Idk if you've figured it out by now, but you can manually use an EVE hypo by presding reload while you have a plasmid out. Manually reloading is less efficent, since a hypo always completely fills your EVE and as long as you have EVE you can use any plasmid. But it can be handy for preempting a fight so you're not stuck reloading in the middle
