I grew up in Webster. I love my little town.
My late husband Adam Bardy was born on Eastern Ave in Webster. His family lived there. His older brother Steve bought some land around Webster Lake st the tender age of 15. Joseph Bardy ran a Fish and Chips place in Webster. John and Ed Bardy helped out with the restaurant. Adam's father worked at Stevens Linen and his mother ran like a boarding house. Steven Achrimoitz (please forgive the spelling,) ran a small grocery store in Webster. Thank you for these wonderful videos!
A lovely trip back in time through postcards of Webster, Massachusetts. Thank you for putting this together and making it available for others to enjoy.
Do you have any information on Leo's pit in the Webster lake area I can't find anything on it the website says it permanently closed.
Good luck pronouncing that without twisting your tongue into knots.
incredible pictures
What years are these pictures from? A bygone era of talented dancers and lovely ladies! Andrew Trombone '84
Good
Thank you. This very sweet film brings back memories. I, along with my dear friend, Carol, worked for Lydia Slater in their home on the corner of N. Main and Slater Streets. It was approximately 1965-66. I believe Lydia was just into her 90's and a nephew, John Brown, had come to help Lydia keep the household. Our job was to set the table and serve dinner in their luxurious dining room. Since Lydia was often referred to as the "last of Slater's, I came to believe she would be the last Slater to live in that home. John and Lydia were both respectful and good to work for, but very particular. John often started the dinner giving us guidance and we would finish it off, plate it and serve each course. I learned a lot about, dining etiquette and foods that weren't common in my family, as well as the finer points related to specific and proper serving dishes, carving tools, and various utensils (including 24 different serving spoons). Most dinners were 5 courses. All of this actually came in handy as I moved on to college, worked in business, and ran my own household. There were also special occasion events such as ice cream socials for Lydia's friends who would come from other Mill Towns including Providence and Woonsocket, mostly in their chauffer driven cars. Although my time there was short, it left a positive impression and lasting memory.
I loved this input. Thank You!
Awesome. Thank you!
You're welcome!

well done
I grew up in Webster but my family moved away in 1978. I see a lot of familiar landmarks.

I cannot get this song out of my head and thanks to it. I amuse several people with the name of the lake.
Or as we called it as kids 'Websta Lake" ;) My uncle and grandfather used to swim it..
My hometown. Nothing like it.
My folks lived here until 1947. Probably no one left who would remember them. I visit every summer. Will tell my cousins about this video. I would love to live on Webster Lake.

One of my favorite videos...Thank you for putting it together...The pictures are wonderful, and the music is perfect...what is the name of the musical score?
Someone did not like it
On one of the slides there is a boat. My husband Bill said " There is Ms Webster". He can rattle off the name of the lake. Nice reminder about what the lake was at one time. One hundred years from now they will be saying the same thing about now.
who wrote and performed this?

i love bicycling around that lake very beautiful !!
Thanks - great....my grandparents (the Stills) built a summer cottage that turned into a two story home on Webster Lake....it was across from the Colonial Club on Thomson Road...spent many summers there in the late 40's and the 50's.....
Thank you! Recognized many places including some where I worked as a teen. It was so nice to see the lake before motor boats and so many cottages! john

Very nice video. Such a beautiful version of this song.
Night Falls As darkness reappears The madness and the fears close behind them Faith calls me to question who I am With neither myth nor man stand beside them Say not what you are but what what you were Daylight still my soul Night falls the secrets still remain The panic and the pain still belies them Pizzaro and conquistadors The debris and the metaphors And the scarcity of miracles he'd found Valverde and the battle lines and everything it undermines And the scarcity of miracles we'd found
thank you
