I’m no scientist but I’m pretty sure this is bad for you
@@jtibbs6517 when people go back to sport after a surgery and their muscles can’t slow their body’s acceleration down, that’s when injuries happen. These drills are used to expose athletes to deceleration forces. What you see here doesn’t even come close to what your body would experience playing pick up basketball, soccer, football, etc. I don’t blame you for not being a scientist, but anyone can realize that your body must be able to slow itself down when playing sport. And if you can’t, you’re playing with fire. This is how you prepare yourself.

In what ways are those machines better than squatting?
Not better - just different. Your movement options are limited on a machine. This means you’re more likely to target a certain muscle, or body part because you can’t actually move away from using that area. Not better or worse, just different.

Dr. Nick... if someone needed some lateral hip work, strengthening through abduction to help with squatting and glute med development - could this be a good activation drill?
Absolutely. I’d consider this a “level one” lateral hip strengthening drill. Although, do not necessarily cue knees out here. Cue body OVER leg.
