    I love this review and love the feedback you’re getting on it. I absolutely understand why you didn’t include reliability however important it may be to others. Reliability goes up and down. With time we will see that particular metric express itself. The rubric is genius and a fantastic idea along with the graphics showing the criteria. I’m really hoping charging stations like this start putting level 2 charging areas in place for others that are interested in sleeping/resting, not in a hurry or PLUG-IN Hybrids so that they don’t need to interfere with rapid EV charging stations. Maybe have a different video for those kind of places if they ever come into existence in significant numbers. Maybe it could become part of the current rubric to bring the current scores down a bit and give up and coming locations another thing to add. They really seem to be thinking of everything as you are. Viewers like me just want channels like this and companies like this to succeed and not all of us want a Tesla supercharger for every stop. I enjoy my Tesla and enjoy the Tesla reliability but it’s really nice to have a little TLC experience when charging. Thanks for the great channel 😁👍😁🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    Thank you for sharing these charging site reviews. Really appreciate it!!! One small error to note, the Mercedes Benz chargers should provide 400kw when not power sharing. At least that’s true for the temple, TX location.

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews
      @EVChargingSiteReviews 27 дней назад

      Correct! For scoring I give them more chargers but less points for charge power because someone could Theoretically be getting less power than requested. I had to make a decision and that’s what I’m going with for now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    Nice to know that Ionna has a decent set up in Apex. Just to note, since tesla is not part of this operation it is not a tesla plug that Ionna is using - Officially it is using the J3400 standard - The Ionna site will not be able to charge any tesla vehicle made before 2021 and some 2022's since since they lack the hardware to communicate with J3400 even though the plug fits, with out a hardware retrofit on the charge port controller. NACS is just a common name used and it does not have any official meaning. I plan to visit the Apex site in three weeks while traveling to NC. I plan to bring my Silverado down to a low SOC and observe its performance. It should be interesting.

  • @junehanzawa5165
    @junehanzawa5165 29 дней назад

    There's one massive, and I mean MASSIVE, score that you're not including which is a "Charger Reliabilty" score. None of this does any good if the chargers are down often, or derated, or take a long time to be repaired. Not sure how familiar you are with chargers and their hardware, but most of the ones EA uses (ABB, Delta, Signet), or the ones EVgo uses, or ChargePoint chargers, are notorious for the poor reliabilty. As are most of the smaller, lowered power chargers used by individual locations. Alpitronics, Kempower and Tesla's chargers are regarded as the most reliable in the business by far with a strong history to prove it. You have to include this score if this channel is to get any traction. After all, if half the chargers (or all) are down or derated, then the rest of the scores are pretty much pointless, aren't they?

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews
      @EVChargingSiteReviews 29 дней назад

      These videos have long shelf life. So it doesn’t make sense to include that as it changes over time. In the description of the videos I state this. I do encourage viewers in the same message to include their experiences because of the volatility of charger reliability. I also include the Plugshare link so people can get a read on the reliability. I appreciate your concern, but I thought long and hard about this before I began reviewing. Hope my rationale makes sense, I want these videos to be relevant for as long as possible!

    • @junehanzawa5165
      @junehanzawa5165 29 дней назад

      @EVChargingSiteReviews So why not have at least a charger reliabilty score? For example, superchargers have a 99.96% reliability score. Perhaps you should ask your viewers how they feel about it.

    • @bikeaddictbp
      @bikeaddictbp 29 дней назад

      This site literally opened today. How do you score reliability with no historical data? Positive factors: supposedly the Alpitronic chargers have a good record in Europe. Most problems are phone app + payment problems, and this doesn't rely on a phone app. Ionna has indicated a positive attitude and an awareness that reliability is crucial, but whether they live up to that will only become apparent with time.

    • @junehanzawa5165
      @junehanzawa5165 29 дней назад

      @bikeaddictbp You use the historical data of the chargers and track record of the charger manufacturer. They have a long history in Europe. These are not new chargers from a new manufacturer. Alpitronics and these models have a strong history of reliability already. That's what you base it on. We're not discussing apps or anything else. It's simple, do the chargers have a strong history of reliabilty or not.

  • @junehanzawa5165
    @junehanzawa5165 29 дней назад

    Good video. One correction: this site has a 2500 KVA fully dedicated to it and has 12 ports in all. All chagers/stalls are fully dedicated with 400kW per charger/stall. It just happens to be balanced so that if one EV requires/asks for 250kW and the other 150kW, they'll both get full power. Only on very rare instances when 2 EV's plug in at the same time on the same charger/stall and each with very low SoC and fully preconditioned so that each can take over 250kW or over 300kW at the time, will you experience a limitation of 200kW each. Balancing happens on every charging site, even Supercharger sites where they're "site balanced." So you're not going to get full power on the very rare instance when 12 EV's with low SoC all plug in at the same time on a 12 stall site. That almost never happens.

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews
      @EVChargingSiteReviews 29 дней назад

      This site only has 10 plugs, not 12. There is room for expansion. I double checked to confirm. As for everything else you said, yup! I try to keep these videos simple and for new EV drivers. The only vehicles that would see “major” decrease in charge rate on low SOC would be Lucid, Hummer, New Taycan, Cybertruck, Silverado, and Sierra Denali. EGMP would have such a minimal impact. Like you said eventually it wouldn’t matter as they ramp down! Thanks for your comment!

    • @junehanzawa5165
      @junehanzawa5165 29 дней назад

      @EVChargingSiteReviews Correct. I typed too quickly. It has 10 ports, not 12. But even keeping it simple, new EV drivers would get the idea that this site has limited power when it has more power than just about any other site out there. Even when you see four 350kW chargers at an EA site, 2 of them share power. It might be that #1 shares with 2 and 3 with 4, or 1 with 3 and 2 with 4, etc. that are sharing, but they are sharing. They are NOT dedicated with the full 350kW each. If you happen to plug in 2 high charging, 800V EV's with low SoC on the 2 that are shared, you're not going to get full power.

  • @anthonyc8499

    How do you get a score of 66 from the rubric?

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews
      @EVChargingSiteReviews 5 месяцев назад

      The base score is 65 and then it can lose or gain from that. So it netted out to be +1 point for this site. I just changed the rubric to the 2.0 version where the sites only gain points based on what they have. Only one review has the new rubric!

  • @omelborpon3159

    Appreciated, although modeled after News Coulomb. Suggest a revisit of point allocations. EG: giving a site -2 for having two stalls; having any number of stalls should gain points, not lose them. Rather than distance from highway, rate on how much time or how difficult it is to get to the site (a straight shot with not traffic lights, no left turns across traffic can be a mile from the highway and be easily accessible). Having even only one food option should be positive points. Throw out the entertainment rating, let your kid play Minecraft on his tablet. Throw out shopping, as charging speed should be fast enough that you don't have time to shop. There should be a rating on idle fees; idle fees are good because they keep people from using the charging area as a parking space. Make some changes, and you will have a much-used page if you keep it up. Good luck.

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews
      @EVChargingSiteReviews 7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your thoughts! Some valid points that I will definitely use when I update the rubric. I don’t agree with any number of stalls should earn points because the fewer the stalls the worse the throughput and the increased likelihood of a queue. They also start with a base score unlike Eric’s rating system. I do want to note this was not modeled after his system as I didn’t even know he reviewed sites until I was about 6 months into this. I have been leaning towards getting rid of entertainment for sure One food option is not good enough as many people (like me) have dietary restrictions, so just Dennys isn’t going to cut it. I like changing distance from highway to time from highway! My only worry about idle fees is that they may change over time and these videos have to have a long shelf life. I really appreciate your feedback. One question, do you not like the psychological effect of taking away points? I can understand that perspective. I want to keep it out of 100 points, but could reformat to where it gains pin to up to 100. Thanks again!

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews
      @EVChargingSiteReviews 7 месяцев назад

      I state in the video that currently the most a Tesla can do on the network is 250kW since that’s how Tesla designed. So I’m giving them the points. Given the nature I am assuming they will eventually upgrade them all to 1000v, so for longevity I’m giving it to them as well. I totally understand where you are coming from and I had to really think about it when I scored my first V3 site.

  • @realev21
    @realev21 10 месяцев назад

    I have only hit this location when deliberately evaluating chargers. It has some of the most fickle chargers changing availability almost daily. Driving south charger 1 is broken and I watch three cars pull in and it does not work, and then on the return trip a day later, charger 1 works but charger 3 is broken for all of the cars I watch pull in. There are nice spots for obvious queuing if the chargers are full. If you are driving south and can make it to Richmond, there are more chargers there for greater chance of getting an empty one. Richmond should expand to the area on the left of the transformer and have 20 total chargers, but that would make too much sense.

    • @EVChargingSiteReviews

      Thanks for sharing! I’ll have to hit some stations in Kansas next time I’m passing through!

      You're welcome, and please do review more KS charging sites in your future travels. I love watching your charging site reviews no matter where they are. I know they don't get a ton of views yet, but they are appreciated. I'm also a faithful subscribed to this and your main RUclips channel. I hope you'll continue to keep this channel going as well?@@EVChargingSiteReviews

    Like the concept. I live in Wichita KS and make trips to KC on I-35 1-2 per month and on up to DesMoines then over to Cedar Rapids 1-2 times per year. I would more than happy to film the charging stations along the drive to these destinations. If you could let me know what filming and information you would need. I can document the sites and send the video and documentation your direction for film editing and the voice over.

    Interesting attempt to quantify the judgements, and an interesting subject of use to the burgeoning number of EV drivers. Very best of luck.

    Very nice technique for rating the score. Since you’re in Owen I assume you’ll get out to the EA site in Fredrick. Like the visual “drive in perspective” to help locate the site. Sub #49, will continue to watch.

    Well done. Question: Is the gas station 24/7 or closes when store closes? Does station have its own rest room? That might help the safety and convenience aspect. Otherwise looks like a better planned stop during the day to early evening

      Hello! The Gas pumps are 24/7. The station does have a bathroom and earned 0 points since they are only available during business hours, which is a huge bummer. I’ve rarely charged here and been able to use the bathroom! Definitely a day stop for sure!

    This was a convenient stop for me earlier this summer on a trip from Northern VA to Philly. I stopped for lunch on the way up at the Chipotle and on the way home I crossed the street and got a Starbucks. It was not the best walking around the parking lot and across the street to either location. America is really, really, made for lazy people to drive their cars everywhere. I have a Bolt so I didn't know it charged so slow for everyone else, but for me the site worked well enough.

      Thanks for sharing! Great comment! I totally agree that most locations in US aren't pedestrian friendly. These chargers are perfect for your Bolt since it maxes out at 55kWs! Thanks for watching and contributing, I really appreciate it!

    Don't know exactly how you might incorporate this into your score, but with kiddo I'm looking for sites that have food or other amenities available without needing to cross a busy street or drive. Checking this site out on street view, it's a lot better than some but I still don't know how comfortable it would be to try and get to the Qdoba, for instance. Still, I like the concept for these videos.

      Yeah, totally get it. I will definitely be adjusting things over time. My general rule is within eye sight, but sometimes that could still be far away. Hopefully charging will become more prevalent and closer to amenities!
