    My mom got that one the other day, and hers don’t have all those options. They are grayed out on the screen. She can’t select zigzag stitch etc. What could be the issue?

    • @franzzypants
      @franzzypants Год назад

      Is trying to use the sewing machine while the embroidery arm is on? She would need to remove it to sew. She also needs to check the needle plate, the silver plate under the presser foot where the needle goes down into. Are there three individual holes for the needle to go down into? If yes that is the "Straight Stitch" plate and it will not allow her to do any none straight stitches with it on. She needs to switch to the plate with the large horizontal opening.

      before you upload the designs on your memory stick plug it into the machine, go to settings , use the right arrow to scroll to page 2, then calibrate the stick (its the little USB icon). I usually click it 2 -3 times. then bring hte stick back to the computer and only upload one or two designs. make sure they are JEF file formats.

      Yes you can. Click on the "Settings" Icon (the wrench). Then click "Emroidery" (its the icon at the top with the little hoop next to the machine). Then use the arrows to scroll over to the threads page. They don't offer every brand/type but you can can pick different ones on that page.

    My Singer 301 can use Schmetz needles with no issues. They have a flat back on them. For the bobbin hook, take your throat plate off, when you put the throat plate back on, make sure the bobbin hook is in the little slot on the throat plate. It should not spin at all.

      you can probably get away with the regular stitch plate. I just HIGHLY recommend the single stitch plate from experience, the thread has a greater chance of bunching up with the zig zag plate

    • @franzzypants
      @franzzypants 2 года назад

      First, click on the "settings" button (the wrench) then scroll to the page with lightbulbs on it. Make sure they're all on so it lights up better. Second, make sure your embroidery module is not plugged into the machine. Also make sure you have the needle plate with the wide opening (not the one with 3 single holes). Sometimes the machine won't offer all options if certain feet or plates are installed. If you try that and still having issues, your machine may need an update. Google "Janome skyline s9 update" , make sure you're on the janome website and they will offer a download of the latest update. Save it to a flash drive, plug it into your sewing machine while it's off then turn the machine on. Should prompt you to download the update If that is sounding difficult i would recommend bringing to a local dealer

    Im curious as to why you didn't float your quilt on the hoop instead of hooping it?

    • @franzzypants
      @franzzypants 2 года назад

      Great question! 1. I didn’t want to have to deal with any type of backing for this project. I don’t really have anything right now that would make floating it easy for me so yes hooping can be annoying but it was my best option in the moment. 2. The sheer size of this quilt would have made floating difficult. Hooping gives the design area more support. I also used a much bigger hoop than design required for this reason
