John Denver Perhaps Love - Live 1982 Apollo Theatre, London

"Perhaps love is like a resting place A shelter from the storm It exists to give you comfort It is there to keep you warm And in those times of trouble When you are most alone The memory of love will bring you home Perhaps love is like a window Perhaps an open door It invites you to come closer It wants to show you more And even if you lose yourself And don't know what to do The memory of love ...

"Open up your eyes and see the brand new day A clear blue sky and brighty shining sun Open up your ears and hear the breezes say Everything that's cold and gray is gone. Open up your hands and feel the rain come on down Taste the wind and smell the flowers' sweet perfume. Open up your hearts and let the light shine in The earth has been reborn and life goes on. Do you care what's happening arou...

‘This song is one of the best I have written. Not like one of those songs I had nothing to do with.’ Strange remark.
I'm 73 and still playing guitar and singing. I used to sing a lot of John's songs, but now I cry too hard when I try to sing one, or even hear one 😢. Started happening when he died. What a voice!!
What a genius.
Don put his heart and soul Into version of this beautiful version of Vincent,,
This is for my father I love the most
So amazing!
I met him in the late 60s at a college concert when he was still with the Chad Mitchell trio. He was so nice to talk to, a genuine human being!
Hello Suzanne, my memory's of real love will be of you, You said i would miss you and my GOD i do. X
Perhaps love is like a resting place A shelter from the storm It exists to give you comfort It is there to keep you warm And in those times of trouble When you are most alone The memory of love will bring you home Perhaps love is like a window Perhaps an open door It invites you to come closer It wants to show you more And even if you lose yourself And don't know what to do The memory of love will see you through Oh, love to some is like a cloud To some as strong as steel For some a way of living For some a way to feel And some say love is holding on And some say letting go And some say love is everything And some say they don't know Perhaps love is like the ocean Full of conflict, full of pain Like a fire when it's cold outside Or thunder when it rains If I should live forever And all my dreams come true My memories of love will be of you And some say love is holding on And some say letting go And some say love is everything And some say they don't know Perhaps love is like the ocean Full of conflict, full of pain Like a fire when it's cold outside Or thunder when it rains If I should live forever And all my dreams come true My memories of love will be of you
JohnDenvers voice no matter what song has me either happy, or teary. This song perhaps love definitely the latter. God bless you John, where ever you are 🎉
Jacques Cousteau was our hero when we were kids and when John Denver wrote this song about Cousteau's ship "Calypso", I was so excited! I think the song was played in one of Cousteau's specials or am I remembering that wrong?

Had this played at my husband's funeral, we both always loved it, the enigma that is 'Love.'
My sisters sung this at my wedding 39 years ago. The funeral comment does not feel right..
still in love with John... still brings me tears to hear these songs
Priceless
I’ve always loved this song
Thank you John Denver you touched my heart again!
John Denver 1943 - 1997. Beautiful man and musician sorely missed.
I was here with my Beautiful Dad . God Bless You mate xx
I found John's music in college in the sixties. it gave solace, hope and comfort in a decade full of turbulence and uncertainty. My daughter was raised on his music, though it seems none of the love found its way into her heart or life. I treasure the times we sang so many of his songs while we drove many miles together. This song is really how i feel about my wife and the love we share. It's love that's kept us happily together for two decades now and we hope many more. Peace and love to all of you.
Everthing is Love 😊 I am very lucky to be your sweetheart😊
man it's not just the words that brings life to a song but the emotional energy that comes through/out of the singers heart .when it's sung like this it elevates it to a classic . the story how it came about ,for me really adds to it's poignancy .
Brilliantly executed song guitar work what a true tribute to the original George sang
A beautiful song, sang beautifly. My partner had this song played at his funeral 10 yrs ago.He loved John Denver

This was played at my husband's funeral. It was his favorite 😢
The country charm, humility and genius of John Denver all wrapped up in this presentation. Magic. Had the pleasure of meeting him in Aspen as we waited for the school bus to drop off the kids. Down to earth guy.
Hermosa canción sin tiempo ni espacio. Bella, bella.
Amazing
Love Nevers dies.....
John was such a gift to the world. He changed so many lives. He changed the world. Yes, he was a flawed human. He battled demons and he didn't always win. But the world was a better place with him in it.
After all these years, it still brings tears to my eyes
❤ touching.🙏✨🕊️
What a American loss
Al vin Gu zman love you Pam
Just rember this song is the song he wanted to get out there.. the song of hope
Love!
We played this at my beloved husband's funeral in May. We played it constantly. It was our favourite. Such simple words and melody. I miss my wonderful, funny, clever man. 😢
This is a perfect, beautifully written song. And he delivers it perfectly. There are great covers of it as well with a full orchestra that are amazing as well.
God bliss you sir, I grew up to your music and it never grows old. Poetry from God. Thank you.
