Check the air heat valve in the bottom of the air filter box. It’s a little hassle to gain access but worth it. Has a wax thermostatic valve to channel hot air to the intake during cold weather to avoid icing in very cold climates. In Texas, I’d just wedge the valve to the cold position and remove the crossover duct and aluminum flex hose to simplify things. Gave a VERY noticeable increase in HP on my ‘95 960 sedan.

I am hoping they replaced the nut with just a friction hold into a plastic fitting...any know? There is no nut to remove. I think I will leave the flange on and remove the hose clamps to the flange, so only 6 need replaced and "should" just wiggle out if the bottom nut isn't a nut.

I’d check coolant for signs of exhaust gas. I had a phantom blown head gasket. Blowing combustion gas into the coolant pressurizing it. This is a fairly common problem with these cars.
