I’m in no way a specialist so people more knowledgeable feel free to correct me, but I feel that Indian and Middle Eastern styles are two different things (and then there are multiples musical currents and traditions within the Middle East and within India). Although obviously music and more generally culture travel so you’ll find elements reminiscent or influenced by others in any culture, I feel Shanti, Shanti, Shanti is really straight on Indian rather than Middle Eastern - certainly thematically that’s the case

The pioneers had such a huge impact on not only music but entertainment media as well.

Trivia: Rurouni Kenshin, the original anime had a lot of good J Rock songs as opening/ending themes. Junjou na Kanjou (Siam Shade, taken care by Kobametal), 4th Avenue Cafe (L'arc en ciel), Tactic (Yellow Monkey)... The best unofficial song for Rurouni Kenshin for me was *Juppon Gatana* by Animetal, the anime metal cover band famous in the 90s. Seikima II (inspired Kobametal), Animetal, L'arc en ciel were all part of the Visual Kei movement started by Loudness, X Japan & other rock/metal pioneers in Japan.

This is a nice video. I've been a fan of theirs for 15 years and saw them live, many of what u said is true, they're very experimental and do new things. The individual personalities really helped not only from a music standpoint, like you'll still hear fans talking about how kind and nice Kai is for making food for the band members nearly 10+ years ago, or Uruha never being able escape the "alien made the pyramids" comment he made in 2013. 💀

Watching this after Reita's departure from this world hits hard, they were the band that introduced me to vkei, I loved metalcore, nu metal and deathcore for years already but I fell for The Gazette, even though I slowly started to listen to other vkei bands they are still my one and only favorite, their music is deep, aggressive and at the same time beautiful and heartbreaking, the balance between all of them shows and you can see how much they love music, I will forever miss and yearn for Reita and for the band to be complete, no words can express his absence, still I'm thankful they want to keep their promise to Reita, that The Gazette will live forever, I hope more people finds them and falls in love, I can't believe that when they came to CDMX I was about to find out about them 3 months later.

Mikio Fujioka is what made BabyMetal blow up in the US-the smile on his face during the intro of Catch Me if You Can YT video. And he had already left to play with Holdsworth by the time most people had seen it.

Whenever Akatsuki has been peformed these last four years, Chris and CJ didn't deliver that two guitar solo out in the spotlight as Mikio and Takeyoshi would have done. While nailing the solo without any flaws, they were kept in the shadows, hidden under masks like they were wild animals or worse. The Western Kamis with their reliable performance were instrumental in keeping the act together during difficult times, but somehow do not get the recognition they deserve. A great injustice is done to them. Has the Fox God not taught us to shout "Justice", forever? [Road To Resistance] So here's my demand: #FreeTheKamis Let us see their faces again.
