What brand is that sander? Thanks
@superrepede I use a Rigid orbital sander.
I was screaming NOooo when I saw you stripping that table, but it turned out beautiful 😍. Way to salvage an heirloom.
Thank you 😊🙏
Use orange striper which smells like oranges. Put Saran Wrap over it Let it sit for an hour check and see if the finish is lifting and most of it will come off with the saran wrap. Clean up the remainder the same way.
I'll have to try that on the next refinishing project. Thank you 😊
@@redtimberstudios You're welcome. It works great.
Beautiful! And I love what you did with the drawer for your wife. That's an awesome and sweet personal touch that she'll cherish forever ❤
@@SassyKimDW thank you
It really is
How old is that table?
@Coolll_Personnn to be honest, I'm not sure. It was a Table built by my wife's father that passed away several years ago. He had it several years before giving it to my wife. I know it's got some age to it.
Looks good. I like the bowtie
@caseywhite7660 thank you for the awesome comment. Much appreciated 👏
Doesnt seem like they were sharp
I personally love color adds on my turnings when applicable. I’d say go for it. Lol
@k9insomniac783 Thank you 😊. I like the different colors as well.
@@redtimberstudios I had a bunch of fairly plain poplar at one time that really didn’t have much going for it as far as unique grain pattern or color. I bought some wood dye packs and made some fairy cool (my opinion lol) tigers eye bowls with it. I add color quite a bit. Even if it’s a bronze or gold band. Keep doing what you’re doing man. You can’t be wrong when you’re expressing your love into your art.
Nice
How fast are you running when using the forstner?
I can go somewhat fast with anything 1 1/2 or less. It's a struggle with larger bits. I think I need to stair step them up about 1/4 in size for a smoother result. Unfortunately I need to buy more. 😩
I think they sell wood bluing agents which would look more natural or something similar. It should cling here but I'm thinking of longevity and keeping it food safe for other crafts. Keep building! 🎉
@IkutoH thanks for the information. I'll have to check that out in that out.
Happy Little Box 😊
Thank you 😊 🙏
Nice work man. I like the color add. I made a few of these at one time. I made them a little taller to be utensile holders. On the raised bands, I used a piece of pine to burn them a little to look like metal. Your idea has given me a few new ideas!
@k9insomniac783 thank you for the comment. I'm glad the video inspired you. Thanks again.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? 🪵
Awesome Project, Video editing perfection 😊
Thanks a bunch. Much appreciated 👏
Awesome!! Do you sand at all after the burn?
I do the bulk of sanding before hand. Then some light sanding afterwards. Thanks
Looks great! I've found on burned bowls that putting down a couple of layers of hardwood floor sanding sealer (sand to 320 between coats) really evens out the shine on semi-gloss and gloss finishes. OB Shine Juice is too thin so I go with sanding sealer meant for floors. Just be careful no to coat too many times, it'll turn into this translucent milky color.
I'll have to check out that sanding sealer. Thanks for letting me know. Much appreciated Matt
This is Awesome 😊
Для чего нужно было делать синие точки ?
Whew, Doing the exterior last gets dangerous from my experience bc the structural integrity is lessened when the core is missing.
@ImaWanaBeGnsTa I've had to learn some hard lessons in my journey. I've definitely split projects in half. My newer projects I've been shaping the outside 1st. Seems to work out better that way.
U mean a cup not a glass I don’t see any glass 😂😂😂
Whiskey bucket, more like. I love it. Man after my own heart. Came out great, thanks for sharing.
@Collin275 thank you. Glad you liked 👍 😊
Arent glasses made out of glass?
👍🤩💝It’s beautiful. Thank you for sharing your skills and work of art. 💝
Thank you. Much appreciated
Ride the bevel of the roughing gouge and you'll have a better result.
Just curious, what finish do you use to make it hold liquid and not stain or rot? I haven't had much luck with to finding something yet
I use food grade mineral oil for the inside of the cup. I just use laquer for the outside.
Ty mucho! I'll have to give it a shot
Just me or is it STUPID to use a big ass rag on a lathe? Maybe something smaller and SAFTEY backed...
Are you a Turner yourself?
This is really cool an ddI would love to see something like a mini tower as a bottle opener. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. 🙏. I'll look up a few different towers for inspiration to see what I can come up with. Thanks again. Have a great day.
Beautiful ♥️

Awe... I was wating for the final result.
@@michiganconstructiongroup6379 I'm sorry. You can go to my channel and find the longer video. This is just a short of that original video. The video is a little over 7 minutes long.
What did you spray them with
@@skateboardtheory I just use a spray on laquer.
Why not just replace the motor
I could. I haven't had this lathe a year. I don't want to keep putting money into something that can't handle the workload. I'd rather buy something with a little more power.
My first lathe was a harbor freight 10”. I still have it to this day. That was nearly 3 years ago and I occasionally make twig pots, small bowls, ect.
Aw man, that sucks. I don't have a lathe yet, but I've been considering the HFT bench top. It's in the same realm of budget and power, with solid reviews. Seems like the price to performance is good.
I'll have to look into that brand. Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into them here shortly.
@@redtimberstudios HFT = Harbor Freight. They also have their newer Bauer variable speed 1hp midi lathe for $599. If you're familiar with Harbor Freight, you'll always be able to find a solid coupon, too. Good luck with whatever you choose!
what a bs. Heat is evaporating water You just gained 1 neuron.
That's the point of the heat gun Bill Nye. Speeds up the evaporation/dry time. 😀 Thanks for the feedback. Have a wonderful day.
be nice.
Thank you
How do you keep the wood from cracking while drying? Every time i try to dry limbs this small, they always develop cracks. I have painted, wood sealed, resin coated and even wax coated the ends and still get cracks.
It's definitely hard to avoid cracks. Here lately, I just use wood glue to fill the cracks and sand it back. If I have a lot of time in a project, I'd rather patch it up versus throw it away as long as it looks good. Realistically, I should turn each project 2x. Do a rough turn. Give it a day or two to let the moisture come out and then finish turn the rest. I'm super impatient and rush through them.
Also I didn't turn this in one setting. I rounded it off. Spent about 5 days, putting it in the microwave for a couple minutes each day to get the moisture out. I use a moisture tester to test the moisture so I know when it's dry.
It looks too nice to be a mallet.
Thank you 😊 🙏
Pretty cool how you walked us through the process. I couldn’t make anything as nice, but I might take a stab at it
I'm glad you enjoyed it. They aren't too complicated to make. There's multiple different ways to turn them based on the different style of chucks. With these turns I just make sure my chisels are sharp and I take my time sanding and water pop. You can make this same glass fairly quick. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll help you out as much as possible. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated 🙏.
I'd share a glass with u any day brother. I just wish u sold these bad bois.
I'm working on a website to sell products on. It's almost ready to go. I wasn't sure if I was going to list these types of items. I mainly focus on custom flags and furniture, but it's all about what people want. I can start listing these types of products. I'll let everyone know when the site is up and running. Thanks for the support. Much appreciated 🙏
Cutting the tenon off (on a round piece) using the bandsaw is potentially dangerous, as it can very easily grab and cause a nasty injury.
How many different types of wood?
The wood used is walnut, red oak, Cherry, and Ambrosia Maple.
Thats really cool!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated 🙏
Yo what wood did you use
It's a mixture of several species. It's walnut, Cherry, red oak, and Ambrosia Maple.

@@redtimberstudios videos like this I really like it'd be cool if you did something where it'd be like hey if you don't have as many tools as I could you could do this kind of woodworking project at home and I feel like that might drive viewers in

Thank you. I'll try to batch out some more voice overs this weekend. It's fun to do. I appreciate it 🙏
Really nicely done! The end product is beautiful. One little editing tip- I’d recommend leaving in a bit more of the normal speed footage at the beginning of the clip and toward the end. It creates a smoother look overall and also gives the viewer a better understanding of how long the process actually took you. 👌🏼 I know very little about woodworking lol, but for what it’s worth you seem really talented at it! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. I'll mess around with a few videos to try out some different techniques.
