Thank you so very much for compiling this informative video and all the photographs! We didn't move here until 1985, but I remember well many of these places. My daughter went to Coppenbarger for 1st grade, quite a drive away from our house. I loved, and do miss Swartz Restaurant ... and all the bowling alleys!! Many other places too. The architecture of many buildings, incldg. schools were quite beautiful back then, I wonder why many newer businesses are building big square box-style? (I'm thinking about the newer Kreckles buildings for instance)

Very nice video! My daughter's pen pal in 5th grade(?) was from Dennis School. She attended Durfee at that time. I thought it was a cool aspect that encouraged children to communicate with others their age across town.

What a thoroughly enjoyable presentation! I love reading/hearing about local histories. When we moved to Decatur IL back in 1985 (from Terre Haute and Vincennes Indiana) I wanted to find out as much as possible about Lincoln living here. I was surprised at how many locals didn't seem to know about our 16th President making Macon County his home! A few years ago I started working on my family tree, and spent months reading local histories of the area they moved into as pioneers that broke the earth, and planted crops and built homes from the many trees that covered the land. I've used plat maps extensively, and found that last story fascinating, where they evened out the curves in the Sangamon River! So, the history of a home (If Walls Could Talk tv show) and history of a road and/or a town ... is right up my alley! Thank you for all your effort in making this video!
