LeSynth

Добавлен 11 окт 2019
LeSynth has been in love with synthesizers since the late 80s. He learned synthesis on an Aries analog modular system, spliced 30 feet of magnetic tape to make a cool loop, and learned sampling on an Akai S900.
Over the span of a few decades, he has composed thousands of cues for film and tv, dozens of electroacoustic pieces for concerts and radio, as well as hundreds of electronic tracks for the web.
LeSynth is passionate about synthesizers: vintage, hybrid, modular, virtual. His studio has been and continues to be home to many electronic instruments, some with incredible history, others with an unforgettable character. He loves the variety of design, sliders and knobs, the endless possibilities that this instrument offers, and he finds tremendous joy at coming up with fresh synth sounds, new textures and combinations.

Your video is a really masterpiece, thank you so much and best greetings from Vienna!
Thanks for your warm compliment! Vienna knows music…
This is a surprising number of bugs, engineering glitches and limitations for a $2,000+ unit.

Wooooooow. Ok u o inspired me!!
Brilliant vid done in a brilliant clear style.
Thanks for the kind words!
Grand merci pour cette vidéo si didactique ainsi que bien présentée ! Ça m'a donnée bcp d'autres perspectives 🙏🌈🎶
Bien heureux d’apprendre ça!
do they make a mega freak with 88 keys? and a pitch bend/vibrato in the left hand so we can shred solos on it.
I think a bunch of us are waiting for a big Freak! As for pitchbend, you can have fun with the touchstrips in the MiniFreak.
🧙🏻♂ Getting both is greedy. For an effective dance setup, get just one & then add a groovebox or sampler.
♥♥♥
Great video, thanks!
Well I ordered one earlier today to get here in about a week. I guess I'll just rabidly watch videos until it gets here! It's harder than waiting for Christmas morning at 4 years old
Hahaha! Well worth the wait, my friend!
You balance teaching with visual illustration with musical talent in perfect harmony. Subscribed!
thanks uncle
The best video I have watched in a while and I binge watch tons of stuff here, being new to music crafting
Thanks so much and happy new year!
@lesynthlofi You too! Made the first track of 2025 already and published it here on RUclips. May not be much, but I enjoyed the process. Your video makes me want to purchase that MicroFreak, even if I know fully well I will not be able to play it in years to make sounds like those on the video
Amazing ❤
Amazing tutorial. Do you know if the new models come with updated firmware? Many thanks.
It’s always best to compare what the screen shows when you turn it on, and what is on Arturia’s website. In my experience, I’ve often had to update firmware on new synth purchases. It’s worth it (!) and you learn how to use the super helpful software librarian.
Great video! Love it that you tell a story, in words and images. Do not love it that now I am AGAIN lusting for a Perkons...
Haha
Exceptional detail, thank you!
Actually the very low preset volume level for a lot of the sounds is disapointing for me, ok its a matter of just going into the menu and adjusting the sound, but as soon as you change to another preset sound, the volume for the first sound resets to the low sound volume, so you have to do the reset every time you want to audition preset sounds. Its a very odd choice to impliment this feature and i have owned many synths and keyboards over the years and not one of them has had this.
Unfortunately, I have seen this in other synths over the years, particularly but not only in software. The manufacturers should always do due diligence and make sure that the presets are even in terms of loudness. Sadly, some don’t it would seem.
Amazing video. I came looking for someone actually showing what this thing is capable of in the right hands. It's confirmed... I must purchase for my first synth to pair with my Push 2. Thank you.
First synth? Great move! And don’t forget to save up for another one… 😎
You got some great Tour De France style sweep sounds going on, definitely need to start utilising this wee Freak more. Great video 👍
I LOVE Kraftwerk! Thanks for the kind words and glad that I might get you to play more!
I've been meaning to watch this for months. Great tutorial. Has me excited to experiment more with the microfreak.
I absolutely hate the keyboard but otherwise it's really an incredible synth. I like the idea of the PCB keys but they're too small and they're really hard to play. It's limiting for me. I still use it and I'm still learning so I appreciate the tutorials.
Ok, if you had to pick just one, which would it be and why? TY
I would pick one and then, months later, I would sell it and buy the other!
Pretty darn good quick side by side. Let me ask you, if you were on a deserted island for 10 years and could only have one. Which would it be?
Great inspiring video. Thank you sir. Subscribed 🎉
Can I sync the Microfreak to a Behringer RD-6 drum machine? I assume I can, right? Thanks for this video, I plan on getting a Microfreak soon!! Just subscribed, too!
Thanks for subscribing! I don’t have the RD-6, but you should be able to do this by sending the Sync Out of the RD-6 to the Clock Input of the MicroFreak.
Thanks very much for all these amazing tips. You have made me fall in love with my Microfreak again. Looking forward to your future content.
Wow!! Very detailed video..... in fact, quite over my head 😳 Found it interesting, but very confusing.... sorry!! Maybe because I'm not very technologically wired 😵💫 But I do enjoy messing around with this machine......... Anyway, the question I'd have is > If I upgrade the firmware and get all these new features, do I loose all the old / original presets?
As far as I know, you won’t lose your presets.
@@lesynthlofi thanks for your reply!! Ok, so can I presume any new presets that come with new firmware updates just get added to the firmware 1 list?
@Michaelvan-g3q if I remember correctly, each new updated presets show up in their own folder, but I can’t vouch for that 100%. I’m not in MicroFreak land these days as I’m deep into my new subject: Moog Labyrinth
@@lesynthlofi fair enough 😊 I'm grateful you took the time to reply. Thanks!! 🤘
i sold a lot of gear to finance two of them. i use the send to save the volume in the kits and route them all single into ableton. its my favourite drum machine ever. and i sold a pulsar, which i hated because of the alligator cables.
and my biggest con is that the kits and the pattern page have no different colours. i overwrote so many kits as failure. damned.
I am a guitarist and I'm getting a Microfreak today. This is a great starting point, thanks!
Excellent video, great quality tips and production! Really appreciate this. Peace.
Takes me back to 90's "Hard Copy" production.
Excellent video, thanks. Informative, artistic, technical, musical and classic. Need more images of those multi-colored garage doors :) Subbed.
Wow, thanks so much for your very kind words!! Yeah, those doors rock.
Truly Professional Tutorial. Subbed❤❤❤❤
Thanks!!
Excellent tips! Slightly off topic question: What are you using for an oscilloscope? I'm looking to pick one up and could use a recommendation.
Glad to be of help! I use the Korg NTS-2: www.korg.com/us/products/dj/nts_2/
My best advice: Get a Zoom G1X Four or similar cheap multieffect, and use the cycling envelope for fixed frequency modulation at audio rate
Wow, this is amazing. I got the MF last spring and honestly I was just kind of intimidated. I was very familiar with subtractive synthesis but found it hard to even wrap my head around the mod matrix of the MF. I’m getting back to it now though and loving it, and found your video so helpful. Great editing too!
So glad my little video could help you - enjoy the ride!
The production values on this review are superb. Proper cinematography moments. NIcely done.
Awesome! Thank You!
Love the approach to this video and would also like to tease you about your very extra video transitions 😁
1:15 that Italo Disco preset is still my absolute favorite on the MiniFreak, lost hours to it.
Thank you!
Ha, you had me fooled, really thought you were gonna say you weren't keeping it at the end. ;) Nice plot twist! Still wondering (for myself) years later if this will be the one that makes a big difference or will go unused and then sold like so many before. :) Really want to the new AlphaBase as well.
Hello Great vidéo edit. I haven’t read all the comments but il is possible to store spice & dice settings on to a new séquence but you have to work in arpegiator mode/patern. Read the huge manual :) Cheers
Great video! I learned a few things.
Love this channel - love everything you are doing and the clear explanations in your videos. Thank you
Absolutely phenomenal video. I can see you put so much love into making this. This is cram packed with gems. The editing is exceptional. Kudos brother!
Wow, thanks for the very kind words!!
what is that white thing above the microfreak called 🤔
The vocoder mic?
great vid
