@@geneac1 I don’t think it was queerbaiting… why do you think so? They told a WLW story from beginning to end (they broke up a few months ago). But they should have never used a woman for this affair. They should have just let Harper cheat with a man, and it would have been a similar story (though not exactly the same, because at the start it seemed like Phil was flirting with Drew). However, the outcome with the Drewper ending wouldn't have been as shocking to many people, and they couldn’t have been blamed for the 'bury your gays' trope. The LGBTQ community really bonded over Pharper, but it didn’t even matter because, unfortunately, Ria had other plans than becoming a queer icon and decided to leave the show. So, whatever 🤷‍♀️ 😩

@@totallylost8696 Based on Ria’s farewell message, I’m pretty sure budget cuts were the driving force behind her decision to leave. I’m not entirely sure if she really wanted to part with Harper. But getting rid of 2 long running cast members for 12 years would save a lot of money. Ria was advocating for SS to go on so show might be in danger of eventually getting cancelled.

@DhwaniVora92 For me, it sounds like it was her own decision because it's beautifully written without any hatred. She even wants them to succeed (in 5 weeks) in the future... who would hope for that if they fired you?! 🤷

@@totallylost8696 I don’t think she was fired. I believe they must’ve approached both Sally and Ria. Sally didn’t even mention the budget cuts but Ria did. Why would she do that on her farewell post if that wasn’t one of the factors driving her to leave? She wants SS to succeed cause after 12 years it must’ve been like family. The no of hours they shoot are intense. There’s lot of love among cast and crew. Her goodbye sounded more bittersweet. Like she’s mourning the loss of Harper herself. It seemed like she wasn’t quite ready. Otherwise her post would’ve been more like it was 12 years and I was tired. She said that to me but obviously she’s not going to badmouth her fellow SS ppl. Her post seemed less like I’m tired, bored and want to move on. She acknowledged all the social media support and fans reaching out. She wouldn’t have responded or engaged with any of us if she was like mentally done with Harper. She loved Harper being appreciated. She engages more with fans than I’ve seen any celebrity do. It doesn’t even seem like they have the next job lined up. That doesn’t sound like a person to me who’s done with their job, wants a new opportunity and move on. Sally and Ria must’ve been one of the highest paid actors. SS hired new cast for 2025. Budget cuts must’ve been the reason to leave. Otherwise why even mention it? 🤷‍♀️

@@totallylost8696 No one will ever admit to being fired or let go. That’s a knowledge you’d want to keep limited. There’s definitely no sour feelings. They did get the longest ongoing storylines in the season. Phil and Harper started on June 4. But it’s like if they approached Ria to leave and she agreed. Then #pharper became a big social media phenomenon. Ria even acknowledged the wonderful response she’s gotten from fans. SS couldn’t adapt in time to clock in this viral growing popularity ppl had with #pharper intentionally. #Drewper is probably more beloved to ppl who’ve seen that relationship grow over 9 years with a family. Ben and Ria are great together and have a certain spark as Harper and Drew. But it’s nowhere near the chemistry she has with Jane. Just think about this. It became so popular despite of them actually being together for like little time. There was a lot of going back and forth. Then months of when will they tell Drew. They started with the fallout of having an affair. Gender swapping traditional roles. Men are shown to cheat far more commonly than women. Since they handpicked Ria to leave, they had to give it nice ending to appease long time fans and kill here off 😂😭💔

@@shananas3690 No need to hope any further. I know a Pharper fan who actually sent Ria a private message, and I can tell you for sure that she is gone based on how she responded. Unfortunately, there's no possibility left to hope for a miracle. I really dreamed of a good patchwork family story with them, but it's over before it even began. 😩 Merry Christmas!

@totallylost8696 , I agree! The last month was just full of nonsense. We never understood how Harper really felt about Phil, for me it's seems like she has more than a feeling. And the writers of the show just erase the hall affair like it's never happened! And quickly Harper starts to love Drew again and before a couple of months she couldn't say I love you to him...

Our love, words, newspaper articles about #pharper didn’t end up mattering at all. They essentially ignored us. That’s the saddest thing of all. I’ve never seen a show so out of touch with it’s budding fandoms

@@DhwaniVora92 Not that I want any character's death, but it should have been Drew instead of Harper. They are making the show worse. I feel for Drew, but don't the get me wrong, he will most definitely take it to the extreme. Drew will start 2025 with a drama based on Harper's death, he will be more childish about her loss than their children. He could even blame Emmett, Esther, Phil and the rest for not saving her life, and throw a pity party, expecting every one to be around him and pamper him like a baby.

@ yeah but this show seems to champion it’s straight white men. Majority of the shorty fans love Drew and hate Harper. They didn’t like the whole #pharper storyline. We’re sadly in the minority. 😭

@@anjalij6217 Actually, it wasn’t because they also talked in the hospital afterward. At the time, Phil believed she would get fired (I don’t know how this was ever resolved? But Drew tried to end his lufe shortly afterward.) Drew interrupted the “I’m sorry” dialogue after Harper was concerned that Phil might leave during their first conversation in this episode. But after Drew’s suizide attempt everything changed for Pharper, so yeah, it’s most likely over. A little bit of a troubling message from the show... 😩

I also think the last 1-2 months had a terrible script. Everything was for Drew, Harper kept begging, P was turned into the villain with no support...🤦 The shiny boy cheated, wanted to kill himself and leave 3 kids behind, but he was never criticized. Everyone helps him, and he gets everything in the end 🤦 Unbelievable!

His decision to almost kill himself isn't Harper's or Phil's fault. I really hope this show doesn't get that wrong. We'll see in the next three weeks. I guess most people in Phil's situation would leave the hospital, but she won't. So let's see how this story continues. Hopefully not in a complete heartbreaking disaster.

It was the worst decision to mix the aftermath of an LGBT story with a suicide attempt like this. We all know that suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts and suicides are far too common in the LGBT community. Many stopped watching and gave up on Pharper...

Most likely, but there's still a month to go until the finale. I wouldn't bet on a happy ending for Drewper just yet. Too much has happened in between and the series has many twists and turns. We'll see. In the end, it doesn't even matter because Ria (Harper) is rumored to have left the series. (it's a rumor, but since hardcore fans started it, nothing points in a different direction, quite the opposite.)

Only Pharper fans are calling it an end because it's the end of the "affair season/our Pharper season". And probably for Pharper overall. Unfortunately rumors say Ria (Harper) won't return, so we'll see if that's true and if not, hopefully Pharper will live on into the next season. We don't know how this season ends, I hope with a Pharper happy ending too. Anything is still possible. It's too early to say. I think it's too soon to end with Drewper, they twist and turn their stories quite a lot right? You can probably tell me if that's just my opinion after watching this season and its wlw storylines...

I'm also starting to believe the rumor that Ria (Harper) has left the show and that Harper won't make it to next year. That would be a real shame. I really hope the rumor isn't true. So there are two things to hope for: A happy ending for Pharper and Harper in general 🤞Happy holidays!

@@alichita13 Last week and this week Pharper was fine. After a rough patch they are on very good terms again. They can help each other to heal. Phil could help Harper not to turn mad because of her guilt.... 🤷 It's still a month until it's really over. Nothing is decided yet. Everything will change again and again... Drew's suffer story will hopefully be over next week... still 3 weeks left 🤷. I don't think we'll get the pharper ending we want but still... they'll not leave us stranded with nothing for the next 3 weeks.

Love is love. We don't celebrate divorce. We celebrate Harper and Phil. You don't cheat on your partner if you're happy in your marriage. I'm part of the queer community. We are completely underrepresented in the media. That's why we love wlw couples who seem genuinely in love with each other. And Harper was/is one of those rare couples who are fun to watch because they have great chemistry. So I'd be happy if wlw love won and we got a blended family story.... (that's not going to happen, (for other reasons) but Pharper has given Shortland Street a huge PR boost which is hard to explain unless you're part of the LGBT+ community yourself. Because of the few media couples, we all see the same content worldwide... and 1 in 10 people are queer so there are a lot of us 🌈 divorce is sad. Cheating is not OK. But sometimes love finds its way when you don't want it and you can't control your feelings...

@@totallylost8696 so aptly stated. I’m tired of quoting references from last decade when it comes to really good movies and wlw couples. But after what happened with Drew plot, I don’t even know if I want them back to together. One thing that I had foolishly cherished about this story so far was lack of trauma. Then they go ahead and mix it in. Maybe we don’t matter. It was probably too much to ask from the writers to stay away from traumatic stories. Drew has a lot of narcissistic traits. But I see that getting rewarded consistently on this show. The message they’re putting out is women and their happiness doesn’t matter. Don’t dare to love. Stick with current horrible marriage no matter how much time you keep making each other miserable and fighting. It’s all Harper’s fault that Drew has been uncommunicative throughout the time before and after he found out about the affair. She’s been trying a lot. But guess that doesn’t matter. Hang Harper because she dared to actually go after someone who paid attention to her instead of narcissistic, selfish person like Drew. I’m so done with this show. Hate I ever came across horrible thing called #pharper. I wish the actors had not advertised the relationship in the first place. Give people false hope when they knew the outcome. I’m so tired of trauma in wlw stories. Even Happiest Season from 2020 had so much trauma in it. It’s like we don’t deserve happiness.

I hope more people in the world realize a little bit of kindness and compassion go long ways. That's another thing I hate about #drewper supporters is they have so much vitriol. Hey we knows cheating isn't good, but it wasn't a meaningless fling either. I wish Harper had been treated with more compassion. Someone to help her get through everything. Yes I agree with mostly what being said 🌹 but these shows are taking advantage of the LGBT+ community . When they do a story line with w|w they viewers ship and ratings goes up and still choose to ignore the fact that the viewers want the outcome not always to be painful or tragic , yes the shows are Drama and that’s what pulls the audience in. Right now. I am checking out a storyline on Lisa and Carla really looking forward to their storyline Carla hitting fifty being straight her whole life and now she’s developing feelings for this woman who is gay. I am from the US but always looking forward for a good story that will not always break your heart 💔 So far I am seeing Thailand have been bringing all sorts of series with happy ending and their ratings are off the chart for me there characters are so young but the audience are enjoying it. Hopefully America & Europe will get better ❤️‍🩹

As much as I want Harper and Phil together, after everything that's happened, neither are they getting back together anytime together, nor would it be appropriate given the turn of events as of right now. But whatever happens w Pharper, Harper and Drew are bad together, and that's a fact. I hope they get a divorce and Drew's suicide trope isn't just happening for them to stay together.

@@akoeyoo I agree, there is hope until the 23rd of December ;) IF HARPER WAS / IS IN LOVE WITH PHIL it's not a solution to go back together with Drew only because he couldn't handle his best friends problems and his family. Harper had her reasons to start the affair. IF SHE (!) fell in love, there is still hope. Because even Drew should know that he can't force his marriage onto Harper if he's only her second choice. But we will see how this turns out. @@nushhhush We are one month (!) away from the season finale. In that month, Drew has been heartbroken, cool, kind, over it, supportive, complete asshole, and now suicidal... The finale will be AGAIN a 180 degree turn of everything. There's plenty of time left for something interesting to happen. Drew's drama will hopefully be over next week. But prepare for the worst because there's a rumor that Ria (Harper) has left the show... so most likely neither of them will end up with a partner and we're all heartbroken. But it's just a rumor, no idea if it's true.

@@indiegamedevelopment Sure, the storyline isn't over yet. We fans don't know how this will end. I would give them a 50/50 chance because the LGBT audience on social media loves them and makes a lot of noise about them. If they want to build a new woke audience, it would be foolish to let them go... But it would be a long shot because the show already has a wlw couple (Maeve + Nicole) so they would probably have to split up too... and that's on top of Harper + Drew getting divorced... I don't know if the long-standing fans would approve of that. But we'll find out soon.

Probably because it gets them clicks & followers? LGBT+ fans are not to be underestimated when it comes to beloved fanships. We are so underrepresented that many of us are basically watching and promoting the same content and right now many of us are shipping Pharper... which means they have become globally known in our community...
