Top 10 Worst Calls In MLB History

My very subjective, unbiased opinion of the top 10 worst calls of all time. Measuring these took a combination of how bad the call was along with the leverage of the situation.

Ryan Howard walk off double. River Cats win 7-6 in 10 innings
Let’s go Dodger!!!
You know it's a bad ump call when the stands trash the field
That Pierzynski call was pure crap 💩!!!
7:19 this one confuses me greatly, how do you even mess this one up?! 💀
You can add the umps calling the Guardians foul ball a home run against the Royals - even after the replay showed a close up of the ball disappearing behind the foul pole without changing its trajectory at all, making it physically impossible for it to have been a home run... both announcers, both teams, were saying "I can't believe they called that a home run" - the batter was going back to the plate when the ump told him it was a home run.
Love RUclips putting a thumbnail in the middle of the screen before the video is over.
Fuck the Twins.
My god the music in this fucking ruins it
How can an Umpire make a mistake like at 4:26 ?? That's crazy, and hopefully investigated. That should have been his last game ever in MLB.
The play was actually a lot closer than most people think, upon closer inspection you can see that the catcher's swipe tag at *most* BARELY made contact with him, so it was actually a lot harder to call than you'd think
@@NickTheFlasque Rarely have I been so rightfully rebutted (at least rarely in my mind). Upon further inspection of my own 4:26 post, that play was actually unable to be reversed based on that angle alone.
The music ruined the video
Eric Gregg - "what's a strike zone?"
shut off the pointless annoying music .........
It's atrocious that fan interference can even happen. Why are ball parks not designed to keep fans from interfering?
Even the base runner was shocked
I think we all knew what #1 was gonna be as soon as we saw the title of the clip. Especially if you are tigers fan like me
This goes to show that mlb has a beef with the Braves 3/10 on this list went against the Braves in crucial playoff moments(cardinals in wild card, livan’s moon sized strike zone in the nlcs, and the leg pull vs the twins was in the series ffs) and the one that went for the Braves was just a game I think in like July like a freaking mid season game
Those close plays with the pitcher covering first are very tough, and probably blown more than any other kind of call. The pitcher 's feet are moving so much slower than the batter-runner's feet, it can give the illusion that the batter got there first. Then the ump has to listen for the ball hitting the glove, but it's traveling slowly and doesn't make a loud noise, and the fans are yelling because the play is close. In the st Louis game, the pitcher stepped on the bag awkwardly, and his foot came off a split second after he caught the ball....a lot of things to keep track of....all at once. Without slo-mo, it's really tough. I see local semi-pro umps blow this call all the time.
There's a difference between calls that aren't even close vs calls that impacted the result of a game
4:26 The only logical explanation for that umpire’s terrible safe call at home was because of the fact that the game went 19 innings and the home plate umpire had no desire to take the game to 20 innings which is why he did so as an excuse to end the game. He probably felt very tired and wanted the game to be over.
3:08 here's somthing i dont get...HOW is it legal for the catcher to block the plate from me touching it but i can't TRUCK HIM INTO NEXT SEASON ?!!?
You left out the pitches thrown to Barry bonds by the Mets
How didn't the Blown Perfect Game 2010, 2011 maybe, not make your list? Detroit Pitcher, (not a Tigers fan so I can't remember his name) Armando maybe! BUT I CAN REMBER THAT LOOK ON HIS FACE. Your list is suspect fella
Much like daytime tv baseball is a fabricated drama show. It’s a garbage sport.
4:28 The Atlanta/Pittsburgh one, if I remember correctly, was called safe at home plate because the catcher swiped upward but didn't actually tag the runner. At least I recall that being the argument and that on replay it did look close. Hard to tell since the vid doesn't show that replay.
That's why I hate ump/ referees
Sorry but number 5 should be number 1. It was a playoff game.
ARE all Umps jews?
I don't understand how there was ever a debate for instant replay.
It's always so nice when showing a definitive slow-mo replay to cover it up with a promo for another video.
Background music ruins this lmaoo I don’t get why people do this
Braves fans pissed that Hernandez was given for a game what Glavine got for a career.
Galarraga got his perfect game in our hearts
MLB does not need umpires anymore. Instant replay and AI should take over ASAP!
jim joyce yeah sure terrible call... but wtf was cabrera ranging that far over.. it was a ground ball to the second baseman.. easy out. Why couldn't cabrera just let the ball go and get his ass to first?
Still hate Doug Eddings
That was so sad to see that pitcher get robbed out of a PERFECT GAME… The look on the pitchers face tells it all. That play should of been overturned by the league, it should still be overturned.
As a Yankee fan i see no issue with 2 of those calls😅
Lmao the infield fly rule
I remember watching that Eric Gregg game. That's beyond embarrassing how off the plate some of those pitches were. Sorry to Braves fans, as that must've been excruciating to see.
Proof that this sport is phony trash
The umpires probably had some money on these games. I cannot imagine any other reason, unless the umpires needing their eyes checked.
Background music sucks dude
Proud graduates of the ANGEL HERNANDEZ AND JOE WEST SCHOOL OF UMPIRING
What are the 10 best calls in MLB history? That would be boring wouldn't it. Still one should recognize that umps get far more calls right than wrong. Its the ones they miss we remember,
It's crazy how much of this bull shit happens to the Braves.
MY TOP 15 WORST Calls in MLB History: 15. 1991 World Series 14. 2007 NL Wild Card 13. 1985 World Series 12. Strike out that never happened (2005 ALCS) 11. Adam Rosales robbed home run (2013) 10. I have sort of learned most of the NFLs peculiarities as an Englishman, but I have absolutely no idea what the hell is happening when I watch an American Rounders clip.
Smith Timothy Thompson Shirley Thompson Christopher
#9 was technically the correct call FYI.
#9 was the correct call.
So was #6.
