zajebiste!
I'm about to play this piece for State Solos & Ensemble, wish me luck
best recording of this on youtube by far
You killed it on this one man! I listened to your video as a reference in preparing for my senior recital, and it helps a good bit!
I want to learn this for my state's solo and ensemble competition but don't have access to a large enough marimba.
sans faute
Such a good performance! I love the enthusiasm with which you played this. This was one of the first marimba solos that I ever heard, and your performance of this made me fall in love with four-mallet immediately. Great job!
Can somebody suggest a sticking for measure 36?
fantastic.
whats the main permatation in the melody
it looks like 1 2 3 4 2 4 3 2
Playing this as an 8th grader so hard
Im a senior in high school, and I am really hoping that I can be able to learn this for my solo!! Great performance!!
Good control
fantastic recording and performance. extremely enjoyable. Thank you!
Where can I get the Resta Jay Jean Geoffroy mallets in the U.S.? They don't ship here atleast from the website
What kind of mallets did you use for this pice?
lovely.
I'm playing this solo for my audition and i was wondering the mallet model that you are using. If anybody knows please tell me.
BlueEplosion They look like Resta Jay mallets, Jean Geoffroy's signatures, (blue colour, medium-soft). I use them myself.
cool, thanks :)
simon zakrisson yes you are right, those are the mallets indeed
I wish all marimba solos were recorded this well. Excellent audio, stunning cinematography, and of course incredible playing. Great choice of mallets for this piece.
Aweosome job. Anyway you can tell me what mallets you use. I've been looking for a pair like those but never knew the name
Resta Jay, Jean Geoffroy signature. Hope that helps.
The fun part is at 1:55
Amazing!!! I've been trying to learn this forever, how do you play t so beautifully??
In terms of sound and recording quality, this version if Ilijas is one of the best I have heard on RUclips! Not to mention a departure from the typical static camera placement which is so typical of marimba video recordings.... Did you use the 60D's native microphone? Now where could I possibly critique the performance? Stunning. Stellar job. But if I may....just...one..really just one....piece of advice....it almost seemed as if you were listening to a metronome. Sure i heard great tempo dynamics overall, but in the sections that really counted, especially in the beginning and end sections, it almost sounded as if you weren't quite feeling the emotion of the piece. However, this is one of my favorite solo pieces of all time [one that i only wish i had the ability to perform], so I have a somewhat bias for perfection. Still an incredible performance!
woooaaahhh, maybe just a little fast on the tempo there. That being said, you nailed every single note and every single dynamic. Props where props are due. I just would have liked to see some more emotion invested in the piece in terms of tempo. Some parts are supposed to be fast, but some parts are supposed to be slower so we can really feel what [I at least feel] Paul is trying to say... Again tho, absolutely nailed the technical aspects. However, in my opinion, this is definitely one of the best recordings of Virginia Tate on RUclips.
The beginning could have been more rubato in my opinion but I like his interpretation it's more "busy" you could say
That temple is PERFECT! <3
Awesome, wonderful musicality and technique
yaaawwwwnnnn
Good job! I truly enjoyed watching this.
WONDERFUL!!!!
Bravo Konstantinos! Truly wonderful. Sorry it took me so long to hear this. It is so nice to hear it played with such vigor, at a professional level, and with all the right notes! What a pleasure. Thank you. Paul Smadbeck
can't deny anything the master says!
Paul Smadbeck, holy-cow it's you! I am going to pay even more attention to the above rendition, for honing this great piece of music I am working on, knowing that you endorse it.
Very beautiful piece and beautifully played
i love it..nice
What mallets are you using ?? I'll Appreciate your answer as soon as possible !! Your interpretation of Ilijas its outstanding, amazing, Hope To play it like that soon !!
ivan trevino mallets, sorry for the comment 2 years late
One of the best marimba recordings on youtube.
This sounds really nice. Any mallet suggestions? or just mallet type suggestions?
how did you record and change frames? Also with the light to dark transition? What mic are you using? outstanding performance!
very well played! like it!
I played this back in high school and I love it but I always took it slower than this, however this sounds amazing. Makes me want to play it again. You're awesome. :)
I'm very impressed with your performances. I have been searching for a marimba for over 5 years. I'm curious about your choice for a Bergerault. What ultimately led you to that over a Malletech, Marimba One or anything else out these. I'm having Doug DeMorrow build a marimba for me but I'm not sure that after two years waiting I can wait much longer. I'd appreicate your comments and would like to share other information that could assist me further. Ray
Thank You so much man. Really helps.
is this a hard piece to learn?
Hi Jonathan, thanks for asking, I used Resta mallets, Jean-Geoffroy model BLUE, they are a bit heavier that usual but really give you this deep sound and presence
Can i ask. What mallets did u use for this? Im performing this solo for my uil solo.
transitions between phrases are seamless. bravo!
Which mallets did you use?
c'mon man, support the artist, and this piece is definetly worth all 12 dollars! I'm playing this for my solo and ensemble as well!
dude, 12 bucks - is free, I hope your next question wont be "where can I get a marimba for free.."
check the video description for the link to sheet music
Absolutely Stunning... I plan on playing this for my solo this year and I hope to someday play it as well as you. What kind mallets are you using?
Hey great job! Love the video quality. Very crisp, clear sound. My only advice is to take the slow section (with the five-lets) slower! That section would be much more emotional and beautiful (not that it isn't already). Love the work!
Stunning performance. Now I'm excited to learn this piece!
