Teagan Bok Kiteboarding

Hey! Teagan here. I'm a kiteboarder sharing my knowledge to help grow this amazing sport. I really hope you find some value here! :)
First ZIPLESS Kite Bag
In this video, I do a full walkthrough and overview of one of the first ZIPLESS kite bags on the market. Having zips on a kite bag can cause constant problems either by them corroding or by potentially catching your kite canopy in the zip itself.
This zipless kite bag obviously has NO ZIPS in it's design, and is a very slim, minimalistic and robust approach that addresses all of the above concerns.

Just had an issue, but quickly resolved it after realizing your images you have in description work for different video sizes. Need to use the vertical for RUclips shorts. Thanks!
100% ! Glad you got it sorted 💯
Thank you!
You're welcome! 😊
hi from USA
Sweet! Thanks for watching! 🙏😊
Awesome video. Thank you for clearing this up. I could not figure out why my videos looked so bad. Thanks!
You're welcome! Gals it was a help!
Hey, how much does the vest float when falling into the water with it? Is it like a life vest / jacket or less to none and only for crash protection? I can't find any information about this in vest descriptions.
Hey, thanks for the question! The vest is purely designed for crash protection not for flotation. It does help a tiny bit in terms of flotation but next to nothing in comparison to a life vest. Hope that helps!
Little Tip for future tutorials: People like knowing things quickly so maybe skip the intro, i mean if they clicked this video, they would except you to talk about the title, you dont have to say it again
Thanks 👍
But why mine doesn't work tho? Version 2.30😢
Hmm, that is odd. It should... Have you made sure that your camera is NOT in power saving mode?
@teagan_bok_kiteboarding oopsss sorry I just realized that I set video mode to extended battery instead of highest quality..🫣😅 now everything is good👍🏼
@teagan_bok_kiteboarding aha.. its bc i set video mode to extended battery instead of highest video😅
Ah nice! Glad you got it sorted! 🙌
Nice!
Thank you!
Nice design
100% ! Thanks mate!
So comfortable to use! Can't think of a better design.
Yeah, agreed 100% !
Love your work mate!
Thanks Dave!! 🙏
My Solution if this method still does not work So in the go pro device, go preferences, find HEVC you are displayed with 2 options, select H.264 + HEVC Then cable transfer a video to your PC direct from go pro device, (no wifi transfer or quik download) Once downloaded, open with Windows media player (ensure you have downloaded HEVC extension free version somewhere) Then open using windows media player...and that's the only way it works for me. Sadly I tried to download from Quik desktop app to PC and it reduced my 5k video to 720p That's my current experience with stupid fucking HEVC This solution seemed to work for me
Thanks for such a detailed comment and approach 🙏 The HEVC is pretty stupid if I'm completely honest. (Unless you're on Mac I guess) Cheers mate 😊
thx very helpfull
Awesome! You're welcome! 🙌
Thanks bro👌🏻
You're welcome! 🙌
Thank you for this perfect detailed explanations , well explained, clear and deep knowledge on kite lines, chicken loops and special features such as pigtails adjustment! Love Lacuna gears, #1 durable kite on the market !
Thanks guys! Much appreciated!
Love your work mate!
Thanks Dave! 🙏
Superhelpful man
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment! 🙏
Love Lacuna! 😊❤
Thanks mate!
thanks
You're welcome! 🙌
I feel Lacuna has lost their value proposition somewhat for the local market. A new 8m Omega plus a new bar is pretty much the same price as a 2024 8m Orbit plus a navigator pro bar. Having moved recently from Lacuna (granted it was the previous version) to North, I dont think they are really on the same level. Interested to see how the new Lacuna range compares to other brands like North given that pricing is not too far apart anymore. Perhaps a review of the new bar would be good to see? Thanks for the review!
Hey mate, thanks for the comment 😊 I was hesitant to touch on this too much and tried to rather allude to this in the video (to avoid bashing the older models) but with the new designers on board, the new V4 is a HUGE improvement on the older models (and the reason I was keen to partner with the brand). Honestly a '5-6 year equivalent' improvement in terms of build quality and performance. In my opinion, I'd say Lacuna has changed their value proposition, rather than lost their value proposition. I'd say their value proposition previously was 'cheaper gear at the expense of performance and quality' to make the sport more accessible to the average South African. Now with the new designers / owners on board, they are aiming to reposition the brand's value proposition more towards high performance, well thought out and well built gear putting them in the North ball-park (which obviously comes at an additional cost). This transition period will always be a bit of a tough position to be in as a brand and the only way to really convert people is through them giving the gear a try. It's very difficult to really portray this through a review video. If you ever get the chance, definitely give the V4 a try 😊 This is my opinion on Lacuna's situation as a brand but have asked one of the designers / owners to chip in here as well. (and correct me on anything here if need be) I am also working on the bar review video at the moment, so keep an eye out! 🧐 Cheers mate
Hi @RhinoRhinoGiraffe, thank you for your interest in Lacuna. Pricing and brand positioning are always a big topic, however we feel the current prices for Lacuna reflect a price that is very reasonable for equipment that will last you a long time in terms of both design and build. It is hard to compare past prices to the current ones, a lot has changed in brand since it was taken over by the new owners almost 2 years ago now. The last range under the previous owners - the V3 collection was ordered in 2020. If you combine 4 years of factory cost increases and the decline in the value of the Rand to the Dollar in that time there is no way the V4 product could be at the same level. Also you are comparing a discounted, last season product ('24 Orbit) to a current season product (V4 Omega), I think you will find the new season gear across all the major brands to be much higher coming into the season. As always at Lacuna we try hard to keep our costs/overhead low and try to provide quality equipment at a price that is sustainable for everyone involved - factory, brand, dealers and of course the stoked riders who are out there using the gear. But more than anything, we would love for everyone to try the gear and see if it is right for them. The most expensive kite is the kite you regret buying because it didn't meet your expectations or doesn't suit your needs. Thanks, The Lacuna Team
Thanks guys! 😊
Hi Is this the latest 2024 vesrion or 2022? There are differet looks and it is difficult to tell which is which.. and would you think it the year model makes a difference? They are all sort of the same price
Hi there, I'm not quite sure... I got this at the end of 2023 so perhaps was the 2022 model?
Wooho! Nice work mate!
Thanks Dave! 🙏
Wow such easy settings thank you for the video !
You're welcome!! 🙌😊
Great vid, what's the best size board for a beginner, and do ozone make safe beginner kites...
Hey mate, thanks! It's usually best to get a slightly bigger board as a beginner (137-140cm). I don't have much experience with Ozone kites at all. I ride for Lacuna kites and the Lacuna Omega V4 (latest version) would be a great and safe kite to learn on. You'll be able to progress on this as well so won't need to buy another kite once you start getting a bit better. Otherwise I'd recommend going for a Cabrinha Switchblade. Hope that helps! 😊
Great Info!
Thank you! 😊
This happen to me too but in worse way . The mystic recommend harness chart is too small too. I end up have 2 stealth harness and 2 spreader bar and I can't return cause ive used it in the water one !!!.
Ah I see, sorry to hear...
A much easier way is just to add an arrow as ASCII text and position/size it as you please. It's so easy you won't need to remember difficult steps to do it, as long as you know how to add text to a video.
Interesting approach! Thanks for sharing! 🙌
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding Thanks. I'm extremely inexperienced with DaVinci Resolve, so ended up here looking for a solution. Couldn't get it to work (probably didn't follow the steps properly) but then had a lightbulb moment! Pure luck! 🙂
No stress at all, thanks again for sharing 🙌
mental brutha!
Thanks mate! 🙌🙏
Awesome skills dude
Thanks mate! Appreciate it 🙏
Hey man, great content, just got my kitesurf licence, still learning though...really like the format of your videos, straight to the point visualizing what goes on, keep 'em coming, cheers 🤙🪂
Hey Miguel! Awesome to hear man! Keep pushing, it only gets better from there 💪 Appreciate the comment mate, definitely will do 🙌
this is great, the advice you're giving is nowhere else on the internet.
Thanks for your kind words! 😊 Super stoked you found it useful 💪
This is kitesurfing, you have beautifully demonstrated the power of this sport. 🙂
Thanks mate! 😊
Where is this if I may ask I normally kite in cannon rocks with you guys
Hey Nick :) Its Wriggleswade dam
Thank you!

Thanks for including troubleshooting 😀
You're welcome!! 🙌
U fun ash😂
Haha 🤣 🤣 Thanks mate
Man, that is so complicated. I wish they made this easier.
Try following the pinned comment in the comments section if this method is too tricky. Download the arrow with no background and drag it straight into the timeline. You won't be able to change the colour of the arrow doing that but should work for you. Hope that is easier for you :)
Hi guys! I know this is not the place for this but I’m asking everybody in hope someone answers: Do we need to enable youtube advanced features (all 3 levels) before we even start posting on a new channel? Or do videos (and views) that we generate before unlocking them still count towards monetization? I’d like to be sure before starting. Thanks in advance.
Hey! 😊 From my experience any views that are generated on a channel will count towards monetisation. The key with enabling RUclips advanced features (Level 1 and 2 of the 3) is that without having this enabled, you can't use certain features such as uploading a custom thumbnail, uploading more than a certain number of videos per day, not being able to put links in your description, etc. My recommendation here would be to verify your channel as early as possible so that you have access to all of these features but I don't believe this should have any impact on monetization.
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding You’re awesome! I won’t forget this kindness. Thanks.
No stress! You're welcome @claragomezb.7849 !! 🙌
I upload gameplay footage on my other RUclips account and i upload in 1440p and the codec shows vp9 in stats too but it still looks like a blurry mess
Hmm, interesting... Perhaps try 4k and see if that makes a difference at all... It's always tricky to work around the compression though.
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding I have tried that too. I've done various things by looking up tutorials on RUclips but nothing has worked
Ah jeez ok... I'm not really sure what to suggest there then...
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding I saw in a video that adding film grain works but does it really?
I think I've actually tried that as well but didn't help much at all...
Im having the same problem but im hesitant about how i can sew 🪡 the wetsuit legs. Did you use regular seeing needle and dental floss?
Hey! Yes, I used a regular sewing needle and fishing braid as this is made from dyneema (same as kite lines) amd is super strong. Don't use dental floss as I doubt that will last in the sun and salt... You should be able to get a small piece of braid from any fishing shop, otherwise just use regular sewing thread (as thick as possible). Hope that helps 🙏
Makes sense to use these for more safety from punches or kicks?
Not sure about punches and kicks, haha but definitely makes a massive difference for crashes and impacts to the ribs 👍
Sounds good, wanna use these for more safety by fottball games and all this stuff, fans and above all the police goes hard in, sometimes without reason or while there looking for stress, and i dont wanna get again broken rips by police brutallity or something XD
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding Sounds good, wanna use these for more safety by fottball games and all this stuff, fans and above all the police goes hard in, sometimes without reason or while there looking for stress, and i dont wanna get again broken rips by police brutallity or something
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding thanks for the answer
@FieberTraumBilligReisen OK, yes makes sense 👌
Any advice about what settings to film in to avoid the Instagram quality compression?
Hey! From my experience, what you film in doesn't make too much difference, it's what settings your export from your editing software follows (which I'm assuming you use) that makes the difference. I find these settings to give the best results: Resolution: 1080p Frame Rate: 60fps Codec: H.264 codec / .MOV Bit rate: 10,000 - 15,000 kbps video bitrate Length: sub 60 seconds Ideal file size: 15MB Upload from a mobile device (not desktop) Hope this helps! :)
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding thank you so much. Don't usually get any replies so will subscribe for sure. And Will give it a try soon as I can.
Awesome, thanks mate! Appreciated 🙏 Let me know how you go
@@K1NG_EDWARDis this settings works for you ?
@@SahilSambyal-w6w I still haven't tried it yet. But if you try it, let me know how it goes 👍
yeeeeew!
Dope 👌😎
OH YEAH!!!!
@teagan_bok_kiteboarding Did this step by step. Why can't I see the arrow when I go back to the "Edit" Tab if the bypass (as you instructed us to do) is turned off? Does anyone know how to fix it?
I'm not sure there... make sure that the Fusion composition is in the top video track and that the little effects button (colorful ring) in the top right corner is turned on. That should hopefully fix the issue.
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding Wow, quickest response I’ve ever gotten. Thanks! Will try!
Awesome to hear! No stress 🙌 Let me know how you go 👍
Niiice. I still can't get these... doesn't seem to matter where/when I loop, the kite just rips me through the air 😂
Thanks mate! Haha, definitely been there 😅 Try and swing under the kite as much as possible. The more you swing under, the less aggressive the loop should be.
Awesome video, dude! Thank you!
You're welcome!! 🙌 😎
Thank you so much! Just what I was looking for. Much appreciated.
Awesome to hear! You're welcome 🙌
Any follow up on this a year later?
Still working 100% 💪 haven't had a single problem with it 👍
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding Nice, i was impatient, and bought a slim profile "right angle mount" from Amazon out of alumnium, its decent. I had to cut into my foamy and its a bit of a fight to line up the gopro with the bracket, but it works
Ok awesome! Yeah, that will work as well 👌
Wish we can have same settings while recording horizontally for reels or shorts.
Yes, I 100% agree. They added that feature to the Hero 12
@@teagan_bok_kiteboarding thats not fair
