I made this channel on a lark.
A friend of mine in another state asked me to figure out a song for him.
I said "sure"
Then came a problem....how do I get this video instruction video over to you quickly?
So my channel was born.
Thanks everybody for your kind words.
I didn't make this channel to say I any better or any worse than any other bassist.
I consider myself a good bass player and a lousy film editor.(I'm sure you've noticed)
Hopefully some kid sees this old guy(me) playing bass and whispers to him/herself
...."Hey I'd like to try that'

This band completely changed my way of thinking towards music.
Where they took music to in 1973 is stunning.
This song is a masterpiece and to this day I believe is still ahead of its time.
In my Bassist "Mt.Rushmore".....Chris Squire would be one of them.
I think if Mozart and Beethoven could have heard this piece of music they would have been very impressed

One of the reasons Black Sabbath were so legendary was their ability to Fuse Jazz and Blues into the music they created. I've never heard a drummer swing like Bill Ward. Such groove, such feel. Tonys intro riff is total Jazz and Geezers playing complements this song incredibly well. This song is as poignant lyrically now as it was 55 years ago. Just unbridled brilliance.

Such a fan of the great Rex Brown of Pantera. A really fluid player and monster tone just puts this guy on another level. LOVE this guys bass playing.

Another great track from Bassist Bob Daisley. So rock solid, so silky smooth. So unbelievably melodic. I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you play bass, STUDY Bob Daisley. One of the true giants of Rock Bass.

The gorgeous singing bass of Queens John Deacon. Not only a great bassist, but also a writer of some of Queens biggest hits and greatest songs. His sense of melody is almost unequalled in Rock. Easily one of Rocks greatest bass players

Such an honor to cover this legend. I speak of none other than Bassist, Willie Dixon. Folks, this is how Rock and Roll started. Without these guys the Stones, Cream, Zeppelin and basically everyone else would have never existed . We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to these brilliant musicians. Willie Dixon passed away in 1992. RIP

The incredible Dee Murray. (David Murray Oates) His basslines are amazing, every time I study his many works I am always blown away how his playing puts Eltons songs almost on another level. Almost a song within a song. Listen to his creative, melodic lines on this masterpiece. IMHO this is Eltons Johns finest record. (Goodbye Yellow Brick road.) Sadly, Dee passed away in 1992. RIP

Fantastic groove laid out by the incomparable rhythm section of Bonham and Jones. Crazy funk time signature. Jones may be the greatest bassist in all of Rock and Roll.

It's 1983 and a kid in my high school told me to listen to this one song from Accept called "Fast as a shark" I was so blown away I had to go sit down for a while and collect my thoughts. I NEVER heard something so fast as ferocious in my whole life. Many people consider this song as the very birth of speed metal. I agree. What a GREAT bassline laid down by the legendary John Paul Jones. This was the B-side of the Immigrant song. This line has almost a Motown feel and you can definitely hear the James Jamerson influence on JPJ's playing. One of the absolute greatest bassist thats ever walked this planet. He may very well be the best of them all. I think so.

Yeah, sorry about that. It's a fine line when I make these videos. I put the bass up too high and people tell me they cant hear the other instruments. I mix it too low and people tell me they cant hear my bass. I've gotten a little better over the years. LOL! But, I see your point. I may re-do this with a louder bass mix. Fun vid and nice tabs. Well played and I could actually hear your bass. With the official tracks, Anthony's part is mixed way down to where it's very hard to hear(on youtube, at least). Seems a shame. Any reason why the tab scroll was behind the beat?

Great choice as a cover song. I always liked this song a lot and felt it was a great deep cut track from the Bark at the Moon album, and was a tad underrated in my opinion. The bass line has a Steve Harris type of a charge and feel to it I think, and I could almost see Harris approaching a song like this in this type of fashion even though it is Bob Daisley in fact. Bob Daisley was the unsung hero of Ozzys career, especially in those early days. Great job.
@@deniguenard8278 Absolutely right. I thought when Ozzy fired Daisley his music wasn't nearly as good afterwards I just wished they would have patched up their differences and made one last record together .

Good question? 😂 I know the mixolydian scale has that flat 7th, so I don't think that scale progression Daisley plays has that. I believe it's just a major scale. .... anybody out there can answer this? (Sorry, I'm not sure)
@@ognir66 I know he tied a lot of this together with the mixolydian scales. Like bridges and such. Daisley is an absolute music god. Higher level of understanding. Perfect to be coupled with Randy. Ozzy's first 4 solo albums are some of the best rock I have ever heard. The first two are prog ROCK! THAT rocks!

I have always thought when Daisley left Ozzy the quality of his material dropped about 40% In fact, I think Ozzys Albums post 1996 are pretty uneven and somewhat uninspired Daisley has been a HUGE influence on me. Dude is just a beast. Sad he and Ozzy couldn't make one last record together😥
