It was the record crowd at that time, more than 84k, helped along by the 10k plus Sooner fans who made the trip. I was there, I’ll never forget that fourth quarter, it was so loud, we were all screaming our lungs out. Crazy how that crowd was bigger than any UF/ FSU game, both teams played really well and it was just electrifying.

My grandfather fought as a combat medic in the constitutional faction he endured hours of shelling and saw many wounded soldiers. It was a communist revolt and the dominican airforce and infantry split up while the navy was neutral but then took side with the constitutional faction. Im glad you made it out of that hellhole we dominicans have no animosity towards americans we love you guys!.

Memories C-130 air crews TDY from Langley AFB to Nha Trang - 1968 Tet Offensive Slept in tents My very first flight in VN: Nha Trang to Song Be - two bullet holes in C-130 Laying in bunk at night listening to Navy shells from ships off shore going overhead Washing clothes in metal trash can with 2x4 as agitator Trading pilfered canned food from cargo on C-130 for beer at NCO club which was located across the street from tents F-100 goes off runway end, kills two Vietnamese. I record it on Super 8 movie camera Rumor TDY is over, trade all canned goods for beer, HUGE party at enlisted tent area. Someone takes shovel, digs under security fence at Officers club food freezer, swipes case of frozen steaks, cooked over fire in washing machine (metal trash can) with wooden clapboards ripped off NCO club. Officers show up with more beer. At least 35 aircrew there. Army guard in tower comes down and joins the party. AF guys climb tower and try to fire 50 cal machine gun but could figure it out. Guys throwing beer cans at trip flares on barb wire causes Air Police to show up in armed jeeps and threaten to arrest all of us . One of our officers at the party was a Lt Col, told the AP lieutenant to take a hike. End of TDY was a rumor, we stayed at Nha Trang for another month. Memories ...

I was there in 1965. I got orders for Viet Nam 3 times. But were canceled 3 times. Much better duty except for 35 guys that never came home.
