Upgrading the Fluval 88g CO2 Kit
In this video I show you the best way to upgrade your fluval CO2 kit. This will save money, reduce CO2 fluctuations, and increase usability rate. By doing this you swap canister/tanks less, reduces costs dramatically, and lesser fluctuations from low PSI.
Needed for this is the obvious;
-Fluval 88g CO2 Kit (Contains all needed items for about 2-4 weeks) (70$)
-Empire 24oz.CO2 tank (22$)
-Paintball to CO2 Adaptor CGA320 (16$)
----------------------------------------------
Suggested items
-Drop Checker (and 4dkH solution) ~10-16$
-Glass CO2 Diffuser
Anything else? Comment, rate, subscribe, complain, argue... Bring it!
Look forward to the upcoming Video Blog, and updates on each tank!

Modifying Powerheads

Hey all! This is my video of modifying my powerhead to make it fry, and shrimp safe. It also allows you to not run a filter by providing Mechanical and Biological filtration. If using in a fish only you may be interested in using Carbon as well, and I dont see any reason to not run large pieces around the bottom of the sponge. Can I screw the regulator directly to a sodastream cylinder?
I have a question and for this smaller set of fluval 45g what adapter ???????
Wow nice fish tank with so many plants.
Nice tank. first i thought it was a cat tank but its a fish tank lol.
So really powerheads are just submersible pumps?
When you put that pipe tape on the thread I just wanted to let you know that you taped it backwards you should type in the opposite direction around the threads so that that way whenever you tighten it into whatever it’s going into the clockwise travel doesn’t unseat the tape in your threads
Can't find any of the parts you used there. I'm shopping online for them. Also wondering if that pressure guage is the right specs for such a large tank? I'm getting the 95g fluval co2 kit and want to pimp it out with a new cylinder etc.
It’s superb… is it available in Amazone? Do you have any links?
do you know if this will work with the new 45g kit?
the problem is that connector don't exist more, I am struggling to find in UK :( please someone know where I can find, or some alternative to Hydra one? Please what is the specification/size of the male / fluval system?
where did you get those co2 tanks nice vid
Let's see your tats, 😃 great idea!! Thank u
So its okay even though some roots break?
I just shoved the whole thing in the substrate before I found this video. Now I have a lot of babies I could spread out!
I just bought the Fluval kit that you have I thought it came with a bigger tank than actually does so I'm going to order the adapter where did you find those tanks I can't find those on Amazon
I do apologize, Amazon does have a rotating stock of items available to them based on supply. You can simply look for any CO2 canister. (Make sure you have the matching adapter, you will also need to fill the tank,I used a local paintball shop)
Yeah I found some tanks that particular one they're out of stock on they don't come filled though do they
I screwed up everything and the psi meter still 0. Please help
Would this work with the fluval 45g versión or ares they difference sizes ?
Jesse M I apologize for not being up to date. I believe the smaller kit had a different nozzle attachment.
How do you clean the sand once it’s carpeted
Copasetik_ 3 you take it out and wash is away and add new sand
This guy is wrong you use a gravel vacuum they sell them at most pet stores
Thank you!
Where did you buy the dwarf hair grass
Ebay
Both Petsmart and Petco sell it.
Did you put a solonoid on this reg?
What size nut is on the output for fish hose I want to put a solonoid on my 45g kit
Do I need to touch the nut thats attached to the tank? Not the regulator
I would be careful not to have too much pressure on those cheap regulators. If it was beyond the gauge - then that is probably too much pressure.
how many lbs (pounds) is a 24 oz? I see some tanks dont have oz and have some something like 2lbs or 5lbs instead
16 oz are in a lb. So 24 is 1.5 lb. 16 oz is the common 2nd smallest size.
@@kasperskyy7631 Ah wow, thanks. My conversions were totally wrong. That helps alot. Thank you!
Kasper Skyy, please PIN this post to your OP so everyone can see it......this way people will know what to look for !!! For everyone looking for an adapter for a Fluval disposable / paintball cylinder swap or reverse swap, you need to look for this: EDIT: I don't own a Fluval disposable system but one of my friend was asking me so I dod a bit of research for him and this is what I managed to find...if anyone buys this adapter for their Fluval kit, please leave a comment to confirm it's working. For using the the Fluval regulator that comes in the kit with the 88g disposable bottles, look for the WRCO2-320 adapter like this one: 1 - www.ebay.com/itm/Paintball-Tank-to-Co2-Disposable-Mini-Tank-Adapter-WRCO2-320/231401469369?epid=12011373607&hash=item35e09a35b9:g:FjkAAOSwpDdVQRvK:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true 2 - www.ebay.com/itm/WRCO2-320-Adapter-Converts-Paintball-Tank-to-CO2-Disposable-Mini-Cartridge/173606384132?epid=12011373607&hash=item286bbf3204:g:mkwAAOSwV0RXte5J:rk:6:pf:0 For using your paintball regulator with disposable 88g bottles, look for the WRCO2-320R adapter like this one: www.ebay.com/itm/Adapter-converts-Prefilled-Disposable-CO2-Cartridge-To-CO2-Paint-Ball-WRCO2-320R/231516932998?hash=item35e77c0b86:g:HwYAAOSwPgxVQRu1:rk:5:pf:1&frcectupt=true Kasper Skyy, you should also change your description from CGA320 to WRCO2-320 !!!
You rolled the tape in the wrong direction
Do power-heads gives oxygen or gives better oxygen?
Where can I find the adapter for the fluval
Anyone know if this trick works on the 95g? hehe
wayne… this trick does not work on the 95g coz I tried it.....have you found an adapter to fit the 95g ?...I want a larger co2 tank too, so I will have to get a different regulator coz this adaptor wont fit the fluval 95g regulator
@@fredriclacarbonara9420 I'm using this same setup with a 24oz. Still works fine for a 75 gallon so far.
Is there a solenoid for the fluval 88g ?
How long does the paintball tank last and how many bubbles per second?
I stopped using this on my tank after a few months and decided to go without forced CO2. Generally when starting less bubbles is best. I wouldnt surpass 1 b/s on a tank that hasnt gotten CO2 yet. I would trust a tank for atleast 2 weeks. CO2 is really cheap and inexpensive at paintball stores.
Thanks right now I have a 5 gallon shrimp tank with dwarf hair grass this will help if I want to add some to another tank
Hi, know anywhere i can buy one of this adapter for my fluval 88g co2?
Here's a $100 paintball co2 setup guide costy.cc/posts/may-25-2018-amazon-budget-co2-injection-build
Is the fluval and ista regulator the same? They have the same look and would the cga320 hydra adaptor fit the ista regulator?
Glad I found this video. Just received the adapter and fluval 88 co2 system from amazon and bought a tank from Dicks sporting goods. Refilling this tank should be cheaper then replacing the fluval cartridges and the larger size should make it last longer in between. Thanks
that isn't shrimp safe
We did everything you did but as soon as we twist the piece onto the paintball tank it punctures and leaks everywhere.. like a lot. It was empty in 20 seconds.
I'm honestly not that well versed on the subject of adapters and fittings, and cannot be of much help. Did you ensure your regulator was closed? (Tight clockwise)
Hey I think this idea is genius and would love to give it a try except i bought the 45g kit will that still work like yours? And you can keep getting that tank filled right? I’m very interested in doing this please help me!!!!!
I will not confirm nor deny whether or not the 45g kit will work properly with the items I purchased, but with enough research you should be able to find a suitable mated tank. The tank I purchased can be easily filled at a PaintBall shop, or anywhere that sells CO2. I like the larger tank for the fact that it can last much longer, and provides a more even pressure into the regulator. (What I would do in your scenario, go to a fish store that stocks the Kits, and compare the two. Any fish store should be more than willing to allow you to open the box and see if the fitment is similar. You could check the regulator, or the tank size/thread.) Best of luck to you! Remember, adding this into your system be aware of the possibilities, and start very slowly. A bubble every couple of seconds wont be enough to stress your fish, but instantly adding 5bps (Bubble per second) could very easily shock your fish/shrimp, and possibly kill them in shock. If you have any additional questions please feel free. I generally do not reply instantly, but I seem to reply to everyone within 3-5 days.
Would you be able to email me, I live in the middle of nowhere and my lfs doesn’t even carry anything related to co2 lol, I have the kit and all but my problem is no paintball stores around either
you get the 45 to work with a paintball tank yet?
Nice video, thanks for sharing. New Subscriber # 63. Feel free to check us out sometime
Useful video, thanks! I need another filter asap and as it's near xmas I have a tiny budget right now, powerheads are cheaper and I have tons of filter sponge bits so this is perfect :)
Kasper, can't understand why there haven't been more comments. This was a good upgrade of a powerhead & sponge. Good job!
so was this too much pressure for the fluval regulator to handle
Seemed to work fine while I was using it. It never broke, just went another route.
Everywhere I look these adaptors are on back order. Anybody help me out?
This is NOT a CGA320 adapter, this is a custom adapter specifically made for fluval 88g. If you buy a cga320 adapter online it will not fit fluval 88g regulator.
Alex Foster you are right I have a CGA320 and it won't fit the fluval 88g but it fits my paintball tank. do you know what the correct adapter is?
Apparently hydra-aquatics is the only one that sells the necessary fluval 88g <--> paintball adapter, despite it being mislabeled as a cga320. Go with them
Alex Foster and every site I go to they are sold out or stopped carrying them
Yeah I got it from here but it seems to be out of stock unfortunately www.bulkreefsupply.com/co2-cylinder-adapter-hydra-aquatics.html
www.ebay.com/itm/WRCO2-320-16-In-CO2-Paintball-G1-2-14-Tank-to-Out-Co2-M16x1-5-Mini-Tank-Adapter-/362014603537#shpCntId This will work but don't forget to use some teflon tape on the threadings so that the co2 doesn't start leaking through let out hole behind the pressure gauge.
What substrate is this?
Looks like fluval
$15 for an adapter? "Not too bad" Are you fucking insane??? They make that shit in China for less than $0.50 and sell it for 2000% profit. Imagine paying $50 for a McDonalds burger same thing here
Great plant-attaching demo! Thanks for sharing!
