The problem with Isshinryu is that it's fu of Isshinryu people. Meaning people who were taught a way to do things and have perpetuated that same way of doing things with no evolution or progression. Isshinryu itself is a very good system. But, how it's taught and practiced is terrible.

I started under Master Shimabuku, Tatsue in 1970, under the Tutelage of William Duessel, 10th Dan & Charles Wallace, 9th Dan, as well as Master Shimabuku, Kichero for 45 years. I have been in Isshinryu for 50 Years this upcoming year. I fought on the Kumite Circuit since before Pads were required in the original MMA in Pittsburgh Pa. In the 1970's & 80's.
