54 Year old pole dancer just can't stop the spin! Let's have some fun and get to know each other. ;-)
I worked as an exotic dancer for the better part of 17 years, and strangely, I never found it important to learn much about pole dancing. When I turned 50 years old, I wanted to learn more about pole dancing and using pole dance as a fitness practice.
Thanks for checking out my channel. I know I'm a bit much, but that is pretty much what RUclips was designed for, right?
XOXO! Ms Gen Xodus

I got Fired. Getting laid off as an Older American.
The title pretty much says it all. I got fired from my job on Nov 5, 2024. I'm almost 55 years old, and the idea of starting over now is daunting. We're Gen X, though. We figure it out as we go along. This is just another bump in the long road of life. So now what do I do? Let's talk about it!

Is this the worst video ever? No, but it's not great, either. Proceed at your own risk! Today, I'm responding to some Gen X memes challenging which generation is the worst generation. If no one else is going to step up and take credit, of course Generation X will fill the role. That's what we do! I'm just goofing around here, of course. I love that the youths are noticing that there are people ...
Trouser legs, who is going to wear these? #sears #nostalgia #genx

I fell down an internet rabbit hole after seeing this Sears Catalog page advertising "Trouser Legs." Initially, I thought it was possible that Sears sold such a thing. I mean, they did sell just about everything including the kitchen sink! It turns out, it was all satire. However, in the 21st century, actual fashions are being sold based on this 100 year old joke. 🔔 Subscribe for more free Gene...

I've got plenty of scars, but these scars are the most memorable despite being the hardest to see. Learning the splits in my 50's! Trying to do the front splits and side splits.
Thank you, for sharing. I was unemployed both in my 30's and again in my 40's. So, I made a plan to be able to retire if, forced out of my job at the age of 55. Lucky for me, I was able to retire on my own terms last year in my early 60s'. Now as a retiree, I receive a private sector pension, public sector pension, and social security. To date, I have not had to pull any money from my retirement accounts. Wishing you well with, all your efforts in the future (smile ... smile).
Damn, girl, you do not look a day over 45. Tell us your secret!
Big difference between getting fired vs laid off. Getting fired suggests you did something wrong whereas laid off means the company can no longer support or need you.
Yeah, you're right - semantics! Sometimes it all feels the same.
In my state California, getting fired may mean no monthly unemployment insurance checks verses if, you have been laid-off you fully qualify for unemployment checks (smile ... smile).
The best thing you can do right now is to cash in your 401k and invest the money for income. You will have to pay the penalty and taxes, but it will allow you more flexibility as you move forward. I am 53 and it has worked great for me for the last 3 years.
That makes me too nervous! Gotta have something in reserve for when I can't work anymore.
@@MsGenXodus Are you working now? That was my point. There is no sense in having your money held hostage based on your current situation.
If, you do not have a pension, please try not to pull any money out of an IRA, 401(k), or Annuity. Because, you will be in retirement within 10-years or less (smile ... smile).
@@transitengineer That's right. Keep your money tied up while you suffer for the next 10 years. Take one for the team.
Lions always strove to be work optional by some point after 50 because employment could not be an expectation. With lifespans increasing while jobs pivot more towards youth, the economy is having an interesting divergence from reality.
I thought that was pretty weird, too. But then again, America has always been a youth-focused nation. Old habits die hard, I guess. Thanks for watching!
During my last time unemployed in my 40's, I only applied for government (Federal, State, County, and City) jobs. Afterward, my city job let me stay as long as, I wanted, provided me a pension, and retiree health care. So, I was able to retire on my own terms last year at age 63. (smile ... smile).
I feel for you. I work but its for multiples of multiples companies that needs a couples hours hear and there. I work for equity not pay anymore, all I ask is a very wage, I will invest and borrow accordingly. After 55 you have to just work for people that need a wise experience person to simply help make things work and be a guide, importantly do not work the 60 and 70 hours your body and mind simply cannot do that anymore. Expenses for everything has gone up and how you live has changed too. I am lucky to still be a help to friends and neighbors, always get feed for helping out. Sad thing about being over 55 is that you have maybe one parent and alot fewer relatives around to help you, and that shrinks has to get older. Why I try my best to help my dad and brothers and family when I can, may need there help ever once in a while. I had great Aunts and great Uncles that where in there 90s, but now none of my close relatives are living in there 90s, alot of them are gond at after 68 which is about 25 years shorter, do not know what happen.
I really like your work situation. Not putting all your chickens in one basket is very smart! I do cherish those I've still got time with and miss those who have already passed, which by this age, is a lot of people. Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
You look great, I never would have guessed 55.
Thank you, that's very kind of you to say!
I guess I'm lucky. I'm 57 and have never been let go. Planning on retirement in 8 years, and my current job will get me there.
You're in the home stretch! And, just because you retire from your main career, doesn't mean you can't have a 2nd act career (if you want). Or, I've know people who really get into their hobbies after retirement. I had a client a few years ago who wanted to move closer to the golf course so that he didn't have drive so far to get there, since he spent most of his days playing golf. He was definitely living the dream retirement! Thanks for watching!
good luck, i changed careers in my 30s and i still struggle in my early 40s with some things, it's not easy. I'd very much be interested in what goes forward
Greetings from Australia. Do you also lose health insurance? We have universal health care so while it's a bummer to lose a job here it's not a health disaster. Have you thought of entering health care ? They could use you though initially it would be low level but helping people is great for the psyche. Great video
Good luck.
Because I saved money I retired at 56 as a millionaire.
if you've been in entertainment, sales, retail, marketing most of your life, then maybe... if you can... then try a totally different occupation ... maybe like craft... kinda like re-inventing yourself... anyway, laid off/fired is not so much the financial (seems like everyone goes through that nowadays) but it's the hit to the psyche... but it appears you got the right outlook (staying bright eyed and bushy tailed)
If you are focusing on RUclips focus on audience alignment
I have been been laid off multiple times across my career. Because of this i think of all jobs as temporary and organize my finances accordingly. I’m mid-50’s and looking at another highly likely layoff next Spring. I’m very prepared net to work again if it comes to that, at least not full time. FU money is a beautiful thing!
Damn you are pretty. You can make money on social media with your looks
You look 35 max
I think you're very brave - I admire that. You're handling this so calmly. I wish I had that kind of self-assuredness. You've got style and grace and any company would be lucky to have you on board. You will be an asset.
Best of luck to you!
You’re very beautiful. You don’t even look 40, it’s amazing. Congrats on being free! If I were you I’d be going to Costa Rica
Losing a job is bad. Living on the edge financially is even worse. Hope everything turns out well.
Totally feel you! Job loss can suck big time. But we gotta keep our heads up and keep hustling! Thanks for the good vibes!
Spit it out, young lady! Where is the fountain of youth?
Haha! Must be the all the late night partying for years on end. You don't need sunscreen if you never actually see the sun, LOL!
Not having a partner and kids seems like the secret sauce.
You are really pretty and you definitely look younger!!
Aw, shucks. Thanks for saying that!
Recommend changing your profile photo. You are waaaay more attractive than that photo suggests. Your appearance just past the two minute point of this video is quite becoming. Bonne chance.
I'm so sorry for you, good luck moving forward! at my age, I'd feel a bit lost, nobody's hiring older engineers...
It is definitely a whole new world of work out there. Feeling lost is probably part of the territory now.
@@MsGenXodus I'm in europe, it's not like the US, but still, could happen, to anyone...
As long as you have a real engineering B.S. degree or P.E. license in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering (but not Computer Science/IT/or software coding), there are both private sector and public sector open jobs (smile ... smile).

@@xTrengo C´mon... 45
I wouldn't say gen x is the worst, but y'all were handed a thriving golden economy and pretended like you weren't that's what bothers people is the hypocrisy.
@@MM3OG Learn from our mistakes, please don’t repeat them. Of course, with the benefit of hindsight, you have a better shot at making better decisions.
@@MM3OG The “thriving” economy died in 1979, unfortunately. Gen X was 0-15 years old. By the time we hit the workforce, the boomers were in a death match on the corporate ladder. The young grads from the late 80’s-90’s were trapped in entry level jobs for over a decade. We never got a shot at the unprecedented economy. It leapfrogged over Gen X and blessed the millennials with tech bros millions.
@@MsGenXodus no that's not true miss at all I'm living proof of that. My mother is gen x she worked a regular job as a dispatcher for our local police department. She made i think between $10,000-$15,000 a year but she was able to buy our family home in 1998 for $30k at a decent fair condition no work needed. So no that thriving economy was still lasting up until gen x and then after the mid 2000's that's when it started declining. Remember my mom worked a low class job and still could buy a house, nowhere in today's society can a single mother of 2 work a low income job and still afford to buy an entire house on top of food/bills it's impossible right now. I appreciate your input but this is what I was talking about you're still saying you didn't live in a time when the economy was great and like I said I experienced it, my mother has the same thinking though to be fair lol.
@@MsGenXodus no ma'am the economy was not good for millennials and millennials were kids in the 90's-2010 when the age of technology was climbing, the people running the start of the tech age were gen x.
@@MM3OG Granted, Musk et al are at the top. I was thinking about the ordinary man trying to get ahead. A few people got wealthy before 2000, but the 08 GFC wiped out normal people’s retirement savings, unfortunately. Also, Gen X worked without bennies until 2014. Sure, government jobs and some big companies offered benefits, but the majority of employers in the 80’s-2014 did nothing for their workers. Everyone was “part time” at 39 hours a week to avoid having to provide insurance. Yes, there was about 5-10 percent of Gen X who did very well for themselves. We kinda hate those guys, though. 😂
Maddog 1.50 for a Bottle Grape was so gross on the way back up.., Schlizs was bottom of the barrel also😂😂
It was all about how strong of alcohol could you buy for the least amount of money! Thanks for watching!

Awesome as always, Ms Gen Xodus! We never expected to "Get away with" anything, we were simply compelled to get things DONE. Same to this day. And for advertising, I thought I was alone! I LOATHE advertising. I get it, but I don't care for it 😐
In the modern era, we all act like it's normal to have companies constantly trying to manipulate you into buying stuff you don't want to impress people you don't like. What a crazy world! Thanks for watching!
@@MsGenXodus Too Right!

On our most recent road trip to Wyoming, we stopped in Kanab, UT. At the 7-eleven they sell a beer called "Pub Beer", it's the same packaging as beer beer....and not good. 😂
@@RondasRandomThoughts that’s so cool and timely! 😀
Hi Ms Gen, great video. Gen X was both the worst and the best because they DIDN'T CARE and were Slackers lol
So true!
The fact that younger generations are figuring out GenX exists is wild. We spent decades being the forgotten middle child between Boomers and Millenials....how are we the worst?😂
I think it’s the mystery since no one’s talking about Gen X. Well, Gen X is talking now! 🤩
Ti's but a flesh wound.
"Come back here and fight, you PANSY!" 🤣
Great clip from Wayne and Garth!
Gotta love the sarcasm!
I worked retail for years but it was always a second job to my main job. Staff turnover in the store I worked at was practically 100%
I've worked a few places that managed to keep people around long term. IKEA had quite a few employees that had been there since the store opened 15 years ago. Most places have a high turnover simply because retail doesn't pay a living wage. Too bad, too. It'd be nice to talk to experienced sales people about purchases. Unfortunately, we're on our own to try to figure out if the item we're thinking about is a good fit for us or not. Thanks for watching!
We stared at the JC Penny catalog in the 60's more than TV. Especially the BB and pellet guns for my wish list. Thank God I didn't shoot my eye out.
Thank you for sharing that memory! It’s amazing how those catalogs played such a big role in our childhood dreams and wish lists. Glad you came out unscathed!
No problem. JC Penny was 10 miles closer to parent's house. So my Mom shopped there a lot for a family of 9!
My memory was the JC Penny Catalog, but I think the experience was the same. You couldn't wait to see all the cool new toys that were out that year, and to make your Christmas list.
Totally get you! Those catalogs were the best! Just flipping through them made me feel like a kid again, dreaming of all the epic toys I'd ask for!
I dog eared pages and circled the items I wished for.
That's something young people will never experience. I know catalogs were wasteful of resources, but I do kind of miss getting a catalog in the mail, even if I'm going to order online, anyway. There's just something about being able to make notes directly on the pages that I miss.
@@MsGenXodus same.
