We're a thriving, rapidly-growing community located in Mecklenburg County in south-central Virginia near the North Carolina state line halfway between the state capitals of Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC (80 miles each). It is also about halfway between the Atlantic Ocean (on the east) and the Blue Ridge Mountains (on the west). Since its beginning as a railroad town in 1889, South Hill has continued to be known for its ideal location. Today, the Town is easily accessible by a highway network consisting of Interstate 85, U.S. Route 58, U.S. Route 1, and Highway 47.

It's interesting that South Hill's population is almost 50% African American yet, only one member of the Town Council is African American.

It still feels like the town plows through the citizens’ intentions. These are the same people praying at a government meeting(not respecting separation of church and state) , dont have any idea why the economy grows, and this Dean Martin gets off on power vs serving the citizens it seems. Reeks of corruption. How does this happen? Embarrassing

Pomp Boys will continue to try to silence me, but I promise, there's nothing they can do to stop me from shedding light on their practices. $1,000,000 lawsuits are not the result of "Rumors" and "Aspersions". Just last week, the Halifax County Sheriffs Department froze several of their assets in Roanoke Rapids, and have impounded several vehicles on their lot as a result of it! I'm the guy from Roanoke Rapids that came to speak on behalf of my community. I hope that Pomp Boys never gets to open in South Hill and do to that place what we had to deal with here!

I'm from South Hill.. ummmm.. I worked, lived, and went to school there all my life. WHERE ARE THE BLACKS AT?!!.. If you are prejudice and biased.. than yes.. move there, but if you want to be around many other races and ethnicities and introduce your children to culture and society.. .. you may not want to move to this "hick town". FUTHERMORE.. MYYYY ancestors sharecropped and worked on that damn railroad track, working and working,.. for only .30 cents a day. Why isn't that mentioned? This is a bunch of white- collar lies and good marketing.
It's actually half and half when it comes with white and black people, but ok.
South Hill population is mainly white but Blacks are the second most populas ethnicity in the town.
One thing I found misleading was at 4:11 - The Tobacco heritage Trail footage shows someone jogging across a footbridge in the private community of Beaver Creek. That area is not part of the Tobacco Heritage Trail, and it is not for public use.
