makes it easier to steer basically.
The two cars that move in the way are obviously staged. Seriously, people.
It was part of the show , i don't think anyone thought this was unintentional
That's weird that he ran a motor on his front wheel to keep it spinning all the time. Cool video.
Wow he dented the shit out of that roof of that last car.
yea but what do expect everything was cheesy like this in the 80s :)
sweet
Inspired me when I was a kid...would love to see him on the Z13 like in his book !... he was simply "THE BEST !"
