R51 Pathfinder exiting Poison Spider
Left it Raw, originally wasn’t going to upload. The depth and angle didn’t really show how difficult the terrain was and makes it look boring. The off camber drop at the end was the pucker factor here.

Found Pathy's limits in Poison Spider Moab Nissan Pathfinder R51
Просмотров 10 тыс.4 месяца назад
Finally found it's limits. Hell's revenge apart from extreme features like escalators, and Mickey’s bathtub is vastly easier. Even exiting through the highly eroded alt trail exit is easier than poison spider. Time for front locker, 35s and high clearance metal bumpers. Left video uncut.. most obstacles I've done take one or 2 tries. Here is the uncensored evaluation of it's capabilities. Turn ...

Nissan Pathfinder R51. No Spotter, no lockers
How do you engage abls vhen driving like this? Is need to use 2 pedal at same time gas and brake? Or only keep the gas pedal on same position?
Only the gas pedal, just easy on the throttle to not over power the traction control.
This is a tall station wagon. 32's? Soccer mom ride.
Haha rides like one. See what it can do nearly stock.
I most certainly will not get anything Nissan unless it's a GTR
I agree with that. Truck w/o the cummins are solid. Mine I’ve beat up. Several deep water crossings a year and salt belt state doesn’t help those clamps haha
Don't bother, they just follow trend they don't actually care. Saying the only cool car in nissan lineup is the GT-R (which one btw) is crazy, just in sport cars they have the 240 and 350z, 300zx that are sick
the v6 is stable
Ok....seen stock PUs do the same
In the USA people don’t know its a body on frame suv, rather a lifted minivan. So it a cheap do it all vehicle. It’s my daily, camper tow, and road trip vehicle. Never stuck, broke, down, or skipped a beat. For $5000 its a decent buy.
Why would a spotter be needed. It's not like Hell's gate or the escalator or even the crack on Moab Rim just to name a few examples.
This angle doesn’t do it justice but I was wheeling alone. A tacoma rolled on this obstacle. It is really off angle. When I land you can see my rear tire pickup again in the video. That is where the tacoma rolled over.
Да ну нахуй
Ah yes. When Nissan made SUV’s. I remember.
Engine please ?
4.0 V6 petrol.
You’re also going to want to orient that thrust washer correctly. The concave side should face up toward the mount.
Do you have protection underneath? Factory skids or aftermarket?
I’m running 3/16 steel plate package from shrock works for a Nissan Frontier (D40). Have the engine, transmission, and transfer-case plate. Nobody makes a “pathfinder” skid plate but the d40 frontier is the same chassis and crossmember layout so you can use anything from that chassis.

Im about to get a 2012 nissan pathfinder with 174k miles on it in a week
Nice! I have 171k on mine and still going tough
I have to wait a little longer because the shop that owns the car is trying to fix the ac on it, I can probably get it in a few days, also its a SV trim
Pathy??? WTF
For a minute I thought how did that dog pick such a good line! But then I had to remember I am an Australian where our driver's seat is on the right hand side
Good driver and good spotter👍👍
The bumper trim was perfect here lol
Tried this trail last October and decided to not attempt this obstacle and turn around. I was confident I could do it but didn't want to push my luck. Good work. I had plans to go back and do the whole trail next week but will have to postpone the trip unfortunately. My plan there was to go more to the left and to up at an angle to avoid all of those dug out areas where you can get high centered. Are you nearby? We should get together next time I am out there. Hoping for mid to late September now.
Yeah that sounds good. I'm only 2 hr from Moab so we can definitely do Poison Spider. I am wanting to try top of the world as well. Rating on that trail just increased.
@@mikehub6664 thats also on my list. I tried before but couldn't make it work. Now I have a locker I think it'll do fine.
YES!!! Someone knows how to use ABLS!!
Good stuff. Pathy strong!
After every off road drive go to the car wash.
اي سياره دفع رباعي القيام بذلك حتى سبورتاج من كيا 2007تقوم بذلك بسهوله جدا
I actually passed one on the trail entrance. He could not pass the gatekeeper obstacle. No, 2007 kia could not make survive this trail. I made it past the gatekeeper but just barely. We were both surprised.
I admire your patience. Some of the aussie videos I watch would have gone full send at some point.
Almost got to that point haha. I need the "Remember stupid, you need to drive this home!"
Full send is asking for trouble lol
My car actually sounds like that too.
Awesome vid bro! Are you running all terrains or regular tires? With 35s, you're looking at re gearing the rear diff, I think.
Running 32in all terrains. 265/75r17. The 2005-2008 had a lower gear ratio than 2009-2011 so I’ll probably swap those in to help eventually.
@@mikehub6664 really? What's your source for that. I thought everything was the same except for the v8 option changing the hood length and some other engine related supporting structure
@@azfersaeed1602 Nation Pathfinder Off road association (NAPORA). This is how they improved the mpg in the later model. Higher final drive ratio.
Очень много зависит от водителя, посади другого водителя не факт что он проедет
You've proved time and again the 4WD system in this vehicle rocks
The ABLS system works fairly well if you are gentle with the throttle.
Impressive drive! Little surprised you made it up with bumpers intact and no lockers. Nice!
High clearance cuts on the bumper saved it! But lost is on porcupine rim trail. That should now be a higher rating than 4/10. Need to be re evaluated.
you killed your suspension
Haha yeah it getting foam cell shocks and springs soon.
Bigger tires and higher lift but not too much an better tires and you have your self a beast
that gave me anxiety 😢
tip, add full vehicle name in the title , you will get lot of views, because for example if someone search for nissan pathfinder r51 offroad, will never find this video, or at least in the description😉
Thanks for the Tip!
nice😎
Thanks ✌
Good vid! The gasp at 1:21 haha
That thing sounds like it has arthritis.
🤣🤣🤣 true
Do you have any front lockers
No lockers on this rig yet
ABLS for the win! Nicely done. Have you tried Hells Gate? Curious if it can handle that.
I haven’t gathered the courage yet haha almost. I don’t trailer, so I have to be able to drive it back several hours.
@@mikehub6664 Very understandable. I've heard it's for lockers only. I would hate to get near the top and find out it's not enough.
@@plorks445 I'm sure with careful tire placement it could be done. ABLS would rather have a wheel lift than a slipping wheel on the rocks so I sometimes pick lines that purposely lift a wheel to get better performance out of the system.
@@mikehub6664 I have a stock 2012 and love the ABLS. What do you mean though by saying it loves a wheel in the air rather than a slipping wheel? Wouldn't the slipping wheel be stopped by ABLS?
@@azfersaeed1602 ABLS stops once it picks up traction but on a tacky surface like slick rock it can mess up. It stops the slip and transfers torque then when the slipping wheel is rotating slower than the drive wheel with higher traction it releases causing you to slip back again and abls re-engages. So you rock back and forth until you over come the obstacle which puts a lot of strain on the weak spider gears in the front diff.
Don’t need lockers unless your tires are coming off the ground. Wouldn’t use front locker on anything that requires steering input on areas of good traction.
R51 is always lifting a wheel hahaha short travel fully independent suspension on all 4 corners but ABLS manages it surprisingly well.
I've had a front locker for about a year now and it has been amazing for doing stuff like this. But yes, when locked the steering effort is harder.
Great work. Nissans are awfully capable for what they are
I was following some RZR and 2 built jeeps. On Hell's revenge next day and they were surprised I kept up.
@@mikehub6664 We have a very underrated truck. Not having a solid axle and locking diffs does take away some capability but I feel ABLS gives 90% of the capability.
just on the limit of not-enough , but you made it !!
Hell's Revenge is a walk in the park aside from featured obstacles compared to Poison Spider.
Esp lock
Was this in 4 high or 4 low? What settings?

Please describe your technique.

It was a 50mm lift shipped from Russia 5yrs ago.

I love my Xterra and once I learned to use ABLS it was a beast off road ! Has certain advantages over lockers, and I can keep up with my friends Jeeps !
It's more affective than the first gen A Trac that competed against ABLS. Or the Explorer TC.
Once I learned how to use my Xterras ABLS limited slip feature I could do amazing things off road without a lockers and keep up with any of the 6 Jeeps I used to own and even keep up with my Friends Jeeps !
Right on!
