John Deere's Harvesting Winter Barley
Early on the car following the milk wagon is not a Wolsey or a Riley, it’s a Rover P4., the Ford garage was Norburys originally.
THis is brilliant. Like the others commenting i grew up in NOrton from 1971 to 1990. From memory the people on the bypass was a sponsored walk that we did just before it opened. Keep up the good nostalgic work.
The Great Dorset Steam Fair is relegated to the past, long may this event to continue.
What a trip!
Great turnout of vehicles and lovely countryside. And well filmed Robbie Great👍
Brilliant…something different great road run. Fabulous engines.
See in the photo your grandfather has one of those leather cartridge case straps over his shoulder, the men that served on the big howitzer guns wore them. I have photo of my grandfather with one on. May be your grandfather was on the guns first.
Great video! So much in it. We were still having milk collected in churns hear in cornwall back in 1970. I was only eight then, cows had to be milked early and churns out on the stand so you didn’t miss the lorry! Everyone had what looked like a sack trolly to move churns around the yard, you can still see some of the old churn stands at end of farm lanes today. Great footage of flying Scotsman 👌
Struggling up the hills? Lower gear needed?
Would have gone up better but the owner was after seeing how it performed it top.
What a treat!! Even in the wet, two majestic fowlers. Magic!! Fowlers just have that look that they mean business💪
Well that was just magic Robbie! I bet you enjoyed the trip. Lovely countryside you went through too! Must admit burrell’s are the rolls Royce of engines, but I do like me fowlers!🙂 Great video👍
Was a good day out with grand scenery.
It’s a Burrell for me!
Fowlers are big & talkers are small.
Pretty interesting engine, thanks for sharing mate. Have a good day
I’m afraid we have to admit an 8 year old boy will always be better than use with this tec stuff!🤣 Yes Robbie let’s see more of the tractor restoration, we all learn from each other in the vintage world👍
I have a few bits of getting the lights working & plan to an rings and sleeve video however I’ve just recently bought another that needs minor work 🫣
Wow!! This is amazing 🤩
We are following this work from Syria. This is the International B450 tractor with a powerful engine and excellent British manufacture. I have this same tractor and we hope to add more videos from time to time. Are there basic maintenance parts and where are they?
I tend to use a chap called John who goes as repair and maintenance but don’t think he has a website. However there’s this website www.tractorparts.co.uk/B450 That might post outside the uk maybe. Looking forward to seeing your videos.
@@Ro33ie19 Do you have a maintenance and repair manual for the engine, gearbox and everything? I need more details about the repair method. If there is a file, send it to me please.
Love it! I was a great fan of bypass construction projects in my youth, around the time of this home movie; and seeing Malton before the bypass brought back memories of clogged streets full of traffic, entirely normal for places such as Kington on the way into Wales, bypassed around 1977. It is wonderful that recordings such as this exist, and generous of you to post for the benefit of those of us who like to be reminded of our social history. Thank you for sharing this
I find very interesting seeing certain old videos especially ones that are local was fair capped when I first saw this as I was certain it was the bypass being done there’s a few other clips I can’t just recognise that other locals can spot straight away which helps.
Thanks for posting this. As a little lad in Malton I watched it being constructed. I used to walk beside a lovely little stream off Rainbow Lane. I sat there as a Dowsetts grader ran through it and the stream was no more. That act of vandalism has stayed with me to this day. I’d have been about 8 then, 55 now but still remember it. Malton was a ghost town in the 70s the bypass ruined it for years… Do you have any footage of the 1970s pram faces….?
Ive never known Malton with out a bypass & have never really thought much about what was there before, sounds like there was some nice scenery. When you look at the link to the Ryedale page it sounds like it took some time get it passed through the motions so there must have been some opposition to it. Yes i do have some footage of the pram race along with other bits of Malton from that era see link below. ruclips.net/video/Vf0pCV3ZcKg/видео.html

I remember this being built, I was working at the Talbot at the time as a chef split shifts so i had all the afternoons free so plenty of time to fill walking up there to watch ,, along time ago now , ,we just take it for granted now , thanks for the film ,, it brings back good memories,, thanks.
Great to hear it must have been fair project to witness at the time, i also have another video of Malton of various clips through out the years that you might be interested in. You may have some extra information to add. ruclips.net/video/Vf0pCV3ZcKg/видео.html
Another great video Robert keep em coming
The milk churns were collected at the end of the farm lanes the carrier was cooks of kirkbymoorside
The chap in Taylor's woodyard could be Jonny race but not clear enough to be sure
Memories the chap with cows at the railway crossing I think could be tom corney he had a little place on park road not sure where he grazed the cows
Thanks for adding more insight to footage.
Outstanding mate. I have just came across this vid and can not tell you how refreshing it is to see the young lads working on the farm. 👌🏿 I was brought up on my grandas farm in the bagging silage days 😳 Before the game changed with the wrapping 😂 You have a subscriber for life 👍🏿
Much appreciated as a few other comments ive had disagree with young ones on tractors but i agree with yourself of start them young and make them aware. Ive never heard of bagging silage so i will have to look that up. Thanks for the subscribe it is much appreciated.
@@Ro33ie19 Completely agree, you are building them for life and giving them priceless life lessons 👌🏿 Haha bagging silage 😳🥲 Big black plastic silage bag. One person either side of the bale. Shimmy, the bag around the bale until on. Stack bale and my Granda would be on those bails tie ing every single one air tight. His hands 🙌we’re in it’s after 👍🏿
I wonder if it is really true that you can manage completely without making Hay and just grasing and letting diffrent acres rest during the year.. Does that really work and is financially doable?
Fantastic! Is there any working shows nearer to north wales?
It sure how north your wanting but Shrewsbury is gd working on. Shrewsbury Steam Rally 2023 ruclips.net/video/9MdbkGF7Rf0/видео.html
This is great Robbie! More footage of these engines. There are a pair of these engines in the east anglia rural museum and this pair are the privately owned ones I assume. The one with fuel problem is right hand engine, not sure if the other one is the left. Think there are two stand alone engine as well. But they are rare to see for sure. Great video!👍
Sadly i left my camera on the IH stand & my phone went flat on the saturday when they got the bad one start and run on its own power it sounded like an amazing dum beat that kept perfect timing, i tried to recreate it editing the video bit 3.24 & 3.26 and looping it over & over a few times but just couldn't get it to sound right. if you've got a good imagination you might be able hear it just off them short few seconds.
Sound like you were not having much luck that day😀. Suppose we are lucky we still got working engines around, they were right at the end of the cable ploughing ere. They are on casterton vintage video, but not driving sets at the time unfortunately. They sure are something a bit different👍
Excellent kept the neighbours entertained, which county?
North Yorkshire
Nice match for the ploughing SHAME ABOUT YOUNG KIDS BEING ON TRACTORS
Another great video 👍🏻 Farmall BMD chat was a nice touch
Interesting chap is Alistair you too would get on well.
Thanks for the Video! That was much fun to watch! Greetings from Germany
Great to hear, you would recognise the Lanz bulldog?
TractorLadys😍
Can’t beat a bird in a check shirt.
Love the orange Standard Fordson start attempt. They're teasers, but they'll start when ready on thier terms, not yours! 😂😂 Mines the same.
That description matches perfectly from what I’ve seen of them.
Great video as usual mate! Some real interesting tractors at that rally. Chap nearly lost a foot under the tracks, but these things do happen! 🤣 I liked the two tractors that looked like traction engines belted to thrashing setts, can you remind me what there called!?🤔
They're Walsh-Clarke tractors.
@@09amusement thanks! I can look them up now👍
@@Dave.w-ev9qn1962 No problem. Should be spelled Walsh-Clark. They were made in Guiseley, England. There's not many left in Preservation.
ruclips.net/video/yNUGx8muF9k/видео.htmlsi=fvgXcHqRRuPiX_6a Think I heard “ a few of them snapped in halve”
@@Ro33ie19 cracked in half did they! John Fowler must of used thicker plate on his😀 Interesting video Robbie! Thanks for sending the link, They sure don’t burn much tvo in a day, do they!!👍
Really enjoyed that, thank you.
Was any particular Bit your favourite?
@@Ro33ie19 All good, but when you talk to the owner and here the story about it makes it a lot more interesting.
What a beautiful old machine!. Sadly the video is ruined by that truly awful music☹
I’d of preferred more engine noise for the video but a lot was lost to sound of busy traffic. Personally i like the heavy iron maiden sound thought it was fitting , but i am open to suggestions?
Naughty naughty stealing water tut tut
Drivable even in zombie apocalipse🤘
What a fantastic sight. These old machines are a testament of reliability. Long may they last.👍😄❤
With a younger audience taking up the hobby it is looking very likely.
Just magic! Great to see engines out roading it. And long may they be allowed to do it.👍
Excellent videos Robbie.
Glad you like them!
The Engine was originally supplied to the ministry of munitions 1917 one of a No of 10NHP engines, the accident happened in 1919 resulting in the engine being returned to John Fowler where it was rebuilt as a Showmans engine.
Great to see such a fine machine still at work and working well.😃👍👍💛
Birdlip was named after the accident it had on Birdlip Hill.
Do you have anymore information on this story would be interesting to hear it please?
Spot-on on the ball
Did you see D Cummings?
The coop corner was known as cowclap corner by us kids that walked to school from scagg
Your getting the issues sorted now with plough and tractors, that plough will do tidy job! Be great to repeat that old photo, look forward to that Robbie👍
Next Job to tackle I think will be overhauling the engine to get it to runs as nice as the Farmall does.
