Hats off to Kurtz who is producing an incredibly large amount of learning material to anybody who wants to dive into morse learning and practice. Earlier this year, Kurtz provided me with very valuable advice that motivated me in my learning journey and I am still practicing daily in order to achieve fluency. Currently practicing at 22wpm starting from scratch one year ago, I owe my progress to Kurtz. Many thanks to him. I cannot recommend enough this video from Kurtz : ruclips.net/video/5BlhhBK1CBw/видео.html It is very informative and it tells everything one should know about morse code learning. I watch it regularly in order to keep motivated, my reference.

Good afternoon, could you please tell me what the very loud buzzer tone is for? Can't figure out a pattern. There is one around 44:15-44:19 and another at about 44:31 but there were others before. I really appreciate the effort you have put into these. A guy in my CWOps class brought them to my attention as I am fine with the sending but the copying is my Kryptonite, these are a great help. Thank for your work

I decided to relearn what I'd forgotten about morse, after qualifying over 30 years ago and not using it in some time. These videos are great and much appreciated. I still use some much remembered methods for listening, I always hear F as "Did it hurt you - di di dah di". The response is L "Of course it did - di dah di di". Others are more obvious such as V for victory - di di di dah and Q "Hear comes the queen - dah dah di dah". Do others have other ways of remembering the sounds

Hello Steve, I'm delighted you returned to improving your Morse Code proficiency. It can be a lot of fun! The method you are referring to is sometimes known as learning Morse code using sound-alikes. This approach can be effective at slower speeds, but it requires cognitive effort, which limits most people from head copying at higher speeds, such as 20, 25, or 30 words per minute. There are definitely other methods to consider. The preferred technique, and the one most people aspire to, is called Instant Character Recognition (ICR). Check out this link on the Morse Code Ninja website where you can read more in-depth about this method - morsecode.ninja#ConqueringICR . It is the most challenging skill to acquire. If you have learned Morse code using the sound-alike method, transitioning to Instant Character Recognition can be challenging. However, it often just requires practicing at a higher character speed, such as 25 or 30 words per minute, depending on how ingrained the previous method is for you. I wish you all the best on your Morse code journey. 73 de AD0WE dit dit

With these longer sentences I sometimes write with my finger to help with the words and not guess wrongly. Vary the speeds of 25 - 30 at different times in the day helps my brain. I think we all go through the same problems and practice overcomes those in time. .... if one has it :-) ...

Kurt, if you made an app that incorporated your channel, I would gladly pay. You could easily adjust WPM, number of times repeated, delay before word/letter is spoken, and have selections for different study groups. We'd be able to select Top X words or call signs, or which letters or groups of letters to work on. If you already have a program like that somewhere, let me know! Otherwise, thanks for the great videos - always play audio from these in my car.

Hello Maurice, I am delighted to hear that you find the Morse Code Ninja practice content helpful in achieving your Morse Code proficiency goals. I understand your request and think it is an excellent idea, one that I have considered for years before I began publishing courses and practice content on RUclips. The primary reason I did not pursue developing an app is due to the significant undertaking it requires. Developing an application for both iOS and Android is not a one-time investment; it necessitates ongoing updates to ensure compatibility and functionality across devices. In the Apple ecosystem, for instance, an app can be removed if it is not maintained. I wanted to create something that would endure beyond my involvement, and RUclips offers a cost-effective solution as it does not incur hosting fees once content is published. Over the years, I have also provided direct downloads and podcasts, which do involve hosting fees. I am very appreciative of those who donate to offset these costs, as it allows me to continue providing this content. If you are seeking customized practice beyond the 400+ unique practice sets available, you might consider using the Morse Code Ninja software that I have open-sourced - github.com/zoglmannk/Morse-Code-Ninja . This software allows you to render your own content and adjust the spacing as needed. It is highly flexible, and within the source code, you will find text files representing each practice set. Additionally, there are Perl scripts available that you can tweak to generate practice sets, even if you do not have a background in software development. While I support the idea of developing an app, unfortunately, I don't have the time to dedicate to such a project. You may find that some existing applications or web applications better suit your needs. I also have a full listing of resources on the Morse Code Ninja Resource page that you may want to review - morsecode.ninja/resources/index.html . I wish you all the best on your Morse code journey! 73 de AD0WE dit dit

Thanks, Mark! I am pleased to hear that you are enjoying the “Build a Word” Morse Code Ninja practice series. The complete series is currently available. To access it, please visit the Morse Code Ninja practice webpage ( morsecode.ninja/practice/index.html ) and select the “Build” filter. This will grant you access to all the unpublished RUclips videos in this series. To avoid overwhelming my RUclips subscribers, I release only one practice session per week. This is a rather extensive series so it will take a while to fully publish on RUclips. The “Build a Word” series comprises 17 practice sets. Additionally, there is a related practice series called “Build a Phrase,” which includes four additional practice sets. I wish you all the best on your Morse code journey. 73 de AD0WE dit dit

Good day to you too, Victor! I'm glad you like the new practice series. This is the first practice set in a series. Each practice set is incrementally more difficult by adding longer words and having you copy with 2, 3, 4, and 5 letters at a time. To avoid overwhelming subscribers to my channel, I release one new practice set each week. It will take many weeks to release the entire set. You are free to jump ahead if you want to. You can access them from the Morse Code Ninja Practice page ( morsecode.ninja/practice/index.html ) and then select the Build filter button. I wish you all the best on your Morse Code journey! 73 de AD0WE dit dit

That's fantastic! Enjoy learning to use a bug! Some people will hear the code, press pause, and then say the character themselves and try to send it, and then unpause and continue. It sounds like you are doing something similar with or without pausing the video. I wish you all the best on your Morse Code journey! 73 de AD0WE dit dit

73 de AD0WE dit dit

I think this channel is about the greatest for competently learning Morse Code in the best way possible; character and word recognition. I wish I had gone to his web page to find his free course from start to finish. The lessons are perfectly constructed and I found more resources than anyone could ever need. This gentleman is a Crusader in keeping Morse Code alive and “learnable” for all. Thank you indeed! I am 75 years old and relearning again, the proper way, instead of the counting dots and dashes as a 12 year old, while cycling all over the UK with my friend collecting QSL cards. Then forgetting most until this year. It keeps my mind active and learning and I’m extremely grateful to Kurt!

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. It has been a joy giving back to the amateur radio community and helping people learn Morse Code and improve their proficiency skills. It was my way of giving back for all the kind help that I received on my journey. It's hard to believe that there are now over 400 unique practice sets and I still have even more to release. I'm really excited to carve out some more time this fall to release a new series of stories at the beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert levels. My goal is for them to mirror the progression of reading material you'd encounter from grade school through high school. I created original stories not under copyright, and I'm introducing a novel "contextual priming" format, where each sentence is preceded by a spoken hint about the upcoming content, without reusing the same words. It was tricky to create, but I think it will really aid comprehension, especially of less common words in the advanced stories. (You can read more about it here, which also includes the download links. - morsecode.ninja/index.html#NinjaShortStories . It will take some time to upload them to RUclips and make them available as podcasts.) I'm delighted that you have enjoyed the code over many years! I wish you all the best on your Morse Code journey! Cheers! 73 de AD0WE dit dit

Thanks, Peter! I'm excited to see if this new series is helpful for those who are struggling to copy words. It will take many weeks to release the entire series. I only mark one set public weekly to avoid overwhelming subscribers to my RUclips channel. You are always welcome to preview the entire series.
