Obeying the orders of his late master, Voldo searched for Soul Edge and returned to the Money Pit with fragments of the evil sword. Voldo was deeply hurt to discover that the vertical shaft had been ransacked in his absence. He emitted an otherworldly wail of indescribable sadness and begged his late master for forgiveness. While inspecting the treasure, however, he discovered a new truth. The greedy thieves had taken the "false" Soul Edge he had obtained previously, along with the fragments of Soul Edge he had collected. The intruders were seeking Soul Edge, just like him. If he could track down these people and force them to tell him everything they knew about Soul Edge, it would surely make his search easier. Imagining his beloved master encouraging him and speaking to him with kind words, Voldo shivered with excitement. Of course, those thieves who had touched the treasure of his sacred master must die a fitting death. After preparing to leave the Money Pit, Voldo sensed the presence of a new intruder. He went out himself and disposed of the thief. Voldo then thought to himself in silence. If only he could obtain Soul Edge--the last treasure Master Vercci sought--he would be able to dedicate himself to protecting the Money Pit. But someday, he too would leave this world, just as his master had. He would need a successor to carry on his will and protect the treasure. Another guardian...Surely Master Vercci would approve of this idea. Feeling satisfied, Voldo thought over this idea while preparing for his journey. The guardian of the secret storehouse ascended from the dark abyss to the surface and began to wander the outside world in silence...

Soul Calibur 3's soundtrack is underrated. Even though this Lizardman's theme and I didn't really use Lizardman, I will admit; this theme is really well composed.

The official name for this song (as it HAS been released) is Pilgrims on a Long Journey, but I do prefer this name as it fits in better with the scenery (the graveyard just before the first boss fight.)

I watched a video on how the music for the game was created. One of the reasons why I think this was unreleased is that I think it was meant to be a boss theme (like Metal Gleamed in the Twilight.) All of the music was originally going to be only on the piano or violin before the devs realized just how intense the game was going to be.

It's funny the passage at 0:56 reminds me a soundtrack from the movie "The Mummy" ! Knowing that stage takes place in Egypt, it may be a tribute to the movie ! 😁

This game pretty much defined my freshman year of high school in terms of gaming. I remember literally spending hours just designing and building characters. Since I used a game shark, I had already basically unlocked all of the various bits and bubbles, which of course made making many of these characters all the easier. I had my favorites. For instance, I made a number of characters that were clearly centered around Japanese themes, and all that stuff. And there were others where the fighting styles just didn’t really seem to fit. But for the most part, I remember making characters and tweaking them until I felt that they were Just the way I wanted them. What’s ironic, though is up until Seoul caliber three I actually was never that big of a fan of this franchise. In fact, tournament style fighting games were never my bread and butter. Most of my video game choices centered around things like the medal of honor franchise, midnight club, and a couple of others to name a few. But I don’t know there was just something about this one particular game that really drew me in. And not only that but this game had some of the best music ever. I remember I would come home from school. Sit at my desk while I worked on my homework and I would turn on my PlayStation in the background and have the music player function for the game Playing and just repeating songs over and over and over again. It drove my sister nuts. But I love that. In fact, this video game is really what awakened my love of instrumental orchestral music. I remember going over to a friend’s house who had a much larger TV and he also had the game and he and I would just spend forever building characters and testing them out and just having fun. The unfortunate thing, though is nowadays, the majority of the armor pieces and stuff would probably be kept behind a paywall and stuff.

At times I felt my own resolve slipping when I had to fight these characters. Their backstories are so sad & endearing. Setsuka's painful past and sense of purpose, Sophitia just wanting to protect her children, even Yun Seong's struggle with bitterness and courage OH GOD 😭 This game is TOP TIER

They went hard on this one! You can really hear the twisted sense of honor and descent into madness

This is the kind of music I wish were in Total War: Warhammer. The Trilogy's music is good but could've improved with more adventurous songs like this one.
