Building Soil with Clovers
Planting clovers to build soil. After planting brassicas two years in a row we are now in the process of building organic matter. This is a combination of Nitro Clover and Don Lucky in the spring. But we also added 2lbs of TOP UP last fall with our brassicas. #foodplot #clover #deer #hunting

newly established food plots we recommend spraying twice. Once after spring green up and two weeks prior to planting. Getting control of the weeds the first time around makes it easier down the road for future plots. #foodplots #deer #whitetaildeer #wildlife #clover

Hunting Property Day With My Daughter
What a Man! Respect Bro
Clethodim is grass selective what is it gonna do to ferns? Also no reason to mow clover that isn’t being over taken by annual broadleaf plants
Ferns, we just cut out. There's a section where grasses are coming in, so we were going to spray cleth, but we got it under control with some haircuts allowing the clover to come in thicker and out grow the problematic plants.
is that the black boar
@danpoli5149 no this one is the impact impliments cultivator
Sucking video
I’m curious, why are you choosing not to grow brassicas for a couple years? Should brassicas be avoided for soil building?
@Novum-su9ie to prevent disease and pest problems in your soil. Also, depleting soil fertility can become an issue of planting a high nitrogen user. Hope that helps
@@northwestwhitetailseed Ok, that's good to know. Thanks dude! I'm also looking to learn more about soil health. Do you have any recommendations for books or channels that you found useful?
Whitetailobssessionoutdoors is great. Researching cover crops helps alot too. Were working a soil building blend if you are located in canada.@Novum-su9ie
@@northwestwhitetailseed Nah I’m in America, but thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate the info you’ve shared!
@@Novum-su9ie no problem
start by learning how to spell preparation
😂 just noticed
If you have not pre limed that in the spring it is not going to grow very good
@troybrake5686 property is too remote for lime but if I could I would have. That's why we used humic acid and will be planting cereal grains and annual clovers. Then in june we will plant our soil builder blend into the standing grains and roll it over. Slowly build the soil.
@@northwestwhitetailseed that's unfortunate you can't lime it! I'm not sure anything but weeds will thrive with a low pH, maybe look into doing native grasses that will grow good in natural soil, I know clover likes a fairly high pH and rye should grow just not thrive! Good luck I hope it pans out for you buddy! 🤞
@troybrake5686 the fun times of food plotting haha. Up for the challenge. Takes a little bit more effort but will get it. The soil sample 5.4ph so not horrible. Have u been planting your plots yet?
@@northwestwhitetailseed yeah I been hitting it hard, I have 3 small plots about an acre total! I been getting them crimped and sprayed, I also put some more lime and fertilize down, just waiting on rain to get my brassicas in! There is a lot of ups and downs with food plots that's for sure, my first one was in the woods and I worked through the night for a lot of hours clearing, raking and hand digging just to watch it come up beautiful and then a week later it was dust, lol! That was a learning experience I will never forget, it actually made me never think I would never do another one! But we sold our horse and now I can plant in the field so I'm back after it! I got 2500 lb per acre lime down now and plenty of sunshine so I have a lot higher hopes this year and I also planned ahead for a full yr and didn't just try and slap a last minute throw and grow out without any soil prep! I don't have real high expectations for the brassica this year but my winter wheat I'm planting in September should get me lined out to start rotating every yr!
@@troybrake5686niceeeee hopefully u get rain!!! We're in a drought over here
Have you had any accuracy problems with some of the screws coming loose? I read somewhere that was a problem with these because of maybe the plastic construction.
@pinkyellowblue007 no I haven't had any issues with the bow. It's been fantastic. I usually check over my screws like any routine maintenance of crossbows but never had any loose. I highly recommend the upgrades though, brings the bow to another level. Can't beat the lightweight and compact.
What do you spray with?
Glyphosate or herbicidal soap
I liked and subbed, hope it helps
Screw the dear you wanta clear my bike trail 😂
