This happened to me once while bounty hunting. I have been sure to pack an AFMU since then to catch it when I start to notice damage, and have recently invested in an improved life support module. Absolutely fuck that.

The depth of simulation in this game.... that something catastrophic like this can happen, and you can come back from it using your wits.... incredible.

Made it through the airlock with 2 seconds to spare before 😂 and my canopy was GONE in a Python. I couldn't even like turn and use the sides that weren't broken to see my destination.

I used the Alliance idk how its named ship and did some AX hunting as a kind of support ship and every time i got focused so it was like „Yeah it's just the Canopy have 25 Minutes time limit now" was funny but they stopped supporting ED on Playstation.

What i don't understand why some Players don't swap their E class Life support for a D class, it's better in every way is by far ALLWAYS the lightest + it has a emergency O² supply of 7:30 minutes.

I love the gameplay element... but - dammit - this is so _STUPID_ !! A simple SCUBA style air bottle that you can connect to the suit, or a direct line from the life support system, and this is no issue.

I know it's a game mechanic to make you buy better life support, but it's still all a bit silly given a diver has 30-60 minutes of air in their oxygen bottle. You're telling me a several hundred ton ship doesn't have space for one or two of those as a life-saving backup? If you dedicated just one ton of cargo space for this, you could even go for days.

Canopy breaches are no joke! Good escape

The fact that you cant see the station waypoint because the canopy is shattered makes it even more sketchy, youre practically flying blind.

Fun fact: canopy breach breaks the atmosphere inside of the ship which makes the speakers useless (speakers that are used by the ship computer to simulate sounds outside of the ship so it's not like there are sounds in space but just a computer projection instead)

And that's why you always A rate the life support

Got careless in a conflict zone with my Cutter once and had to pay 55M+ rebuy because Federal flight control denied me docking and I ran out of Oxygen before requesting again. Only A grade life support since.

I remember a long time ago in the first couple dozen hours, not even a hundred hours yet of Elite: Dangerous, how terrifying it used to be when this happened... until I flew a Vulture. One of the biggest problems in flying those is that the canopy has the highest chance of failure during combat than any other ship. It's not a matter of if, but WHEN they'll break. I got so used to it happening that I pretty much expected it and timed every engagement accordingly to the mercy of the ship's allowable life support system duration. The Vulture probably taught me more lessons through baptismal fire than any other ship in Elite. Pushed me to the limits of knowing what I can, and can't do, and have always valued those times and lessons. Thanks for unlocking this core memory.

We all know that you loose your HUD when you loose your canopy, but not everyone knows that if you activate night vision your full HUD comes back: for targeting it’s really useful

Gods, I miss playing Elite Dangerous. I REALLY need to finally just pony up the money for a headset cause I don't want to start playing again until I can do it in VR.

This is why i shield tank, and not armor tank. Lol

If i make a spaceship, it's having zero air vents!
