    Great! Really enjoyed this one Dee. I love North Weald too for all the same reasons! I was thinking to myself the other day that I’ve not practised a stall, diversion or pfl for a while now so might give that a go. Look forward to the next video!

      Easy for you!😅... Good point. A forward slip would increase drag, increase RoD, and maintain airspeed. A good tool to use as long as no full flaps extended.

    Wind direction is not all that important in an emergency.

    • @FuturePilotNinerOne
      @FuturePilotNinerOne 29 дней назад

      Thanks for the comment. Please see below. If the wind is 0kts, ground speed would be at 65kts, meaning the aircraft will glide 1.08 NM every minute (65kts÷60mins). In a 40kts headwind, the ground speed would be 25kts (65-40=25kts), meaning the aircraft will glide 0.42NM every minute (25kts÷60min). If you only had a minute gliding time from engine failure, wind strength and direction (velocity) could make the difference between whether you can reach a field that is 1nm away or not. If the wind were pushing you, you could glide to a field much further away than you could have, without wind. Aside from affecting gliding distance, wind direction can have a part to play in one's ability to exit the aircraft in an emergency such as an engine fire. If you dispute this, please explain why wind is not all that important in an emergency. Thanks 🙏🏿👊🏿

    Thinking about the £1 analogy and charity… you don’t need money to help others, giving is free as are manners, it’s just up to you how you choose to give. So if a person is in need of 10% extra savings, I’d like to think that is okay as long as you can match your giving another way. Generosity and seeing others thrive can be a payment in itself, if again, ‘you choose’ to view it that way

    • @FuturePilotNinerOne
      @FuturePilotNinerOne Месяц назад

      Absolutely! Money is just one form of resource. Sometimes, what we give in time and energy can be far more beneficial to someone than the money 💰 we could afford to give them... the way that we use financial resources is a demonstration of the values we have. 70% going to ourselves acknowledges that we do need to take care of us. 10% active investment is a challenge to find avenues to make our money grow- to be investors and not just consumer. 10% passive investment is a reminder that there is room for low-risk strategies that stabilise. 10% charity is a reminder that ultimately, meaning is found in service to others. Learning these lessons and how to manage money effectively is an invaluable skill that more people should be taught much earlier.

      @@FuturePilotNinerOne I've got my ppl recently just got my licence and taking a 1 year gap and working full time to save up money. I was thinking to go USA for better jobs, cheaper training costs, and better pay and lifestyle. But I haven't decided yet. I don't really want to work in the UK since weather is appalling and not allot jobs compared to numerous airlines in the US. You can also fly tiny private jets and regional jets that have sane pay as any major airline in the UK. Also training will last me only 1 year and costing 50k inc accommodation since I already have my PPL. In the UK I have to spend 1 year doing ATPLs, which I find really difficult and then another year or so to get my CPL MEP IR. What do you suggest?

You know what to do, go for it!! 💪🏾 There has been some talk about mutual license recognition between CAA and FAA (I hear). If that happens, that will make it even easier for you. I imagine. Only thing I can say is make sure your strategy/plan suits you and your circumstances. e.g. If I tried to save up a year before beginning PPL, I probably wouldn't have a license right now. Hello, I’m applying for the gliding scholarship 2024 and I was just wondering if you have any idea how many people on average apply per year?

    • @FuturePilotNinerOne
      @FuturePilotNinerOne 8 месяцев назад

      Awesome! If I remember correctly, this past year, there were around 300 applications for the gliding scholarship and about 28 winners. So, you're aiming to be in the top 8-10% of applicants.... for PPL, it was 750+ applicants, with 8 winners selected, putting us around the top top 1% of applicants. Gliding scholarship is definitely worth applying for, and winning it will likely put you in a good position for PPL scholarship, if you're interested in that, even though you can apply to both at the same time.
