    Dear 02 World, I have to revise the woefully inadequate cooling in a Tascam DM4800 digital mixer as it's such a poor solution and unfortunately it kills them over time and it's already showing signs...... Just wondering whether the Thermal Plaster looses thermal efficiency over time and whether it can be removed to possibly start again as the current solution obviously isn't up to the task.....currently it has pin type heatsinks glued with plaster to the CPU RAM Chips and a fan which isn't even quite aligned with the IC's..... So the Basic might be adding an enclosure and decent silent 120mm fan(s) and self adhesive heat sinks and 120mm fan on the other PCB's...... But Ideally it might be good just to start again especially if the plaster is erm......easily removed.....!!!!! Thanks Very much for any advice you can offer as Be Amazing if I can ge the cooling as good as it can be....!!!!!!! Thanks So much Once Again Chris :) :) :) :) :) :)

    Hola, buenos días, soy seguidor de su canal y le escribo para poder solicitarle ayuda sobre el siguiente problema que tengo con un centro de planchado bosch, con el calderin vacio, y todo conectado, enciendo el aparato y a los 10 segundos se va la luz de la casa, he remplazado el calderin y la electróválvula tratando de encontrar el problema, y nada sucede lo mismo, probé a encenderlo con los cables del calderin desconectados y no se hiba la luz, después de esta prueba me dijeron que llenado el calderin de agua no se iria la luz, que ese era el problema, bueno pues lo llene para comprobarlo, y te expongo lo que sucedio acontinuacion, lo enciendo, y de pronto no se va la luz de momento, pasan los minutos, la plancha gotea, apretó el botón de vapor no ocurre ni suena nada, la bomba de succión de agua tres cuartos de lo mismo, el selector de temperatura se queda parpadeando y no llega a quedarse la luz permanente, cuando se supone que tras unos minutos tendría que quedarse la luz fija en la temperatura seleccionada y pitar dos veces para indicarte que ya está listo para su funcionamiento, y eso no ocurre, viendo el fatal funcionamiento que tenia y por temor a que pudiera ocurrir algo, apretó el botón de apagado y se va la luz en ese mismo instante, espero su ayuda y asesoramiento para poder solucionar este problema, porfavor, saludos.

    2 issues with this. You clean with isopropyl alcohol but don't where gloves, and the thermal compound is too thick, and will create a mess - poor application.

    how do I remove this stuff when wanting to remove A heatsink?

    • @draxoronxztgs1212
      @draxoronxztgs1212 2 года назад

      A good conclusion is to not do it if it isn't really necessary, but in that case, plenty off heat, force and luck probably. I did that on a circuit board in an attempt to reglue the heatsink as there was a gap between the chip and the heatsink by the amount of glue used from the factory. I ended up tearing off the ceramic cap off the chip, ruin the circuit board. Found a guy on ebay who could reemeblace broken bga chipset off that kind, that I sent the card to replace that bga. 150 usd later I got the card back in an working order, and a valuable lesson learned.

    • @draxoronxztgs1212
      @draxoronxztgs1212 5 месяцев назад

      @@hamzasat Is there any springs or fittings that holds the heatsink? Using thermal pads are less recommended than good quality thermal paste, and avoid liquid metall paste unless you are really sure of what you doing and knows how to make a reliable seal around it, even if liquid metal has the best heat transfer, as it is conductive and if should spill where it is not supposed to be, will short circuit the gpu. Also liquid metal paste contains gallium that eats through aluminum making it crumble like dried bread if it gets contact with it, if there is no copper core or sheet between the aluminum heat sink and the gpu or cpu. But if the gap between the chip and heat sink is bigger than 0,2mm, then a thermal pad might be better choise, and won't cause a mess when being removed. I use pads of 0,5mm thicker than the space inbetween to be sure it pushes against the both surfaces. So if the gap is 0.5mm, use 1mm, if 1,5mm use 2mm.

    This stuff does work, but you don't need much. After applying it to the chip and adding the heat sink, you want to push it down pretty firmly, to get it as close as possible to the chip. Also, I've noticed that older plaster, in a tube that has been used before, takes a whole lot longer to cure, than brand new stuff. In this case, if the circuit board will lay flat while operational, and the chip produces a good amount of heat, curing will be quick. If the board mounts at a 90* angle to the floor, you may want to first give it some heat to at least partially cure in the flat position, before using it at 90*. Putting it out in the sun flat, is a good way of adding heat, to speed up the curing process.
