Here's a quick video of the hunt where I managed to harvest a mature doe. Luck was on my side as my arrow clipped a branch, but placed it perfectly behind the deer's shoulder. Here's an effective shrimp fly I came up with while in college. It's fooled many redfish, trout, and snook over the years. The 2020 season is finally here, and trail camera data was showing some does working into this spot right before sun-down. Hunting there on opening day, nothing showed. Great job it’s nice to see another fellow Connecticut bowhunter be successful on film. I’ve tried harvesting a buck on film and it’s difficult to say the least operating. The camera by yourself is much harder than it looks so respect. Congratulations.
Appreciate it! Self-filming isn’t easy, especially when there’s a mature buck in shooting range, but definitely rewarding to be able to go back and relive the hunt. Good luck this season!

Great job used to live in ct miss hunting and fishing there some of my best memories are still in the state
Thank you! I love living here, I actually caught a bunch of bluefish before sitting in the stand this hunt, not many places you can fish and then shoot a deer a few hours later

Hell Yeah! I've been out 4 times and two of them saw deer, just no shots presented themselves. Still early in the season, but that's a great way to start it off, congrats.

Thank you! This was private land. My plan was to hunt state land, but this buck changed that plan.
You can use screw in steps and bow hangers on state land. A Deep captain confirmed this. It's like tapping maple trees.
I hunt in Guilford, CT and had 3 does under my stand on Thursday. Could not get a shot off due to the fact they were on my back side. The season is early and I have time on my side..... Great job and Thank you for the videos!

I gave up regular fishing for flyfishing. Got tired of wind knots ruining my day so I put fly line on my large spinning reel and paired my reel with my 7 ft medium action rod. Works great. Nice thing is when I hook into a fish I simply reel it in

Sick video! Been hammering stripers near farfield but haven’t had luck targeting any other species. Any tips?
Thanks! I’d say just try to find the sand, I know that’s where you’ll likely find the sea robin, and wherever there’s sea robin, there will typically be fluke nearby. Definitely recommend using at least intermediate sinking line as well. But sometimes it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. Tight lines.

@@FelixMerm-rf9hr Hammering stripers is a great “problem” to have imo man, I’m a refined expert in getting skunked whenever I target them in CT 😂
If you have waders or don’t mind getting wet then I’d recommend short beach or the autobahn society bird sanctuary on the other side. Quite a hike but some dudes I know hammer fat stripers on the fly constantly on outgoing tide over there
I’ll have to check that out, I’ve heard of some big fish being caught down that way.

This was north of the Skyway Bridge, but most of the flats around the skyway hold fish and are pretty accessible.
