Dear Reverend Vicki, thank you for this beautiful sermon about practicing gratitude not as a means to deny the troubles of this world, but to "make a way out of no way" through them. Now, I will say that as someone myself who voted for the campaign that you described as having "cruel and hateful" messaging, it is clear that we do not share the same political beliefs. However, I listened to several of your sermons years ago and was deeply touched by every one of them. I agree with your messages about God, and that is enough to make me to want to keep coming back to receive your inspiring words about Him. Thank you for acknowledging that there are people on both sides of the political aisle who feel deeply misunderstood, and also, for sharing your realization in your story about Scout (🥹) that the vast majority of people have good hearts and good intentions. I think we currently live in a climate where people of all beliefs have been conditioned by their respective media platforms (and/or other major influences) to truly assume the worst of people who think differently from them. And if we continue to attribute evil motives to our brothers and sisters instead of trying to understand where they might be coming from, I think we are living in contradiction to what Jesus would want us to do. I fully agree with you that most people's spirits are full of goodness, compassion, and love. I would thus even suggest that most people's visions for the world come from that shared place of love, too, even if those visions differ sometimes drastically. Thank you for the work you do to bring people together under God in a way that acknowledges politics while also offering a way to transcend the division they create. I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving, and that you will have a wonderful Christmas season to come.😊

Very nice service as always. I don't have a car and in the Amherst area people without cars are not allowed to go to church because the first bus on Sundays does not start until 11:00. So, it is great that your service is also online and all week. Thank you. Cathy Etheridge, from Not Bread Alone

Hello, my name is Carla Vornheder. I sometimes do a crazy thing. I have made a list of 63 towns throughout the US that are about the same size as the one I have lived in for most of my life, Mountain Home, Arkansas. I listened this morning to a service of your church. I will robably go to my church and Sunday School at Eastside Baptist later this morning. I have some disagreement with the way things are done at my church. It's sometimes good to listen to other churches. I don't work. They say I am disabled. I think If I lived in another country, I, or my family, would not get the help I get in the USA. I won't bore you with too much chatter. As I watched your service, I noted things that I wanted to answer. I'm always amazed when my church stands up and starts talking about where they will go to lunch. I spend most of my life alone, streaming various things. When I hear a speaker, I often want to be part of a conversation. I think people learn better when they can get their own thoughts out of the way. I just sort of wonder if Avon offers anything that will make me glow like the disciples. lol A long time ago, I had a time when for a few weeks, as I stood up in the front with the choir, I was very happy. A number of people were talking about it. Over time, I started having to artificially try to manufacture that joy. I could not do it. We all have mountaintop experiences like that. Now, 20 some years later, I think that the glow is a product of trying my honest best to spending time every morning with God, and then living through my days as though they are the rest of the obedience conversation with God. I put off obedience for years. I need, I guess we all need to look at our lives and ask God and ourselves what is keeping us from glowing. Just a thought.
