There are two main reasons the SU-57 hasn't been put in mass production yet. The first is that the Russian Airforce was waiting for the new engine and other features to be added before they started mass production. the second was that Russia had to build and upgrade their fabrications facilities to replace imports. Those are almost done so there shouldn't be any major problems with mass production. The old engine which was just a placeholder was also the reason why countries like India didn't want to buy it. In ww2 the Wehrmacht used the half tracks SdKfz 250/251 as IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle). The Marder is based on the concepts of the former Wehrmachtsofficiers that influenced the early Bundeswehr. When the Bundeswehr was established the requirement for a modern IFV was formulated and the HS30 developed. The HS30 did not meet the expectations. The Marder was designed in the 60ies and built in the 70ies. It is fascinating the a vehicle that was designed some 60 years ago is still of great value in a modern war. The issue that the West is not providing Ukraine sufficient military equipment is due to the half hearted support of the Ukraine. The USA has still several 1000 mothballed M1 tanks and M2 IFV in storage. The West has about the 20-fold GDP of Russia. It is about the lack of any determination in western societies.

So Ukraine has issues with spare parts and repairing Marders, although given parts and training with the vehicles, but the Russians, who don't use the vehicle, have no problem replacing numerous parts and getting a captured one back into running order? Really?

My man, one vehicle won't be the end of anything. It's just one vehicle. Everyone knows that any equipment sent risks being destroyed or captured eventually. It's one of the reasons the west has largely not sent their most modern weapons, instead preferring to go for equipment being replaced or from the reserves. They just look cutting edge to the Russian military because of the significant technological and design edge of many western weapon systems. Regarding the depletion of military equipment: Russian/soviet IFV reserves is set to run out by mid/late 2025 at current loss rates. These reserves have been built up during many decades by the USSR, with a significantly more war-focused economy than Russia can muster today. And yet for this, and many equipment types, they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. Consider the rusty Kalashnikovs and antique tanks Russia is already pressing into service. So I'm pretty sure Ukraine and the west are in no risk of running out first.
