1989-93 12 Valve Cummins Diesel Starts Then Dies In Subzero Weather
Просмотров 19410 месяцев назад
The fix for a Cummins that starts and runs but then dies and won’t restart unless the injection lines are loosened and bled out. It’s not gelled fuel as much as it is a weak lift pump. The one on the truck is an elcheapo Amazon lift pump just to get me by for the rest of the winter as I needed one next day. Will see how long this one lasts and will plan to have a spare on the truck.

Do you still have the 1981 gtv 16?
Love that Oliver
Hi! How does it go with your MF 7 diesel?
first bench ive ever seen worse than mine
nice bench
test
I use the VG 23 with the larger crank diameter 1 1/8 inch not 1 inch, the HP I am going for will cause the 1 inch to flex and rod bearing issues I am using the optional long conn rods to increase the rod ratio and decrease piston wall sideload, Pistons are no longer directional install with this rod length. They are from ARC RACING I am using high flow heads (1700 usd) and gas ported high comp racing pistons from carrier vanguard performance in canada I am using the dynocam 275 (do not use the 308, it provides LESS power <5000 rpm if you have a muffler versus open pipes). I am using 1.5 ratio rockers from performance machine and design, the towers that hold the roller up are for the stock head and are 0.2 inches too short for the carrier head. But 12 inches of 7/16 keystock, drill holes in them, cut 4 of them to 0.654 inches long and that will make the rollers have a perfect 0.202 mid lift for the roller rocker. Cold valve lash is 0.005 but hot lash will be 0.013 to 0.018, has to be checked when hot. 0.654 roller towers assume a hot lash of 0.01 for mid lift length of roller. I am running with no flywheel, sparks are fired by SPEEDUINO and provides EFI too, 12 volts is from a John Deere 20 amp DYNAMO (amazon 70 bucks) To use a flywheel to fire the plugs use one from ARC Racing, still no 12 volts though. My setup 66 lbs including the redrive but no prop, 45 hp at 5200 or 40 hp at 4300. Weight is 72 lbs if you use the aluminum flywheel instead is speeduino All weights are minus exhaust solution
There cant be any PERFORMANCE build with that stock cam. You cant even beef up the springs or the hollow cam will snap. @@vg23air none of the internals are stock on my engine aside from pistons and crankshaft. Billet rods and rocker arms, one piece steel pushrods, custom ground cam using a Briggs blank casting. Valve springs were upgraded along with shims for an increased spring rate.

Unbelievable. Such good quality, i have one but its been thru the wringer ,still works though haha
cool videos - I just subscribed
I have the same one 16 lawnmower with the 44in deck trying to put deck on with the top pully not on yet just trying to figure out how it goes back on need pics
What's a fair price for a 127 in great shape and in great running condition? Have the option to buy one but I think they are asking too much
If your married, not for long if your wife sees the 19 tractors you bought. 😂😂😂
The Highland Park Whine😄
What a beautiful car! Sure this car is older than me but I can tell there was a lot of love and purpose behind it.
I worked at Sears and sold hundreds of these tractors. All the ONAN engines are fun to see again. Have you ever seen the electric tractor Sears sold?
Love the Petty sticker on the side of the hood laying on the drive-way. What a collection to work on.
I have a Kohler V twin 725 cc. CV730 . it has hydraulic litters. I like that saves having to do valve adjustments. Mine is rated at 25 horsepower, dont have a clue how much torque it makes. I put it on a Murray 40 inch cut. (Had a Briggs 12.5 horsepower) don't know what happened, a blade stopped, the engine never even bogged. It broke the blade adapter, stripped the spindle shaft and ripped the drive pulley for the spindle in two. Fortunately I had the parts on hand to fix. I have to admit I like the power. The 12.5 felt under powered.
that engine sounds like it has a miss
It does, could hear it from the start. Look at the exhaust shake later in the vid.
How much is a song and a dance
No way that exhaust is coast guard legal
Who fucking cares?
Is one of the hydros for sale I sure would be interested
My best friend got one of these new to mow and plow and disc when we were 13 or so. Had trails going cross country from pond to pond down fence rows through the woods to camp and fish. The good ol days.
What do the landlords think of your latest acquisition? Beyond that, good to see the Volt and Voyager are still in action!
Good lord they keep multiplying! 😂
Wow! Where can I get one?
This is the one and only. Rarely does it ever come out to see sunlight aside for a few times a year from what I’ve gathered.
I was the person out of the Bradley factory. I worked in the Test Dept. All of these tractors stood the test of time and are still great tractors.Sincerely, Richard Goodman
It’s great to find people such as yourself to gather information from. Every time I go down to Illinois to pick up another batch of tractors, I usually try to meet up with a former employee and learn as much as I can about Sears/Roper as a company and the processes
@@71_sears97 I stayed with Roper (AYP) until 1994. I designed the test base in Savannah, GA and ran it for about 3 years. Then designed the new test base in Orangeburg, SC and ran it until 1994. Anything I can help with , let me know. Richard Goodman
Yes! I have got one of these and have not been able to figure out what year mine is. This is the only other JCPenny like mine I have found.
Great collection! I love the three old Sears tractors that I have.
How could anyone not love these old Sears garden tractors?!! I love the three that I have. The oldest is a 69 Suburban 12 that my dad bought brand new.
Any new updates on the tractor. Im thinking of doing this to my massey 7 also .
I have to try to get myself one these kind of boats with inboard/outboard motor boats I see these on Facebook marketplace or kijiji going good price for 800 needs little fixing or some parts have changed ,replace or one for 5000 for one barely ever use thats pretty good for boat with close to 150 hp or little over 250 hp plus with ford or chevy motor v8 or inline 6 cylinder engines won't be that hard to do little modification tweaking and tuning for extra horsepower or alot more power or getting hold of gm LS motor or big block v8 460 it would endless as what you could do with this one these great boat and video btw
I have a 33 yo vanguard on my bcs tractor. The only thing I have had to do was clean out the carb. Starts 1st or 2nd pull every time
great job
That is a great find! An amazing haul.
I've got the same tractor and it usually starts within one or two seconds even on super cold days. Maybe try replacing your fuel lines and fuel filter and check if your glow plugs are working correctly.
Beautiful, I owned one and loved it!
nice job.
Perfect tractor for a diesel!
Cool project. An ATV battery, would fit in the space you have.
Love the sound of a 12 valve!
About 8-10 or so.. years ago, I had the same tractor and installed the same engine into her. The diesel engine actually fitted nicely with the hood modified. I had a Few videos about it on my channel.
Thank you. I thought it was a nice fit. My whole goal with building these tractors is to not modify the sheet metal at all to give it the factory original appearance.
What did you do for the transmission hump? I know on the 2 to 4wd they are different sizes. I’m looking to swap mine to manual but my transmission hump is the smaller one
Truck sounds great!
Love the order seats tractors!!!❤ I have had a few. 68 Custom 8, Custom 10XL and a 67 Custom 6 ive fully restored over the years. Now I've cashed them in for a 1972 Case 446 now fully restored and updated with a properly installed Briggs Vanguard V twin 23hp. The wrong or not particularity correct method is to buy the installation kit for these engines to do this swap. Unfortunate you lose your manual PTO clutch set-up and they replace them with a electric PTO clutch. Then when using the almost $1500 dollar kit not including the engine itself, the hoods dont properly fit, so they give you a spacer to elevate the front of the hood. I chose the correct manner in which to do this, and it cost me under $150 bucks in materials! And everything fits like it should and everything OEM, operates perfectly like it should from the factory including the amazingly well built hand fabricated 48" mower deck, which is my everyday lawnmower today now. Oh yes them Onan engines had definite issues with their ignition systems when they began messing around with electronic ignition under the flywheels. One of the main features of when they're failing is, they run a little while until they get warm and then you'll lose spark until it cools down again. Theres a aftermarket kit i believe offered on Ebay now for these Onan's with the dual coil leads or the electronic ignition disasters....... 😊 Keep the old real machines running! Theyll never be made so well ever again let alone made in America 🇺🇸 for the most part. Unlike the fake braided plastic garbage they've been trying to ride coat tails on for decades now of great names! These original founders of these companies be spinning in their graves if they knew how badly their companies name and reputation is being dredged through the mud claiming to be the original parent companies! BS and BS! Box stores killed the American Dreamers Off !
Any of this work on the 18 hp vanguard?
I Love those old 🚜 tractors. I wish I could come across one!!!!
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
Great video 👍
Glad to see that you are uploading again! I'm exited to see the new videos this year.
