There was a photo in the English steam railway magazine taken at Seymour of 4472 next to R761 and the magazine said that the Australians had re-gauged 4472 to the broad gauge so she wouldn't be returning to the UK. The UK readers went into meltdown suggesting all sorts of retribution against Australia. Of course those in the know even in the UK knew it was a very good leg pull and knew the reaction the caption under the photo would get.

I had this VHS when I was a kid & I used to watch it with my Granddad who passed away nearly 20 years ago. I found this yesterday after talking about my granddad & then went searching online to find it & as soon as the video started with the close up from a helicopter shot of the Scotsman’s cabin, I got emotional as I had a flood of memories just come back to me. Thank you for posting this up for everyone’s enjoyment & hopefully like me to relive precious memories 😊🤗👍

31:27 a lot of that has changed as of today the level crossing seen here in this clip is gone completely so instead it has the road that goes right by the entrance of Tipton station

  • @thebrummierailenthusiasts5329

18:16 Sadly smethwick west station is now overgrown and it’s been like this since it closed in 1996 and as for the signal box it’s now long gone

18:57 I still go to Kidderminster to attend the gala weekends especially for steam galas and diesel galas on the Severn valley railway

  • @thebrummierailenthusiasts5329

9:15 Worcester shrub hill still sees semaphore signals still In operations as it did during the days of steam

  • @thebrummierailenthusiasts5329

8:22 all that has changed since then the platforms of bromsgrove were moved further back from the position where the cameraman is standing and it’s now a new terminus for the cross city line
