  • @carmenencarnacion2510

    can I use 1:1 ratio resin? I would like to know if the resin doesn't harden while it's inside the vacuum and then become sticky before use it. My purpose is to use it for flower preservation.

    • @maplewoodworks
      @maplewoodworks 7 месяцев назад

      Hi Carmen, Thank you for your question. Yes, you can. As a matter of fact, the first resin I show in this video is a 1:1 ratio resin. The one thing to look for is the "pot life" of resin. Your resin should say something like "45 minute pot life", that is the amount of time you have before the resin starts its exothermic reaction (in other words, when it will start to harden). Also, keep in mind that if it's in a cup like I put it in, it will harden a lot faster because of the temperature of the resin rising. Please feel free to post more questions if you have them. Robert

    Just got this same engraver a few Weeks ago. I've got the 900x900 extension and have added drag chains and built a cardboard enclosure which works surprisingly well- I even put off building an MDF enclosure just so that I could experiment more with the cardboard design, like I learned that where the exhaust is located effects the smoke staining so I expanded the cutout for where the air is exhausted from. I've added access doors to the back side (since it's 900x900 its hard to get to those back corners). I've also made an attached focuser to replace the aluminum cylinder- it folds down from the side of the laser to focus and folds back up when it's tightened. I've also lasered out some tabs that snug onto the 2 nuts on the back of the laser so I don't have to reach around to tighten. Got my first few projects done already- Christmas/Birthday gifts along with a few WIP ideas for Etsy- not quite ready to start a store just yet though. I love this thing, wish I'd gotten into Lazing a long time ago. Nice vid!

    Hallo Rob, I'm starting my own business and i need some help with determining the price for the customer. how do you determine the price for this order? maybe if you don't want to make this information public here that we can get in touch?

    • @maplewoodworks
      @maplewoodworks Год назад

      Hi Joeri, That is a difficult question to answer. But, this is how I calculate what I charge people. 1) Price of material. If I bought it at a wholesale price, I will bump up the cost of the material reflect the normal selling price. Then, I'll give them a discount on the material costs. 2) Shop hourly charge. Determine an hourly rate for your shop/time. Lets say you are charging $40 per hour. Then take $40 x the amount of time you worked on it. As for this order, I charged them prep time + shop time + materials. Please feel free to email me anytime at burinrobert@gmail.com
